Fixing my Oekaki board
Posted 5 years agoHey, if you didn't know my oekaki is still there... and registration is fixed I've removed some functionality that no longer works, at least until I get around to fixing it. there's probably still plenty not working, if you find something, feel free to message me on Telegram (I'll see it faster there... @bluefurry)
Some things you should be aware of:
1. Registration no longer emails an activation key, the activation is there on the screen after you register (it's obfuscated a little to stop bots)
2. Don't forget your password, because password recovery isn't working yet
3. Already forgot your password, I can set it to something new and send it to the email on record, ping me on Telegram (@bluefurry)
4. The app is still java... you'll need to use something other than chrome as it no longer supports java. you'll also have to jump through hoops to get it to work, I don't have a tutorial for that, but if someone figures it out, feel free to post it below. It has to do with security permissions in java and internet options. I've gotten it to work, you probably can too.
5. Even without java access, you can still view and comment. Everyone likes comments esp argonvile who still draws there after all this time.
6. Set up a Telegram channel, noone in there yet but: https://t.me/bluefurry_oekaki
Made it this far? the URL is the same as it's always been: http://www.bluefurry.com

Further Confusion's change to the Code of Conduct
Posted 7 years agoThere was a recent change to the FC Code of conduct, which I'm sure most of you have heard about:
"Membership
Though we work to ensure that all interested individuals may join us, FurCon reserves the right to deny or revoke memberships for any reason including but not limited to safety concerns and Code of Conduct violations. In the rare case that a membership needs to be revoked, we will pursue all available channels of communication to avoid surprises or misunderstandings.
For the safety of our attendees, Further Confusion does not allow attendance by those with a history of sexual violence or pedophilia. If you are unsure whether your ability to attend is affected by this rule, please reach out to [email protected]."
While I agree that someone that does these deplorable things should be dealt with legally and given a punishment deamed appropriate by the law, I do not believe it's our responsibility to do more than give evidence where it is needed to help this process. Once someone has finished the punishment dealt them legally, they should be given the chance to live their life and reform.
I cannot condone this policy change as it's written, it excludes people who need our support, who need us to guide them to be better people. Shunning, excluding them on something that may have happened decades ago with no recidivism is wrong. To believe people can't change and improve themselves is wrong.
Until this policy is rewritten, I'll be no longer attending FC and will encourage others to do the same. I've requested a refund of my registration.
If you've already put a non-refundable deposit on a room, and believe the same, I suggest trying to get the FC Chairman to commit to refunding you before you cancel your room. otherwise go, make noise, and don't return unless they make the change.
Changes in the Code of Conduct shouldn't be made last minute like this, they shouldn't single out specific groups of people.
Change it to something like "We reserve the right to revoke a membership of anyone that presents an immediate danger to those in attendance to Further Confusion" and don't use it as a hammer or based on hearsay, use it judiciously as actually needed, not based on some boogieman societal fear.
Edit: I was thinking about this more and something else that burns me about this is it's not a Code of Conduct change, even though it's in the code of conduct. Code of conduct is there so you can be banned after an incident at the con. Behavior away from the con isn't the con's responsibility. they put this rule in and are now banning people before the con based on things that may have happened outside of the con years ago, banning people that have come to FC for years and obeyed the code of conduct all those years.

The end of an era
Posted 9 years agoAs browsers start to kill off Java plugins, it's with a heavy heart that I plan on shutting down the bluefurry.com oekaki site. Chrome killed Java and now Firefox plans on doing the same.
It was a fun run, from the first drawing posted on Feb 20th, 2001 to the last posted March 14, 2015
I'm going to leave the site up at least through the weekend and possibly through next week.
Is this it for Bluefurry.com? maybe? maybe not, I'm hanging onto the domain, maybe I'll do something else with it if some new tech happens.

My Furry Future
Posted 9 years agoSo, in an effort to become more productive and get away from my computer more, I've removed a buttload of people from my watch list. Leaving those whom I'm actually friends with or whom I'm watching more for content that porn. This should bring the number of submissions I actually see down to a manageable level.
I'm hoping this will provide me time for the following:
1. time to actually post comments occasionally
2. more focus as I'm not rapidly flipping through pictures anymore
3. more motivation to draw and post things for myself.
I'm not going anywhere, just working on lowering my internet created ADD so I can get more done.
Time to simplify :)
