Life, Currently (once more)
I promised that I would be writing in this thing more often and then immediately forgot about it again. I really ought to stop doing that.
I took about a half a year off from studies to, ostensibly, figure out what to do with my life, although this has not actually happened. Effectively, the six months acted as a rather long summer vacation, which is to say that I dedicated myself to wasting time and forgetting everything I learned over the past few years. This has been, to various degrees, quite successful.
As for my future, I have decided what I have known for the past several years: I do not want to leave academia. It is my love and my lot in life. My heart and mind belong in the ivory tower, and I cannot bear to part from it for long. So, I will be attending a higher education, likely to become a doctor of science.
As of the present, I got accepted in the the Master's curriculum at my alma mater. (Yay!) It is my plan to get my professors to like me and recommend that I go somewhere else as soon as possible, since I am seeking a theoretical, high-quality education that my old university simply cannot offer me. It is my dream to get into MIT, but I do not think that that will ever happen. So, I am shooting for Berkeley until further notice.
Since the state budget has not been approved, the university has been unable to secure funding for most of its services, so I am unable to take more than two classes, rendering me a part-time Master's student. This is alright, I suppose, since I at least have a fairly well-paying pat-time job. And it gives me time to sort out my thoughts and, uh, my effects. My room has been in a terrible state of disarray for the past year or so, and I have been quite remiss in getting around to cleaning it up. I will need to, if I plan on moving within a year!
Oh, yes, some of you will be vaguely pleased to know that one of my courses is Algorithm Analysis, which deals primarily with the formalization of asymptotic function growth theory. I can now formally describe tight bounds on how quickly some of you change size. Be afraid.
Other than that, life has been mostly uneventful. Which is not necessarily a bad thing. It enables me to spend time with dear friends that I may not be as close to in a few years; I cherish the time I can afford to spend at this point in my life.
More updates when my brain gets around to kicking my fingers into action again.
