Plans for 2023
Posted a year ago* My focus has been shifted to the comic Gaypardo. Mainly the spin-off, written by Big Cats, but whenever time allows we'll advance the plot of both adult and cub timelines at a pace of 2 to 1;
* Side projects will also slowly be developed in the background, but they shall never take center stage. If you want more details, this blog post should clarify most of the reasons;
* Zodd and I are taking commissions through Patreon. The idea is to start a tight-knit community of creativity-driven individuals who create all sorts of materials (mostly comics) together. At the price of $22.5 USD for a colored character art with no background or 1 comic panel with 2 characters from the waist up, our prices are highly competitive.
The downside to this approach is that we have a few restrictions on what we'll draw. Check the Patreon about page to learn more.
* To facilitate the creation of such a community, part of the Discord server previously only available to Big Cats is now available to the public. If you're creatively engaged by Gaypardo, I invite you to join the server and form an awesome community of cool, creative fuzzies coming together to create stuff and be imaginative together.
A great 2023 to all.

2022 Wrap-up
Posted 2 years agoSo, I'm still alive!
I guess that's a good thing. The discomfort is constant, but after being like this for so long you sort of get used to it. Can't tell if I'm still getting worse or if it is just the weather that destroys my disposition, so I might wait out the winter and see how I feel in the summer, assuming I can make it that far. I feel so drowsy all day long, and it takes a massive effort to get anything done.
I was a little late on finishing Gaypardo's holiday celebration comic, which we created as a way to test the waters and see how much work it would take to make full colored strips in 4K resolution in preparation for the new season focusing on the adventures of adult Aracê once more. Spoiler alert: it's a lot of work. And a massive test of patience. That works for me, as I have to take constant breaks from the computer anyway, but man, does it take much, much longer to finish a new strip this way.
Until I can improve the current workflow, the rate in which we post new comic strips will be reduced. Expect new strips every 15 days at least. Anything faster than that, consider yourself lucky! Don't think anyone is holding their breath for new Gaypardo strips, but hey, there you go. XD
Big Cats get to see two new characters that will make their debut in this new season. Zodd did a spectacular work on those.
And, on that note, the results are in!
Poll results: Gaypardo strip orientation
Gaypardo here on FA will continue being vertical. Thanks to everyone who cast their vote. We thought most people would go for the horizontal orientation, since you can see it all on the screen at once, but we're happy that so many appreciate the bigger panels with more details, despite it being a little bit less convenient to read.
There were 15 votes in total.
7 for horizontal (47%)
8 for vertical (53%).
Some people who couldn't vote also stated they prefer the vertical layout.
For those interested in the visual novel, progress has also been made on that front. I worked on several mock-ups for the interface and refined extra gameplay concepts. There was a lot of typing, so I had to take a small break to allow my wrists to rest (oooh everything hurts foreverrrr), so I don't have anything to show for it yet, but things are underway.
The poll asking you about explicit content closes today, but it's safe to assume that you are mostly NOT interested in explicit content in a visual novel that is a Gaypardo spin-off.
Poll results: explicit content in a visual novel
There were 12 votes in total.
5 people (42%) chose "no explicit content at all."
3 people (25%) chose "must have explicit content."
4 people (33%) don't care one way or the other and are just happy to interact with the characters in whatever ways.
Again, these results were surprising, as I was expecting most voters to go for explicit content. But I'm surprised in a positive way. It's nice to see that the majority expect more than just sex from their furry content.
That said, The Lion's Share, being more of a dating simulator than what The Cheetah In My Backyard was ever meant to be, I feel explicit content can improve the experience, as one thing usually leads to the other.
For this reason, I decided to create two versions of the VN.
The first version will be clean, meaning that any potential sexual content will be only suggestions. Everything will be left to your imagination.
This version will be available for free on Steam upon release, so everyone will be able to enjoy it. This can work as a nice way to bring more attention to Gaypardo, as more people might be willing to try it if they don't have to pay for it.
Sometimes that kind of strategy backfires (if it's free, it means it's worthless), but I guess we'll see what happens. Worst case scenario, our existing fan-base will be able to enjoy it at their own leisure and at no additional cost.
The second version will be adult, meaning there will be explicit depictions of sex in both visual and textual mediums. There will also be sex mini-games, and your performance in those mini-games will affect your progression.
This version will cost money, and will be sold as DLC to the base, free game. Price is still undecided. Probably something in between $5 and $15.
Separating the game in these versions will allow me to release the game a bit earlier as the sex stuff would require a lot of additional coding (and visual assets). After the initial release, I can then focus on more elaborate gameplay mechanics and release it as an improved version of the base game. Those seeking a more comprehensive experience then can get it at a cost.
Minor things
As you may have noticed if you're a watcher, I've been archiving all the art I've made through the years (the ones I could find anyway - lots of lost art, unfortunately) and reposting them here on FA. I figure that's still the best place to archive it for posterity, now that I learned that non-patrons cannot leave comments or interact with public posts besides reading it. I was hoping to make my Patreon a hub for all my stuff, regardless of having patrons or not, but it didn't work out that way! If people have to pay to interact with my content, that means no one would ever, and that would make me a very sad jaguar. We all need validation every now and then, eh!
I won't be able to continue posting my book 4! in its entirety here as I was previously doing, as now FA does not allow you to upload files outside their dimension limitations. Now the uploader calculates dimension based on pixel density, so it's not possible to trick the system into uploading really long files anymore. I may still post the chapter intro art as separate files, but the text will either be posted as PDF or will be made available somewhere else, probably on Patreon. If anyone was reading it, I'll make a point of uploading the text here on FA, but if not, I'll just keep the text files on Patreon.
That's it for 2022. Man, what a sucky year. Still, I haven't died, so I guess it wasn't a total failure. Unless you count surviving as a failure. Jury's still out on that one.
Hope you all have a great 2023.
Let's accomplish great things, shall we?
Much love,
Kattanaita

