MOWi Con 2017
Posted 7 years agoWell, it wasn't much of a con, but its what we decided to call it. (aka Reiker) and visited from Oahu to my home Maui for Theo's birthday! I'm not too sure where to start on how much fun it was, but I know it was an unforgettable weekend for us all. I helped get a nice hotel I stayed at once. I thought that might be a good birthday gift for my friend and I think they all liked it!
Day 1: I finished work late the night before they arrived so I didn't get any sleep when they came in on the first flight of the day. I got us a hotel room at the Maui Ocean Club but the room wouldn't be ready for another 9 or 10 hours, so we killed time eating at Zippy's before going on a little stroll at Target. I took them to the Maui Ocean Center to see some feesh and use up these free passes I've been saving for a special occasion. It was really nice to go to the Ocean Center since I hadn't been there since Elementary. Not much has changed since then, but it was still nice to go. We went back into town and got some Guri Guri. I usually take when he visits family, and I guess he told the Oahu furs that they just had to have some of their strawberry and pineapple sherbet. Since I work in the same company(ish) as the Ocean Club, I decided to get some cream horns from Stillwells, a local bakery, as a little treat for the front office. I figured it would be a nice little way of saying thank you for letting me use my discount at their hotel. It was still a few hours before the room would be ready so we chilled by their pool which was nice and relaxing. Once we got the call that the room was ready, we were a little shocked to find out how much space it had! Very roomy and a great ocean view. It was great seeing the smile on my friends' faces. We decided to suit up and take some pics in fursuit which is always a lot of fun, then finished up the night with this special prime rib dinner the hotel does.
Day 2: Woke up super early to make our zipline reservation at Pi'iholo Ranch. The tour guides were so awesome. I really liked their terrible puns and dad jokes. If only I had a pen and paper to write them all down. The ziplining was pretty thrilling, I almost wanted to stop at their 3rd line. The tour ended a little earlier than expected, probably because our group was a little smaller than usual, which was fine. It gave us time to have some lunch at Tasty Crust, a little restaurant near my house. We headed to Big Beach, hoping to meet up with and some of her friends, but we just missed her. After a quick dip, I let Blargh drive us back to the hotel. Im still surprised that we made it back in one piece! Reiker decided to book us a little sunset booze cruise for that night and jet skiing tomorrow. It was so impromptu! We got all cleaned up for the cruise, which was nice and relaxing. I didn't take too many pictures since I was scared my phone would slip out of my hand and into the cold depths of the pacific ocean. Reiker turned in early and the rest of us took a late night stroll before heading to bed.
Day 3: Dawn of the third and final day, I know we didn't want to check out already, which would have been at 10am. Gave the front desk a call and booked the room for one more night, that way we could stay there until the guys' flight at 10pm. We were a little early for our jet skiing so we hung out for a little bit. I felt like a turtle around everyone! I could barely control the thing at 25mph so I pretty much cruised around and watched the guys circle around me over and over again lol. Had some lunch at Star Noodle which was soooooo goooooodddddddddd. I've been craving it since we ate there. Headed back to the room and relaxed for the rest of the day. Took some video and pictures in suit one last time. The drive to the airport was long and bittersweet, but I was glad that my friends had a really good time and it seems like they wanna come back next year! One last stop at Krispy Kreme for some doughnuts (Oahu doesn't have one surprisingly) and they were off to their gate.
Im really looking forward to seeing them come again! Made some great memories and bonded with even better friends. Maybe I should make more trips to Oahu.....hmmmm....
