Posted 2 years agoI'm not going to say I'm back yet because everytime I try to do that I go under again for another 2 years.
But! As with the recent art showing up, one could gather that I've been slowly grinding my cobweb laden gears and getting back into some type of swing of things. Depression and anxiety are a beast, and the recovery from them is way longer than I would like...and I'm not even out of the woods.
BUT! I'm going to keep trying to plunk along. A lot of the recent postings are things I just kind of ecked out over the time followed by a slow stream of overdue stuff finally getting posting and done.
Will there be more? Who knows!
Will this be the year Mebs gets enough of their old inertia back to start moving forward into progressing on things? Hopeful!!
Will this be the year Mebs finally opens for commissions again?? MAYBE!

Obligatory "Not Dead" journal.
Posted 5 years agoI'm the worst at communicating, but I feel the need to give a heads up that I'm not dead. I think the main crutch has been I put myself into a weird mindset of "oh god, all these have taken so long so I need to do something extra special" and THEN NOTHING HAPPENS cause I overhyped and made it too big and intimidating in my head.
For the folks on the list, I still intend and will get those commissions done or die trying. But as always, I will also understand that with the time it's taken if refunds are preferred I won't fault. I don't want to leave them undone, but I also accept I am SLOW as HECK.
Other than that, mostly been focusing on comic stuff. I need to start doing like...non-comic art more. One day. One day.

Time keeps on slipping slipping...

The downside to having a comic I find is that it usually means everything else but comic stuff is SLOW AS HECK. Hence the many times I tend to be fairly inactive posting stuff. It isn't that I am not working, but just what I work on the most I never feel the need to post on FA since that's what the comic sites are for. X_x
But I do intend to try to get more non-DMFA stuff up and about. Mostly just been a crazy year. Had relatives die, just about every friend of mine move (in most cases it was just moving from one end of town to the next. But still thats a lot of work and hustle!) and been overall trying to juggle productivity with not turning into a cave-hermit. Also I think I lost about 2 weeks of my life to Stardew Valley at one point. It was kind of a blur. X_o
But I mostly just wanted to post the obligatory "I'm not dead yet!" journal and update my To-Do list. Which at this point is getting a bit insane at how long those have taken. I always feel genuinely bad when folks inquire about commissions because I don't think they ever truly understand the ABSOLUTE SLOWNESS that is me. Where I'm all seeing folks who do streams and are whirling out lovely art in a single night making me jealous as heck. I'm really hoping to nail down these last few things in the summer since I tend to be a little more active (winter always hands me my face). But now that I've said that I expect nothing short of all my plans going haywire.
That said, I hope everyone is having an ok year so far. It seems like for a lot of folks this year has been handing them their faces. x_O

