Why can’t I download the models anymore?
Hello everyone, finally, to those who are still here!
I arrive with my flower in my rifle to share with you a block of text. 😊
Introduction
First of all, I want to apologize for these long months of absence. I’ve been torn between my personal life and my online life, and I’ve had to make some tough choices. My lack of communication hasn’t helped, and I sincerely apologize for that.
I’m writing today to fill that void and to answer the questions you often ask, or at least the ones I see the most. I get contacted periodically (about once every three months) to check on the progress of the next model, to ask for commissions, or simply to check if I’m okay… just kidding! Actually, most of the messages I receive are mainly about where to download the models 🤡. And that’s exactly what I’ll address in this post.
I also want to sincerely thank everyone who has stayed and been patient. I never thought that, after two years, there would still be so many active people! It really touches me to see that some of you respect my work and are genuinely excited to see new creations. A huge thank you to all of you.
Why can’t I download the models anymore?
First, let me answer the question that you're all probably asking: Why can’t I download the models anymore?
Well, there are several reasons for this. Let’s start with the simplest one: money!
Maintaining a website, domain name, and hosting every month is a cost I could no longer afford, especially with 0€ in donations. Furthermore, my personal projects required me to cut back on many subscriptions. For example, I also ran a French furry community with a website that I had to shut down, which led to the cancellation of all furmeet projects, conventions, and online events. But that's not the main point here.
Disappointment with the ingratitude of the community
The second reason is my disappointment with the ingratitude I’ve encountered within the furry community. I made my models available for free, with the only condition being that they couldn’t be used for direct profit and that my sources had to be credited. The idea was to let as many people benefit as possible, whether for an animation, a DIY sex toy, or even as a source of inspiration for unique creations. My goal was to help this community, which I’ve known for 20 years, while remaining somewhat on the sidelines. I’ve seen collaborative projects emerge, talents being highlighted, and creators coming together to produce new things. This spirit of sharing was what drove me to make my models accessible.
I also added usage conditions to ensure that my values and morals would be respected. We live in a consumerist society where the pursuit of profit is prioritized, and it’s rare to see people or industries put consumers’ needs ahead of their own interests. Very few things are still made out of passion and respect. It saddens me to see some people get rich off the backs of creators and consumers while constantly asking for more.
Abuse and lack of respect
At the beginning, I was quite proud. I saw the number of downloads grow and eagerly awaited feedback—photos, shared creations, and hoped that those using the models would join the Discord to proudly show us their work, in the spirit of collective creation. But in the end, that’s not really what happened. We’re furry, sure, but we’re also human, and it hurt to see my models being downloaded and used without credit or respect. Some even went as far as selling them on external platforms. I spent a lot of time scrutinizing the works of artists I admire to make sure none of my models were used without permission.
Why I decided to remove access to the models
For all these reasons, in addition to the financial struggles, I decided to remove access to the models. On occasion, I would still send ZIP files upon request, but after receiving feedback, I decided to stop that method.
I could put the site back online, with all the models and their descriptions. But make no mistake: I will no longer offer them for free. There has been too much abuse. Despite my desire to keep them free, I will now be forced to implement a paid system. Purchasing the models will grant full access for both commercial and artistic use. No more hunting down fraud!
Will the models be available again?
I know many of you are wondering if the models will be available again someday. The answer is yes, but it will depend on demand.
I am ready to bring the models back online, but only if there is enough demand. If there’s enough interest, I will upload them again, but this time under a paid system. As I mentioned earlier, there have been too many abuses in the past. In order to ensure proper use and to cover the costs of maintenance, I will make sure that purchasing the models gives full access to all uses, whether commercial or artistic. This will also allow me to continue offering new models and keeping my passion alive, without having to sacrifice my other priorities.
So, the models could come back, but that will depend on you. If you’re interested, I will do it and implement a paid access system to make sure the abuses don’t happen again.
Let me know what you think. 🙏
