Do Research Before you Commission ANY Artist! (PLEASE READ)
Posted 13 years agoThis is a warning journal. I do not have an artist's beware, yet, so this will have to do.
About a year or two ago, I commissioned this artist who opened up fursuit commissions to make some extra money. I liked her work, so I talked with her. She seem really nice and professional. The price of the suit would be about $600, and since I did not have that kind of money on me that moment, I saved $300 for a down payment so she could start the suit, and once she was done, she could get the other half. I asked her how long it would take for her to make it, and she said about 2 months. Well, this was quite a long time ago.
I have been nice to her and was understanding, but seeing how she was making MORE suits (ones that she was putting up for sale AND other people's commissions), I was a tad confused to where my suit was. I asked her MANY times (and politely, no less), for an update and a picture of how far she has gotten. THAT WAS IT. Nothing more, nothing less. After months and months of asking, she gave me a few crappy pictures of the WIP. I was ok for a while, and asked her to keep updating every so often.
After a while with NO updates WHATSOEVER, I was getting agitated. I was done being nice. I said to her, "Either give me my money back or finish the suit in two months for the money you already have". She tried to give me the unfinished suit so I can finish it myself, but I had to put my foot down. I cannot build a suit, I had no time to do so with two jobs, no workspace, and NO experience with fursuit building. I told her finish the suit with the money I have given her, and have it finished in two months. MORE than enough time, she had over a YEAR (OR MORE) to finish this damn suit.
SO THREE (coming on 4 months) of NO updates, I sent her a message today. "Update please on my suit? I have given you MORE than enough time to do something. This is VERY unprofessional."
And this is what she writes back: "I put the pieces up for sale a while ago. I have someone interested, so I'll have that money to you as soon as I receive it."
WTF.
Ok, I would have not been this mad if she had told me BEFORE what she decided about this situation... I am steaming mad because she let this go on for MONTHS and NEVER updated me with ANYTHING. I KNOW THIS NOW BECAUSE I APPROACHED HER.

EDIT: Seems like she made a journal about 11 days ago about refunds. Yea, THANKS FOR NOTIFYING ME OF THAT. Some people do NOT look at journals that often, nor have the time. It would have taken TWO seconds to put the fucking link on my page for me to read. TWO. SECONDS. Or when she had noticed that I had not replied to that journal, come to me through notes and talk to me there. Didn't have enough time to give updates? BS.
EDIT: I just find it really annoying that she is selling the parts to the suit before I could even have a say in it. Anthro, German Shepherd/African Wild Dog
3. What is the first thing your character would think of when she first wakes up?
"Wtf happened last night..."

rolls over and goes back to sleep
4. Your character's favorite outfit would be?
Her body jewelry, a tank top/beater, boxers or jeans, and a hoodie.
5. When your character looks into a mirror, what's the first thing they would notice?
Her massive ears!

Yep

Yes, she is supposed to be me.

She gets laid more than me, and she is an actual dog. OH and she has an awesome mohawk.

Posted 13 years agoSo my eye has been bothering me since earlier today, and I suspected it was a corneal tear. I have gotten these before, and they hurt like a BITCH. They are not fun at all :(
My mom took me to the eye doctor, and told me to leave my contact in until the optometrist can see it to prevent further tearing.
Anyway, this dumb ass tech was trying to give me an eye exam (Which she should have waited until the doctor has given her the OK) and told me to take OUT the contact. Yeeaaaa No. She did not listen to me before, and kind of blew off the fact that my eye was injured. I had to keep reminding her WHICH eye it was (the left one).
You know those things that puffs the bit of air into your eyes to check the pressure? Well, she was only testing my right eye for a vision test, which was ok since I needed a new prescription and might as well get one eye done, so the puff should have gone into THAT eye only, the uninjured one. I was watching her... and she started to move the damn machine to the left eye. Luckily I stopped her and asked, "You are examining my right eye, correct?"
"Yes, your right eye"
"You have this machine pointed to my LEFT eye."
"No, its to your right."
BITCH I should know my lefts and rights... then she said
"Oh I was thinking my left and my right"
>_> YEA. I was PISSED. If I did not stop her, she could really hurt my already hurting eye. And it was a good thing I kept my contact in, because when the doc gave me the OK, it hurt like a mother fucker.
ANYWAY. Turned out I was right; it was an abrasion/ulcer, and I got some antibiotics and yadda yadda and my eye is dilated which is pretty creepy, and now I put in some ointment which makes my eye look even more retarded. I am going back in tomorrow to see if there is any progress. Hopefully dumb bitch isn't there.
Forgive any typos, I have a really bad headache and I can only see out of one eye :( So no drawing tonight... hopefully tomorrow will be better