Visual novels and explicit sexual content
Posted 2 years agoFor those who do not follow my other projects besides Gaypardo, I’m currently developing a visual novel. With Patreon’s help, I thought I could develop it more effectively, but it doesn’t seem like it’s going to work the way I was hoping. For this reason, I reworked the plans for the visual novel and came up with a simpler idea I can develop mostly by myself without the need for a high volume of art assets — that was what I needed the most help with in the first place.
You can check this blog post for more details on the new project, but, long story short, the new visual novel is going to be a Gaypardo spin-off more akin to a dating simulator. Its working title is “The Lion’s Share,” which is the name of one of the nightclubs Kenneth owns. The player becomes a regular during their 3-month stay in town to complete a job commissioned by a local shop. Before you ask, no, Aracê is not going to be in it. But Alex, Kenneth, Robert and a few others who haven’t been introduced yet will.
I’ve got most of the details already figured out, however I haven’t decided yet on explicit / NSFW content. If I’m going to add explicit sexual content to the game, I want to have that in mind from the get-go so it’s an intrinsic part of the game design, and therefore becomes something more meaningful than just some cheap side content tacked on just to garner more attention.
The game by itself will be divided into 3 different gameplay styles. The first one is a time / resource management portion in which you control your daily activities in order to earn enough money to spend at the nightclub, and also have enough energy to last the night. The nightclub portion will provide you with the opportunity to interact with other characters and get to know them — and possibly even date them. The third aspect is defined by mini-games that are more action oriented to provide variety to the gameplay.
Fans of Gaypardo, I’d like your input on what you’d prefer. Would you prefer a game focused on clean interactions with the characters and only implied sexual interactions (for instance, a fade to black and a skip to next morning if you manage to convince a character to go to bed with you), or would you rather sex be an integral part of gameplay, giving you the opportunity to directly discuss sex with the characters while also making some mini-games revolve around those sexual interactions?
Bear in mind that, regardless of your preference, this game will have an M (mature) rating due to its nature of spending nights in a gay nightclub, having gay interactions with gay characters. It will all be very gay. Having explicit sexual interactions will bump the rating to AO (adults only), which I don’t think would change anything in regard to its audience. The point I’m trying to make is that the nature of the game is already sexual to some extent, we’re just trying to define how sexual it all is going to be.
If you're interested in sharing your opinion on this matter, I invite you to cast your vote in the poll. It's on Patreon, but it’s open to anyone.
Let your opinion be known! The poll will be up until December 31st, 2022.
Thank you, and have a great one!

