This is Darko (top kitty). He's my absolute best friend ever. He is the sweetest, most lovable, perfect cat in the entire world (though I may be a little biased). Darko sleeps in with me every night and wakes me up five minutes before my alarm goes off every morning without fail. He hates dogs and likes to tease his sister. His favorite toy is a stuffed unicorn; he carries it around the house with him wherever he goes.

Darko first entered my life on December 23, 2004. He and his sister were scrawny, wormy, flea-bitten kittens. They were the only survivors of a litter of nine. Rambunctious and feral, I of course fell in love. My choice made, I picked up his smaller, lankier sibling to say goodbye, but another family picked him up and walked out with him. So I took Inki home with me instead. And that was that.

Until three years ago. We were shopping for sturdier toys for Inki (she's a bit of a 'rough player' and destroys everything we give her). So it happened that we walked by the Petsmart Adoption cages. And there he was. He was called 'Foxy' and had been wandering at the edge of the desert for several weeks. He came home with me the next day.

I do everything I can for my fuzzy children. They are what I have to live for and I would give anything to make sure they were all healthy and happy. They both have a regular and emergency vet; every office in town has a full history on them just in case something happens. Both are up-to-date on all of their vaccines. I follow all medication and treatment regimens prescribed by their vets. I try my hardest to make sure they are healthy.

Despite all of this, Darko is sick. He has inflammation behind his right eye that is pushing the orb out of its socket. We aren't sure what it is, or why it's causing him so much trouble. Nothing showed up on his xrays, and though antibiotics made it disappear two months ago, it's back with a vengeance. Our next option is to drive him to a Las Vegas specialty clinic and have him get a CT scan and possibly surgery, depending on what's going on. The rough estimate is anywhere from $1,700 to $4,200. With my hours decreasing at work and him being as sick as he is, we cannot afford to wait. We have about half of it right now. He will not be euthanized due to lack of funds if there is anything I can do to help it.

Because of my situation, I need all the help I can get. I'm -not- asking for donations, nor am I trying to make you pity my situation enough to throw money my way. All I'm asking is that you consider me if you're looking for art.

I am willing to draw anything to get him the care he needs; you name it. The first ten slots filled will be finished before Christmas Eve. The rest we can work out. I am best at drawing females and feminine males, though I am willing to try anything.
