I never thought I’d see the day my family’s business shut its gate for the final time. Things didn’t go as favourable as we had hoped but the time has come and now I have to move on. Thankfully I’ve already gotten a job offer after being on the search for a month to time things just right. Father and Uncle will be retiring and selling off assets. To be honest i didn’t even see this new job opportunity coming.

Starting in a week from now I’m moving from mining into the steel industry, this job could potentially be a life long one operating heavy equipment and giving me a better work life balance. Switching from 50 hours of straight days to a 12 hour rotational shift. It is dangerous yes, but mining also has its hazards. So it looks like I’ll be staying right at home in Ontario. I’ll be making a lot of changes to manage a balance between enjoying some down time and doing the many things the house needs to be brought up to date but I’m finally looking forward to actually getting paid vacation as well.

I don’t know how active I’ll be on here but I plan to leave this account active after closing my other one. I’m also on X and Bluesky even though I don’t post much. I will also be slower responding on telegram since I don’t know if I’ll be allowed to keep my phone with me.

2025 is gonna be an interesting year and I’ve got a lot of adjusting to do. Hopefully it’s all for the better.
