Finally posted the maps
so I don't know how much out there would pay attention to those in relation to what I post, but at least I got something to refer to if anyone ask!
the way fantastical geography has felt like a great guidance for my illustrations over time but the purpose seemed to have eluded a lot, and at least something I've noticed is what I explore in that setting is the ancient world specifically, which avoid medieval tropes or renaissance or early modern things, and given that most fantasy settings are set in those period it makes the project for me interesting but at the same time difficult to not alienate everyone
there's many stuff about the setting I still have to settle, develop and explore, for example the wild life, I want something alien and interesting as I often do but I wouldn't want it to lack structure either, the technological level as well is something I'm uncertain about, I've always found the aesthetic in the most recent final fantasy games, like 12 at least to be interesting with those flying ships, and I've been hoping to implement that, but how in a way that I can put into art consistently enough I'm not sure
next step will be to establish the social hierarchy of the 4 civilizations I've displayed on the map, it's mostly going to focus on the yellow (Egyptian themed) one because it's the one I got the most art of and most ideas for but I'd like each of them to be distinct and unique societies, and that fact being reflected on how the social status of each character affect their life and decisions
also I got to come with a chart as to how the species work, and how it relate to the "magic" of this world
but really ultimately it will all come down as guideline for visual arts, I never had tabletop style games set in this world but it's never been my focus, and I don't play tabletop anywhere as much as I'd like to have to experience to know what to make of it, so art will satisfy me so long as I don't find any more opportunity for roleplaying games anyway
alright that should be it for this journal
reached the end of the backlog:
there's the end of anything more or less anthro related stuff I had gathered for the past 3 years at least
one thing on my mind about it is that it comes as a variety of style and forms and process behind what I do, and probably to some degree there's value to it, however at this point I would like if I did something more consistent, especially if I could consistently offer art with background and world building behind it
landscape is something I've been practicing for the past few months, but haven't managed to apply into art involving the setting I've been drawing about here, I think I should make it my goal to make that happen more here even in rough form or through sketches
but yeah that's about it for this journal
world building:
so the more I went through my art backlog which I thought would befit this website they all turned out to be about this specific world building project I've merely been having fun with over the years so I might as well share the ongoing process of the project
a lot of is at a very conceptual stage and for example giving names to places and character I have has been a challenge despite the guidelines I left for myself, so the ideas exists mostly in term of visual but if I get enough people to pay enough attention to the arts itself and a coherent idea get put together through it hopefully I can get some feedback giving some idea
I had and still somewhat have the hope I could make these art somewhat collaborative but it's turned out to me that I'm often too demanding with the project for it to really be shared in a meaningful way but I'm not so cynical that I don't assume it couldn't happen yet
so that's about it, eventually I will post more map and probably journal update/ideas shared will go alongside feedback
hopefully that will flesh things out as I go on
