Experiments with shading leather

Okay, so I've been colouring comics since 2008, and the leather effect is starting to annoy me because it is basically unchanged since then even though I've made huge strides in rendering polished surfaces such as metal armour and latex.
I am seriously considering changing the process to something that at least vaguely looks like leather.
