Why is it that people cannot seem to cope with multi-faceted personalities?

Is it because definition/pidegon holeing / categorising makes us feel safe and in control?

I am a kinky person. BUT I am also an avid theatre goer, historian, intellectual, musician, teacher, Owner of a small business, employer.

I enjoy reading, films, hanging out with friends, having a drink etc..

and yet people often feel comfortable knowing just one aspect/part of you as though they can only deal with a few grains of sand from the beach that makes me up.

Can people not accept/appreciate/deal with the whole?
