This has been on my mind for a year or so now, and became even more prevalent over this past week. I've had Jason, in some incarnation, for about a decade at this point. He's gone through a lot: several art pieces, a couple of F-List profile revamps, 2 Dungeons and Dragons campaigns, and countless RPs/Stories. He has almost a full decade of existence under his belt. In a way, it's like he's his own person. That's where this decision to change his name came from.

When I first envisioned Jason, I was in my late teens – a totally different person than who I am now. I can't remember the first name I tossed around for him, but I ended up with Jason. Why? Because I wanted him to be... me. In a way. There's also the fact that I think Jason is a neat name, but I didn't know back then how he'd turn out. We shared several traits at the beginning of his run, but as we grew and matured together, the more I realized that he had several traits that I didn't have. We diverged. The equine standing around today isn't the same one from a decade ago. The time was right. The Character wanted it.

So, from now on, Jason Steelhoof will be known as Aleksander Steelhoof. For the time being, I won't rename all of my old, Jason-related submissions. Even after such a large change, I want to enjoy the nostalgia factor of seeing his old name.


We've been through a lot, buddy. Here's to many more years together.
