Question about Chakat Space's LNAW military

Working on the reboot and one of the parts of the story may include an armed conflict with the LNAW's (League of Non-Alligned Worlds) official military forces and some pirates, and I don't recall any other stories touching upon that particular topic before. Is there anyone who's written anything on it before? Or do I largely have free reign? And if so, would they still be fully human armed forces aside from assistant-slaves, or would they have war beasts like Earth had in the Gene Wars? And does anyone else find it odd that we know more about pirates in the Chakat universe then we do one of the larger factions?
