ScotiaCon 2017 - Guest of Honour
Posted 7 years agoGood news, everyone!
We are very pleased to announce that the GoH for this year's convention is faruku !
Faruku is based in the United Kingdom and has been producing fursuits since 2008. Specialising in creating eye catching semi-realistic fursuits you can see some examples of her work at the bottom of this page. Originally based in a studio set up in the city of Coventry, Faruku has moved back to the her native North of England. Not only producing fursuits, Faruku has been drawing for a number of years and has active in both traditional media and digital work.
Faruku is a keen motorist and has spent a great deal of effort bringing an Abarth 595 named Enzo into being possibly the loudest small car we have ever seen. This year the sound system on our stage could be not the loudest thing around. It’s not just lions that roar, their cars do too!

Thank you from Scotiacon 2015
Posted 9 years agoWe've survived the Apocalypse!
A big thank you to everyone for making Scotiacon 2015 another fantastic year.
We hope you've all enjoyed yourselves and we're all looking forward to making 2016 even grander.
We've tallied up all the generous donations in the auction, the donation boxes and various other ways to donate; and have come to a total of £2,089.40 for the Scottish Owl Centre. I'm sure this will make a big difference to the campaign to repair their roof.
Thank you all who donated and special thanks goes out to tribalyoshi who gave ALL of his Dealer's Den proceeds to the charity.
We are of course looking at ways to improve everyone's experience and make the convention all it can possibly be and more, so if you have any feedback then please email us at events[at]scotiacon.co.uk or simply post your feedback to the forum : https://www.scotiacon.co.uk/showthr.....-2015-feedback

Conbook submissions open
Posted 9 years agoThis is your chance to see your art loud and proud in a genuine, certified, bonafide, one-of-a-kind, full colour, glossy, shiny conbook!
Our mascot, Wallace needs good tidings in the form of arts to stave off post apocalyptic blues.
Submissions in by October 10th 2015 and no later. Anything after this date may not be used.
Please email your submissions to: [email protected]
Image requirements:
- Submissions no later than October 10th 2015.
- 300 DPI with a CMYK colour profile.
- PNG format.
- Maximum of 2500 x 3500 pixels.
- Theme orientated – Your idea of the apocalypse.
- Does not have to feature Wallace.
The maximum size of the image is A4 sized, however smaller images are perfect as well. These are images we can put around the text and use to liven up the conbook.
Please make sure your artwork has a CMYK colour profile. RGB colour profiles will be accepted but we cannot ensure that the colours will stay the same brightness. Converting from RBG to CMYK tends to dampen down the colours. It is at your own risk if you decide to have us convert the colour profile for you.
Do send colour images.
Don't send anything lewd.
Do tell us who you are so we can credit you. (+ website /fa link)
Don't send obscure file formats.
Do have fun with it, go wild.
We cannot guarantee your art will make it in to our conbook.
(BY-NC-ND 2.0 UK) you submit your work, you agree to let us publish your work under it too. To find out what that means for you, visit http://creativecommons.org/licenses.....-nc-nd/2.0/uk/

Posted 10 years agoA big thank you to everyone who attended Scotiacon this year. We are delighted that it went well and look forward to next year and making it even better for you all. We will be releasing the charity amount once we have double checked the donations and collection pots have all been added to the total.
If you do have any feedback please email it to the events@ scotiacon.co.uk email address and we will try and use it to improve what we do.
A few things we hope to do next year:
* Formally introduce fursuit badges as an option.
* Release timetable earlier and in alternative formats.
* Extend day ticket policy to cater for demand better.
* Provision for more secondary interest events.
The staff will obviously be taking some rest after the convention and reviewing the 2014 convention before deciding on any changes needed. This will include the recruitment of any additional staff as roles are identified.
Thank you again, we hope to see you all again next year!

Guest of Honour and charity for 2014
Posted 11 years agoWe are pleased to announce our Guest of Honour for 2014 at Scotiacon. We will be welcoming madebymercury a fursuit builder who also happens to draw artwork as well. It's like getting two people in one. We hope you will enjoy her attendance this year.
We also have to turn out attention to the charity we will be supporting this year. World Horse Welfare is a charity dedicated to the protection and rehabilitation of horses. Their invaluable work will be boosted by what we can raise for them.

Scotiacon 2014 - The theme of the Superhero!
Posted 11 years agoGood news everyone! The searchlights are all activated and we can reveal to you our theme for 2014's Scotiacon. We will be following the brave superheroes the likes of whom have never been seen before. Underwear will be on the outside, the men will be in tights or if you prefer and happen to be a budding evil genius (bonus points for evil doctors that went to medical school).
We will shortly be announcing the opening of registration and also out guest for this year's convention. We think they are positively souper.
That pun.... was awful. Sorry about that, catch me if you can at the convention and you might be able to stop my language based horrors.

Scotiacon 2014 7th - 9th November 2014
Posted 11 years agoWe know those who have attended Scotiacon in previous years wanted to know what was happening in 2014. Well now we can reveal things to you.
Scotiacon is moving to November for a few reasons. It gives us a much better price to you for hotel accommodation and the summer was simply getting too crowded with events to go to so we will be thought it would be best to solve both those things in one go. This was raised to us at the feedback sessions and it gives us an ideal chance to build on our previous successful years.
That is not the only change though, we are regretfully leaving Inverness. The city has been fantastic for us and allowed us to become established as an event, but good things can't last and we were getting a bit tight on event space. We will be moving to the Mercure Livingston which is about twenty minutes outside of Edinburgh. The hotel features include a full set of event rooms, open bar area and fireplace with a real fire (no singed tails please), a swimming pool and gym area and more than a hundred bedrooms. The hotel offers free parking, free wifi to guests (with faster options at a charge) and easy access from road, rail and bus.
http://www.mercurelivingston.co.uk/
We will be announcing our guests, theme and registration date shortly.
Now onto the important details of pricing:
Con fees:
Attendee: £65.00
Attendee with Eat Scotland event: £70.00
Sponsor: £105
Sponsors will get free entry into the Eat Scotland event and other surprises and treats. The Eat Scotland event is a food tasting event that samples different Scottish foods each year. Whilst it is possible to book this at the convention itself, spaces are limited as the hotel has to get the food bought in and prepared for us. So buying ES with the attendee membership guarantees a place. There will be an additional charge to standard attendees that wish to upgrade at the con which will be more than £5.
Rooms:
Single room per night: £70.00
Double and twin rooms per night: £80.00
All prices include breakfast in the hotel. So that means to share a room is £40.00 per person per night. To book a hotel room you must call the events team at the hotel to book giving Scotiacon as your booking reference. The hotel are working to provide an online booking discount code, but this depends on their headquarters setting it up.
