The Creation of Krysalyne
9 years agoIt all stared around the early 90s when I was roughly about 4 or 5 give or take. A popular anime heavily butchered by DIC Entertainment was thrown onto the screen known as Sailor Moon. DIC is pretty much how 4Kids is with their anime. But moving to the point here. Sailor Moon was actually one of the first anime series I've watched as a young girl. Henceforth the moons in Krysalyne's design on her cheeks and tail respectively. Anime in general has inspired her long hair as well. It's just so pretty!!! >w< I've always loved crescent moons too. I don't know for sure if it was their shape or how they were drawn in a lot of fantasy artwork that I've seen over time. Which brings me to my next point.
The concept of fantasy has always been a huge inspiration on my part as a whole. I remember playing a lot of RPGs, Adventure, and Fantasy games growing up such as the Legend of Zelda or Fire Emblem and things relative to that nature. As such, I wanted to create my own fantasy legend. It's still a work in progress but the working title is Quest for Eternylaea where Krysalyne gets her heritage, hometown, etc. But before Krysalyne was known as Krysalyne, I had based her on a heroine princess that I was working on for the story that would aid the main protagonist whom I have yet to come up with a name for. (All I have so far is that he is a Tanolf or Tanuki [Raccoon Dog] Wolf.) This prototype princess was named Illiana and she was a very basic, generic looking character. She had blonde hair, blue eyes, and just looked so...bland. Illiana also just didn't sound like an overall appealing name, so I had to start from scratch yet again.
I kept the princess concept, but I always hated stereotypes. I knew that at some point I would revisit the story. During my early high school days, Gaia Online was a popular chat site that I remember using and creating my avatar on. At the time, I was highly disappointed in the lack of animal based items that one could use to dress up their avis. But there was one item in particular I found myself really enjoying-the Inari's Beads. This item would dress your character as one of three kitsune characters. Of course, I'm a huge fan of foxes and I loved using the white ears and tail. Not only that, but I had quite a unique but kinda super otaku username: Krysalian Fox Demon. I guess it sounded cool to 15 year old me at the time and this particular username is how Krysalyne's ne started. It was my nickname given to me by my friend Chidori Rain (Sadly I have lost touch with her but bless her heart that she is doing well.) She would frequently call me Krysa or Krysa-Chan. I had gone by that name for years before I had a defining basis for my current fursona.
I knew in my heart that if I were to be a fur, I wanted to be a fox. Foxes always looked so beautiful and peaceful albeit such naughty little tricksters and I have always loved that about them so the vixen basis was a staple. The colors were kind of hard to figure out. I absolutely love the color teal, but it wasn't really the true color I wanted in her fur pattern. For Krysa's hair, I kept thinking about water, the sky, and whatnot. I decided to keep true to water and chose the color cerulean because her hair is long and flows like the ocean. The white stands for purity, grace, and serenity that defines her. The light blue I added to her arms and legs represent the color of the sky during the day and the lavender represents the sky before the sun sets. Her feathered wings were a touch I added on later since her concept mainly reminded me of flying into the sky. Her silver moons represent the night and her mysterious nature. When I see my sona, she reminded me of a jewel, a crystalline gem that beams against the light of the sun. I used my nickname Krysa and the word Chrysalis or Crystalline to make her name Krysalyne. It is also somewhat a corruption of my real name (which is Kristen in case you were wondering.) Thus, this is how Krysalyne was born. The ruling Princess of Eternylaea who really likes to cosplay and whatnot. She is my original creation and she'll forever be my parallel self in the Furry Fandom.
If any of you guys have a story like mine to share as to how your sonas were created, please share it. I would love to hear what you have to say. Bye for now, my lovlies! ~Krysalyne Hīme
