I've reached a decision after a lot of introspective thought. I have tried to support this site since 2008, including with my hard-earned money through adspace. I have stubbornly clung on through exodus after exodus, because aside from the site itself, the community that's built here is a good one overall. I've met some of my closest friends through FA, and without the fresh eyes on my work I'm sure it would have taken longer for me to build my fanbase. For these things, I will always be grateful.
I have been taking strides for the past few years to develop a professional demeanor regarding my artwork, and especially since my book project I've been redoubling these efforts. The policy changes instituted earlier this week undermine every effort I've taken. How can I have a 'professional' portfolio here alongside ads like 'fuck your neighbor, your wife will never find out' and rape porn ads? Not only can I not, I find these things morally reprehensible and have no desire to have that message prominently displayed anywhere near my work.
This is no longer an art site, like it was when I joined in 2008. It's now a porn site. I can't even dismiss that fact with 'at least it's all someone's creative process even if I don't like the subject' anymore. Even if they've 'scaled back' these new ads, A) they're still here in some fashion, and B) this is a glimpse into things to come. It'll only go down from here.

Quotes are currently: CLOSED My husband has agreed to give me a few weeks alone to wrap up some things in progress or that can't be rescheduled, and to get some counseling to decide what to do next. I've gotten quite a few offers for housing I need to consider thoroughly. My life is going to change drastically no matter what, and that's incredibly scary. I will be seeking professional help to cope with this complete upset of my life.