State of affairs
Posted 2 years agoThough my health feels like a roll of the dice most days, I've been feeling a bit better overall lately.
I've been slowly resuming work on my projects. As long as I take a lot of breaks I can get things accomplished, so I've been adjusting to a new lifestyle that doesn't allow me to accomplish things as fast as I used to, but at least I'm not just sitting around doing nothing and feeling sorry for myself.
I'm currently working on a new book, "Fursona: A Reason to Live," which is my main project at the moment, and a visual novel, "The Cheetah in my Backyard," that shall be my side-project. If you're interested in learning more about either of those projects, I wrote about them extensively on my Patreon page, which I started in an attempt to raise some funds to make the visual novel happen. I put a lot of effort into it, and I believe there's value for supporters as much as there is for me, so hopefully this can be a positive and fun experience for everyone involved.
Should you have some money to spare and think my ideas could result into something interesting, I invite you to take a look at my Patreon and see what I'm planning to accomplish and how I plan to do it.
Starting this week, I shall resume work on Gaypardo, so you might be seeing new comic strips soon. To cut costs with servers, I'm taking Gaypardo's site down and hosting all strips on Patreon instead, but it will be free like always; there's no need to sign up or pay to read the strips. Once it's all caught up, you can check new strips there one week before we post them to social media, so it might be worth giving it a follow if you want to be on top of things.
Hope you all have been well.
All the best,
Kattanaita

Gaypardo post-mortem / looking for new creative partners
Posted 2 years ago zodd95 and I are discontinuing production on our 4 year long comic strip series "Gaypardo."
Gaypardo in general has reached a point of stagnation that can no longer justify the time and effort we put into it. I've been facing health problems that do not seem to be improving, and I want to make the most of the possibly short time I might have available to try to achieve some success with different projects. Gaypardo clearly is not it.
Such stagnation comes to me as a sign of failure – perhaps my writing was not good enough to establish a meaningful connection with the general audience. The characters failed to be charismatic enough to leap out of the panels they originated from and become an active part of someone else's life as inspiration or support.
One might argue I do not have what it takes – my parents would certainly agree – and perhaps art of any kind might not be my one true calling, but I haven't given up yet. I do believe I have something useful and worthy to share with the world. Wishful thinking? Who knows, but there's only one way to find out.
We hope the handful of Gaypardo fans and supporters that stuck with us throughout these years understand our choice. Know that you are appreciated, and we thank you for your support.
I'm looking for new creative partners for a collaboration.
Although I'm currently working on a new book, I am also looking for a partner to work on a side-project to devote myself to during my spare time. Working with a partner will not only allow us to reach results faster, but it will also serve as mutual motivation.
Are you creatively driven, focused and a hard-worker? Do you have creative ideas you feel could be better developed with the help of a partner? Drop me a message and let's talk about that! Easiest way to get in touch with me is through Telegram, but you can also drop me a note.
Endeavors that I've wanted to be part of – but that would require collaborators – include a visual novel, comic book, small-scale video game, and perhaps even a novel. I'm open to other ideas as well. It's all about using our strongest skills to better aid the project to come to fruition.
My strongest skills revolve around project planning and management. I've dealt with all aspects of production, release and marketing of several self-published books. I've also worked with design for 7 years (both graphics and web design) for a marketing company. I have some coding experience and I've created several interfaces and small applications for user interaction on Twitch.
So if you're also looking for a creative partner who is serious about working on a collaborative project together, let me know! Let's create something awesome together!

