Today imma' go over some details about Chymixea: Wonder Quest, The Story progress, combat mechanics, and other parts of it!


First the Story and Sprite work, I'm going to focus on plot-important characters' and recruit able teammates' face sprites!

DNA Splicing!
It was quite a fun challenge to plan and program this mechanic to spice up combat. I wanted to give it an RNG aspect where after slaying one enemy they would drop their DNA, and then a teammate could use SPLICE to absorb the DNA for their benefits. But there are 4 different types of DNA to absorb: Blue(which restores you glow power), Orange(which boosts you stats for the rest for the fight), Green(which restores your HP), and Violet(which fills your fusion gauge!). These benefits would change the dynamic of battle, sometimes the player will encounter "Alpha enemies", which are stronger versions of normal enemies and taking advantage of the splice mechanic would add a layer of strategy and tension to each battle!

Treacherous Dungeons!
I gave the dungeons an overhaul! They are much longer, and formidable this time around! Each dungeon would be broken down into corridors where the player can explore and collect treasure while fighting through hostile chymixea, trail chambers, and boss layers! Trial Chambers would serve as the main challenge in a dungeon, where the play must complete a certain task or series of tasks to proceed to the next room! like navigating mazes, fighting a number of foes, or solving a puzzle, each with an added element of RNG to keep them fresh to the player! I will also be working on more elaborate and beautiful tile sets and layouts for each dungeon!

And now the Bonding System!
In this game I wanted to emphasize the importance of interacting with chymixea and it's world such as: taking on side quests, building closer bonds with villages- which may unlock better services and new quests, and most importantly bonding with your teammates! With the "chit chat" option in the menu, the player can talk to or play with their teammates, sometimes they would comment on the current area you're in, or you could converse and learn about your partners! And by completing quests and clearing dungeons and other activities, one can build a stronger bond with their teammates. As you grow closer to each other they gain the ability to fuse together, your partners may learn new abilities, and they would open up to you more. I should also mention that after a certain bonding threshold is met something called a "Favor quest" would become available for the player to accept from a teammate. Completing these favor quests would advance you and your teammates' bond! Treat them well and they'll treat you back! ;3
Right now I am working on an detailed bonding system to help bring the world and each teammate to life!

I'm still hard at work to bring you the alpha demo! The goal is to patch up bugs, polish the mechanics, do some grammar checking, programming cutscenes, and building the dungeons for the first area of the game to get this alpha demo ready for launch!
