Shai Hulud is a fictional creature in the sci-fi novel "Dune" by Frank Herbert. The approximate translation of the term is "Eternal thing" or "Lord of the eternity". The creature is also known as the "sandworm" and is a giant silicon lifeform of the sands of the desert planet Arrakis. Drug produced by the larvae of worms is called "The spice" and allows you to predict the future and is strategically necessary for humanity for interstellar travel.