My (2015) policy regarding DMFA mature art
Posted 9 years agoI figure I'd make a journal just for posterity sake of my general stance when it comes to mature artwork or folks asking about using DMFA characters for things. Granted this may change as life goes on, but as it stands when I make this journal this is my general feel about things.
The really short edition is: "MeEeEeeEEeeeEeeeeh...." followed by me rolling around on the ground in apathy.
The longer edition is this though.
I am a lazy apathetic slug-creature at best who doesn't want or care to spend time playing internet nanny and track down folks to shake my finger tsk tsk style at them. If someone is really hankering to get some mature art involving one or some of the DMFA characters, I'm not going to bring down Zeus' thunder cause ultimately I don't care all that much. The only times in which I will likely raise my head above the murky waters to breathe angry warbles at someone is if they do any of these things.
1: Take the characters and try to claim they are their characters.
2: Publish them in inappropriate places and don't properly tag/censor them.
3: Try to treat what they have gotten as some indicator of it being canon.
4: Folks do this to more personal characters or characters of mine that aren't in the comic. (I'd be more weirded out by folks drawing porn of the Ambaaargh or Mikelo than I would of Mab)
4b: Keep in mind that because when I started this comic, some of the characters were given to me by other folks and thus aren't fully my characters. In most cases the original owners have kind of vanished or are fairly mellow, but I generally try to veer away from things involving them just cause of courtesy Characters like Alexsi, Merlitz, Aaryanna, Pyroduck, and Wildy were originally friends characters who while I haven't heard from them in years (or in the case of Alexsi her original owner passed away so seeing mature art of her character would just be kind of creepy to me) they may still be about. So while I personally am in the MeEeEeeh mellow camp, there's always a chance they may not be. Where as characters like Chazore and Jakob or any character where you see a character name © their owner at the bottom of the page are cameos and thus don't belong to me at all.
If in doubt who belongs what, folks are free to ask. Honestly when I started the comic I was a doof in high school who didn't really think or know much about character ownership and copyrights so its just a wacky mess at points. But really, if you want to draw or get a pic drawn of Abel shaking some cock maracas or something, I'm not going to throw a fit. I don't got time to throw a fit over cock maracas people. LIFE IS TOO SHORT FOR COCK MARACA FITS. >:U
Honestly if there is something that kind of annoys me, it is when folks go and get something that is very obviously catered to their interests done...and then they try to present it to me as a gift in the "hey I got art of your character. you like?" cause chances are, I don't like. I have had a few times where someone tried to present a picture they had gotten obviously for themselves but then tried to double it down as a gift art for me and its like...no guys. No. If you want to get something for yourself, I ain't gonna begrudge ya. But at least be honest that it is something that you got for yourselves that I'm likely so-so to meh about.
If folks really want to double-check to see if I'd be ok with something, that is fair. There are a few themes that kind of actually squick me out and I'd prefer if DMFA characters were not done in them. But really I also realize that the internet gonna internet and odds are there's very little I could do to stop someone if they really wanted to draw DMFA characters being tortured and mutilated. That said, I'd prefer it folks didn't. I honestly get more uncomfortable about themes of violence and suffering over things like tiddies and dongs.
If folks are really worried their idea is going to make me uncomfortable versus just my usual "eh"*shrug*, you guys are always free to note and ask or just ask in this journal. Really odds are the fact someone is asking versus just doing it generally gives me the impression they actually care about my feelings so I try to be easygoing when possible.
I hope that clears some things up and for the most part, I hope that folks find amusement and enjoyment. At the end of the day I just try to draw doofy comics and art for folks to enjoy and I like to hope that is what other folks out there are doing too.

Really odds are the fact someone is asking versus just doing it generally gives me the impression they actually care about my feelings so I try to be easygoing when possible.
I hope that clears some things up and for the most part, I hope that folks find amusement and enjoyment. At the end of the day I just try to draw doofy comics and art for folks to enjoy and I like to hope that is what other folks out there are doing too.

Chugging Along...
Posted 9 years agoMainly the obligatory "I'm not dead yet!" journal. I always feel uneasy when I have stuff I owe but it feels like I'm a silent void on the place many folks use to check on progress. Also cause I realize communication is an important thingie-mabob.
Winter and I have a very hate-hate relationship and try as I may it never fails that the time between November and March I end up being a giant weinee-potato and seem to barely manage more than bare minimum activity. So I've been slow, moreso than usual. Things are starting to move along. I have full plans to get everything folks have paid for done. Cause dats how I roll. (That said, as always if you are in the mindset that the wait has been too long and would like a refund, I will more than understand and its more than fair)
But yah. Not dead, still chugging along. Gonna get through this to-do list even when it kills me!
I hope 2015 has been going well for folks so far.

Why hello thar 2015!
Posted 10 years agoMan...2014 was a strange year. It was pretty meh for most folks involved but also just kind of went super stupid fast. I seriously am not sure what happened to the latter half of the year. X_x
As for me, I'm swinging into gear. The family obligations are done, the moving dust has settled, and things are at a point where barring unforseen troubles sneak up I should be good to just hunker down and focus on work and art. There's a lot I need to get done, a lot I want to get done, and a lot I hope to get done.
I generally don't do much in the way of resolutions, but I did decide to give a go at a couple: primarily just taking the year to focus on owed art and the comic. But also to try to do more things for fun and for social stuff. But all in all it will be little steps at a time.
So here's to 2015 and what will hopefully be (with a bit of elbow grease and hard work) a very productive year. Cheers!