Submission spam incoming! - 10 years since last book
Posted 2 years agoThis year marks 10 years since I last published an original book.
On June 14th, 2012, I released a completely revamped version of my furry teenage drama "Por Um Abraço Seu." The book included a lot of extra content like character profiles, background information on the place where the story takes place and other information about elements and inspirations for the plot and its characters.
Later that year, in October, I released my last fully fledged book I ever wrote, a work that took 4 full years of production, "4!" This one wasn't a furry novel, however, and depicts the journey of a man concerned about the conservation of cheetahs.
Both of them were a culmination of not only years of writing skills, but also design skills. PUAS has a lot of art and interesting designs scattered across the book. 4! was a much ambitious project, with lots of unique designs, including spine art. I was responsible for the entire production of both books - design, planning, layout, art, content, marketing, release, etc.
I'll be posting both books in full in my gallery. I moved a lot and since then lost the original files. That means I only have flat PDFs of the print-ready files, which is what I'll be posting here.
I just want to give a heads-up to my watchers as there's going to be a lot of daily uploads coming from me in the next few months, as I'll post the entire content of these two books as single submissions here on FA so everyone who can read Portuguese can enjoy my work for free. Hopefully everyone else can appreciate the design work and the eventual artwork scattered across the books.
Pages with graphical elements will be posted in pairs as a single submission. The pages containing just text will be posted in groups of 6 as a single submission.
If you decide to unwatch because of that, thanks for your support up until now!
Catch you when I release my next book in about 2 years, which hopefully shall be my first book fully in English.
Until then, all the best!

3 years, 200 strips, 300 customs
Posted 3 years agoWith so many accumulated failures over the years, I'm happy to say that Gaypardo hasn't followed suit. The sheer amount of engagement from the community has been outstanding, and we just wish we could provide you with more strips. We just completed 200 strips, which is an amazing milestone. It took us 3 years to get here, and hopefully it will keep going for many more years, as Gaypardo has a lot more planned!
Again I'd like to thank zodd95 for all the art he's provided to the project over these 3 years. Without him none of this would've been possible.
This year we're also introduced a feature that allows users to replace the text on the any of the strips for whatever they like and share it with others, and in 8 months we have surpassed 300 custom strips made by the community. Special shout-outs to the regulars, metalexveemon, allenm10, onivrask, tidesoffate, spotsdalmatian as well as all the others who contributed with your creativity over the months; it's been super fun and we love reading your customs!
At the rate the customs are going, we'll only be able to do a celebration for 500 strips, as now we're back to posting 2 strips a week, and that takes up most of our free time. On top of that we are also working on building our own Patreon and seeing how that works out.
As side projects we're also working on visual novels that might still be a year or so away, but could also become a nice expansion of the plot.
Thank you for your support, and we hope you stick around for many more years to come!
Congrats, everyone, for making this such a great community to be in.
You rock!

Gaypardo #100 - 2 year celebration
Posted 4 years agoToday we celebrate 2 years of Gaypardo. We've been posting at least 1 strip a week uninterruptedly (save for when we were also working on Reign Under, there was always a 1 week break every 2 weeks so we could work on that) for all this time. A couple of months ago we bumped it up to twice a week, and hopefully we can keep it up for the foreseeable future.
Coincidentally, we're also celebrating the 100th comic strip today!
It is quite the milestone, considering it took me many tries to get the project off the ground. It is worth mentioning that without zodd95's goodwill and support, none of this would've been possible. I tried doing it all myself, but it took too long. Commissioning artists to do the art for me was too expensive and I could no longer afford it. So thanks, zodd95 for being a fundamental piece in making this dream come true!
To celebrate this momentous occasion, the Gaypardo website now has a feature that allows you to replace the text on each of the released strips with your own and share with your friends. As with any programming endeavor, the complexity of such a system means it took much longer than what I initially expected, and therefore right now you can only find the 1st strip in its interactive version.
I rushed it so the new site would be 'ready' for this celebration. I need to polish the automation system, and then finish all the other pages of the website. This new version will include character profiles, better navigation, and it will actually work as a website. The previous version was a single page script that would replace the information on the page for the appropriate strip number. Now I am writing a script that will generate full HTML pages for each new strip, so I don't have to manually create one every time a new strip goes live. That means it automatically applies the text replacement system and makes it more share-friendly.
Since we're also reworking the strips for the release of a book next year, those two tasks will happen concurrently. Of course, that means a bit of an initial delay until we can get everything into gear, but hopefully we won't run into many roadblocks.
Batches of new strips will be uploaded to the website after all of that is done. I expect that the new site will be caught up with the current number of strips by the end of the year.
That means that the only places you'll be able to find new comic strips now are zodd95's profile or Gaypardo's Instagram. After that, all three places will get new strips at the same time.
I hope you enjoy this little treat. We have many plans for the future of the series, and we hope you stick around to witness it!
In the meantime, share with us your own versions of the comic strip on the social medias. We'll be waiting!
All the best and thank you for your support.