My eye feels a lot better today, so I went to the doc to see how the abrasion looked. She said it looks much better, its a lot smaller than it was but it is still noticeable. I still have to take those drops and leave my contact out for another few days, which is going to suck, but whatever. Its really hard to draw with one good eye :( BUT I am going again tomorrow to see how its doing again... it may be all gone by tomorrow hopefully. Trying to sleep last night was horrible, the eye was extremely painful and ointment sucks balls. Thank god I can manage to keep my eye open for more than 5 minutes, lol

gizgiz). I was his very last commissioner, and the subject of that piece was very dark. He was a good customer, buddy, and shepherd, and a lot of people will mourn for him.
Suicide is not a laughing matter. To me and to some people, suicide is a very selfish thing. Whether you did it with someone else involved or not, there are still people involved. Family, friends, etc. Yes, he did use an innocent trucker as his weapon and that was wrong, but I know how he probably felt.
When someone is in that state of mind, a person who was once very thoughtful of others and would never hurt anyone can change in an instant. That person who rammed his car into that truck was NOT him. That person was selfish to others and does not care about the consequences. I was once in that place, just wanting a way out. I tried, failed, and I am glad that I did.
"What doesn't kill you makes you stronger"... this quote is very dear to me and even in the darkest of times, helps me move forward. Things will get better, and things will get easier as time moves on.
Obviously, Giz was weak. I have no idea what took this shepherd strength away, all I know is that the person who was inside of his head was a lot stronger and much more evil then the shepherd we have grown to love. All that I hope for is that in his next life he will somehow stand up against his demons and become strong again. I hope that very much.
To the people who laugh about his death: I have nothing to say. Its very immature that people would do that, but I do not know what happened in their lives to have that reaction. I can understand that since he did endanger others, people look down on him. BUT what done is done, and we have to move on. He has never done anything wrong (to my knowledge), and should not be treated like that ESPECIALLY in death to his mistake. It was a stupid mistake, thoughtless, and horrible, but everyone makes mistakes, and everyone has been selfish at one point or another, and everyone has skeletons in their closets.
Anyway, that was my two cents. Do with it as you please. Haters, go ahead and spam his page, no one can stop you, just know that karma IS real. To others mourning his death, take his sudden ending as a lesson; never EVER think of suicide as a way out of the darkness.

Posted 13 years agoI have been waiting over a YEAR for this fursuit I commissioned. I don't really care so much as that its not done yet, because people DO have lives outside the furry community, but it is business and I was nice enough to let her have time. All I asked for is A PICTURE. One picture, showing me how much she has worked on it. I gave her SO many chances, and I get "I will post some this week". Few weeks go by, I ask wth, and its the same excuse. It gets old. She takes pictures of the other things that she is working on, and uploads various amounts of art pieces. Seriously, how hard is it to take ONE picture of some fur and foam??? I don't care if its perfect, I just want to see where my hard earned money is going to.
I told her if she does not upload an update by the end of this week, I am putting up an AB, and I would like my money back. I understand that down-payments are non-refundable, but if she barely touched it, I never saw proof that she did, or if she did not finish by the date, I should get my money. Hell, I need to pay bills (now that I have them, before I didn't).
So yea. /rant

I told her if she does not upload an update by the end of this week, I am putting up an AB, and I would like my money back. I understand that down-payments are non-refundable, but if she barely touched it, I never saw proof that she did, or if she did not finish by the date, I should get my money. Hell, I need to pay bills (now that I have them, before I didn't).

I will tell people who this person (not publicly though) if anyone wants to know, so if they want to commission her, they know the risk.