Well then! I just noticed I had just hit the 6k watcher thingie and I'm trying to get back into action amidst all the inking of commissions ever. That whole being more social and active and stuff. It's wacky. So I figure what better silly thing to do than as a thanks to the folks watching me, offer a free sketchy to the folks watching me.
How dis gonna work
This will sort of be in the form of a wing-it for funsies, where I just take a concept and run skittering in the night with it. So there won't be much in the way of previews or revisions. So be sure that you are ok with that before you submit things cause I'd feel all sorts of mega-sad if you get selected and you were hoping for a very particular picture of your character and ended up disappointed. ;~;
Basically if you are watching me, just post in this journal with this handy dandy form-like thing!

The sketch will be all ages in nature I don't have any issues if your reference sheets have dongle-bits in them, but keep in mind there won't be dongle bits showing in the sketch if you are selected. :B
After a couple days, I'll randomly select a person from the list and will draw a picture for them. There is a slight chance I may take a second sketchy, there is a chance I may up the image to colour depending on my finicky nature. IT WILL BE AN ADVENTURE FOR ALL OF US! Just keep in mind that odds are I'm going to be crazy slow (knowing my speed I'll be up to 7k watchers by the time I finish X_x ) since this is gonna be a sketch done in between not only the comic but also commissions. So pretty much that derpy 15 minutes in the morning where I'm still waiting for the coffee to kick in.
If folks have any questions, feel free to ask. But other than that, HAVE AT YE.

How's everyone doing these days? So far it seems like 2014 has been either meh or EVERYTHING IS ON FIRE AWFUL for folks. Right now I'm battling my usual fall-season snufflegeddon. Gonna be moving to a new apartment in November...all sorts of nervous and excited. (Fear not! It's a move for a good reason. Better place, cheaper rent, cool neighbors, good stuff all around!) Scuttling away on the commission list. A fair amount of them have some degree of work on them at this point. It's just that frustrating part where none of them have gotten to a point they are finished so it ends up being this span of tumbleweeds.
But it's my fingers crossed hopeful goal to get through most all of them by year's end. Until I get them done, I have no plans to open for any further commissions since I'd feel bad to the folks waiting on their stuff. At the same time, I do want to try to draw for other folks. I have toyed with the idea of attempting a couple art trades but I expect I'd be even slower on those and I don't even remember how one goes about that without sounding all hurr-durr creeper town. Such is life!
In the meantime though, I hope you are all doing well. I'd love to hear some stuff happening in your guys lives, be it good news or just news in general.

Living vicariously through ones characters...
Posted 11 years agoSo I recently had a conversation about living vicariously through one's characters. In the sense that someone explained that for some folks when it comes to porn commissions and their avatars that it's because they like sex so hey! It makes sense for their character to be having sex because then in a sense it's like they themselves having sex.
And it dawned on me that this may be why whenever I get asked what I would like a picture of...the first thing that always comes to mind is of my characters napping. ITS WHAT I WANT TO BE DOING MYSELF. DX

Don't draw my characters...?

I've seen this a couple times while cruising the FA superhighway. On some galleries there will be a message of "Don't draw my characters unless I give you permission." and it suprises and confuses me abit. I personally get a hoot out of seeing characters of mine drawn by others and there is usually a bit of "squee!" when I get suprised with a giftart.
I can only guess the permission thing is in response to porn? In the sense people don't want you drawing their characters out of the blue boinking seventeen other characters without your sayso. Which, I guess I can understand some of that since it is kind of wierd seeing porn of my own characters...but since I do a webcomic I tend to just shrug and figure thats part of the territory of doing a comic. But then again...I've seen people who write "please don't draw my characters in porn without asking." and then just "don't draw my characters unless I give you permission" which gives me the impression that any and all art needs to be ok'd.
And I've heard a few times on the internet travels of people who did a giftart only to get someone really upset that their character was drawn without their sayso...even when the picture was completely clean. So it just confuzzles me. And it kind of makes it intimidating to draw random giftarts at times (Well...unless I'm trolling Freehaven :B) cause part of me likes the whole "suprise!" squee feeling that I get when I get suprise giftarts and so I want to do similar. But on the same time I really don't like the idea of taking time to draw a picture for someone only for the risk of me getting my face chewed off when I could have taken that time to draw something else.
