INFORMATION
Wet Specimen Preservation is a type of taxidermy used by scientists and researchers for hundreds of years. When biologists and other scientists found an animal of interest during an expedition, they needed a way to bring it back for further study and classification. Because of the lack of technology we have today, they could not simply pack the animal in a freezer. They instead used a mixture of chemicals to keep the animal fresh for the journey home, and were then able to remove and look at the specimen at will. This method is also used for long-term storage.
Many prestigious museums and scientific institutions across the world stock hundreds of different species of animals in this means, in order to preserve them for future generations.
Today, we have other means of studying creatures, but some curious collectors enjoy the old-world look that comes with a critter in a jar.
They're now used for curios, an oddity to strike up a conversation about and to be appreciated.
I have taken my time learning this craft and it's enjoyable for me.
I do NOT just shove an animal in a jar and pour chemicals on them. It's much more involved than that.
I believe there is beauty in death, and just because an animal has passed does not make it any less important.
I celebrate the life of the animal by immortalizing it for the enjoyment and curiosity of others.
If Taxidermy is not your taste, that's quite all right. Please move on and keep your comments to yourself.
There's thousands of people who feel quite contrary to you.
I DO support Animal Welfare, but I do believe there IS a time and place for responsible hunting, farming, and taxidermy.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding my work, feel free to note me on my MAIN ACCOUNT, "Morticia."
NO I WILL NOT TELL YOU HOW I DO THIS.
