As 2020 comes to a close, I have realized one thing is certain: I cannot do commissions anymore. They make me too anxious and depressed, knowing that I put a lot of work into something, only for it to not be as appreciated as I would have liked. Not only that, but constantly asking me if your art is finished yet, actually prolongs the process. I get anxious knowing someone is impatient. I get worried that I am not fast enough, and also if I decide to work on something for myself, simply out of pleasure or a need for practice, then I start to feel guilty. What if someone sees me working on personal work, and gets angry? What if they start to wonder if I really care about their generous payments and interest in my work?
To put it bluntly, I do not enjoy doing commissions. And I will no longer be accepting them in the future. I may open a patreon, so that everyone can have a chance to look at my personal works, while helping sustain my art and livelihood. But that is a big maybe.
I want to draw for fun, again. For pleasure and relaxation. I want to be free to draw what I want, without judgment or impatience. I don't want to be constantly asked if I have finished art pieces for others - I can hardly finish my own personal pieces in a timely manner.
In short, I will be giving out refunds to everyone who has commissioned me this year. I don't know when that will be, hopefully soon, as I have no income currently. Please, do not ask if I can draw for you for free, or if you can make a request. I will post here or on twitter (where I post most of my art, now) for suggestions WHEN I feel like taking other people's ideas.
I apologize for anyone that this affects negatively. Or anyone who is inconvenienced by this news.
P.S. I am no longer driven by favorites, likes, or comments. I will be posting what I've drawn, simply to share my art with the internet. This may not include everything I have drawn, or may include sketches that are not finished. We will see.
P.S.S. From now on, my Discord server will be used for fans and friends, only. And I will be switching my account name to DawgDoes, as is my alias on YouTube for my gaming channel, as well as my Picarto, and likely my Patreon in the future.
P.P.S.S. Dawg, my fursona, will be getting a design update based on my new beliefs and views on life and the spiritual realm.
