Posted 4 months agoMost people who follow the news from Ukraine have likely been focused on the Ukrainian army's "thunder run" on Vladivostok, which has taken a small town whose name looks like something like "Sudsy" or "Sudzy" (Sudzha) but hasn't made it to Putingrad or St. Putinsburg yet... (the recent Ukrainian invasion of Russia, or maybe it should be called a "special military operation" or a “counter-terrorism operation”, which I've read are the local euphemisms for invasion and war)
...but among all of the news from the Kursk and Belgorad regions of the territory internationally recognized as Russia (where there have not been widespread reports in the international news of indiscriminate killing of civilians or mass looting) there was a reminder about a large city in the territory internationally recognized as Ukraine but not under the control of the Ukrainian government in Kyiv that has been suffering the effects of military action for the last ten years or so.

A we reported earlier, at least two people have been killed in an attack targeted a shopping centre in the Russian-controlled city of Donetsk.
At least seven people were wounded in the attack on the Galaxy shopping centre in Petrovsky district, TASS news agency reported, citing operational services.

There's no way to know exactly what happened (and I'm sure if anyone cares to search there will be all the usual claims and counterclaims), but the international media didn't just totally ignore the reports from the local government in Donetsk.

Any mention of missile attacks on shopping centers (which there have been plenty of in Ukraine by the Russian military) would be remiss to not at least mention the missile attack a week ago that killed over a dozen civilians in the Ukrainian city of Kostiantynivka that is near the frontlines in the eastern province (Oblast) of Donetsk but in the territory controlled by the Ukrainian government in Kyiv: https://www.theguardian.com/world/a.....ng-at-least-14 or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWuMji5h1Qo (which did get covered more widely and prominently by western news media).

I initially disabled Comments for a while since these sorts of reminders can draw distracting and conflicting claims and counterclaims. I opened up Comments after a couple of days after there has been more time for additional reporting to appear in reputed media sources. While I don't make a FA Journal for every time a civilian target in the territory internationally recognized as Ukraine gets hit by a missile or artillery, I'm trying to be somewhat fair about mentioning some of the ones that occur in the territory that is currently controlled by the government in Moscow.

More than 30 civilians have been killed and 150 wounded across Ukraine today (July 8) by a massive Russian military missile salvo that included some hypersonic missiles. Ukraine’s largest children’s hospital in Kyiv was hit and one wing/building was heavily damaged during this Russian missile barrage (photos are easy to find online). Russia denies (of course, as always†) intentionally targeting civilians and accuses Ukraine but Ukraine has announced it will be cooperating with an ICC investigation so I'm sure we will eventually see some evidence of whose missile hit the Okhmatdyt Children's Hospital hospital in Kyiv on July 8, 2024. It happened during a massive Russian missile barrage on heavily populated cities that resulted in a lot of civilian deaths and injuries, so I think it is reasonable to say that the children's hospital would not be damaged today if the Russian military had not launched a full-scale surprise invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 and had not launched a swarm of missiles at Ukrainian cities today.

Russia’s Defense Ministry said the strikes targeted Ukrainian defense plants and military air bases and were successful. It denied aiming at any civilian facilities and claimed without evidence that pictures from Kyiv indicated the damage was caused by a Ukrainian air defense missile.
Since early in the war that is well into its third year, Russian officials have regularly claimed that Moscow’s forces never attack civilian infrastructure in Ukraine, despite abundant evidence to the contrary, including Associated Press reporting.
More than 1,600 medical facilities have been damaged since the start of the war and 214 have been ruined completely, according to Ukrainian Health Ministry statistics published last month.

🇸🇪Sweden joins NATO
Posted 9 months agoToday, almost 2 years after applying, 🇸🇪Sweden finally officially joins NATO as the 32nd member of the alliance.
With the NATO takeover of 🇫🇮Finland and 🇸🇪Sweden now complete, that frees up all the tanks and troops that NATO used in their conquest of the Nordic countries to go take over 🇲🇩Moldova and force it to join NATO too... <sigh>
(ok, maybe I'm either being silly or making fun of the Kremlin narrative of NATO taking over countries)

It has now been two years since I woke up on the morning of February 24, 2022 and checked FA before I even looked at the news and saw several Journals by artists in Ukraine saying something like, "OMG we are being bombed!" I've been busy ever since trying to do what I can.

Video of his February 8 appearance was shared by Navalny’s supporters at the time.
"I have a suggestion: to vote for any candidate other than Putin. In order to vote against Putin, you just need to vote for any other candidate," Navalny said.
“I made a list of people I talk to and took upon myself, as my socialist duty, to give this recommendation for each one of them. And that is why I give it to you. And I hope you will follow it.”

Attack on Lysychansk kills ~28 people at bakery
Posted 10 months agoI apologize for all of the Journals about civilian casualty events in the Russia-Ukraine war special military operations (aka war), but since I've already mentioned several I wanted to at least mention the latest report: (at the time I originally created this Journal the reporting on the event was mostly or entirely based on information/statements from Russian sources, since the mostly depopulated city of Lysychansk is currently under Russian control; however more information and details have emerged in the following days)
<I am trying to update this Journal as new information is reported, it is interesting to watch the story evolve over time. Latest update: 06 Feb 2024>
"Russian sources claimed on February 3 that Ukrainian forces conducted a HIMARS strike against a bakery in occupied Lysychansk, Luhansk Oblast." -- from ISW (a one sentence mention in their 3 Feb 2024 report)
"Russia says at least 28 people have been killed after Ukrainian forces shelled a bakery in the city of Lysychansk in the occupied eastern region of Luhansk," -- from Al Jazera (4 Feb 2024)
"Reuters was unable to independently verify the date of the footage or any other details of the report coming out of an area Russia annexed in July 2022 after months of heavy fighting." -- from Reuters (2024-02-03)
"Kyiv has not commented, but Ukrainian military bloggers have since claimed that "collaborators" and Russian officials were in the building at the time... Neither the death toll nor any other claims by either Russia or Ukraine have been verified by the BBC. "A top Russian official was killed in a strike by Ukraine at a bakery in the Russian-occupied city of Lysychansk in Ukraine's Luhansk region, officials announced on Monday. Alexey Poteleshchenko was the Kremlin-installed minister of emergency situations in the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic [LPR] in Ukraine's Donbas region. He died in the attack on Saturday, Russian state-run news agencies RIA Novosti and Tass reported, citing sources. Poteleshchenko's death was later confirmed by the Kremlin-installed head of the self-proclaimed region, Leonid Pasechnik. "He was a courageous man with an iron character and huge fortitude. He defended the Luhansk People's Republic in the ranks of the People's Militia, then worked in the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the LPR," Pasechnik wrote on his Telegram channel on Monday. I think it says something important about international/western media that it was willing to write/publish stories about the attack on the bakery in Lysychansk shortly after it happened based mostly on just the public statements from Russian officials -- the international news does not just ignore things that happen in the "occupied regions of Ukraine" that are still internationally recognized as Ukraine but have been annexed by Russia. For anyone who thinks that Voice Of America (VOA) is just USA propaganda, I suggest comparing their level-headed and non-speculative reporting of the event on 3 Feb 2024 and 5 Feb 2024 with some of the articles in the 'less objective' section below.
I'm going to avoid assigning blame or using words like 'war crime' until there is more information from reliable sources, since Russia conducts a lot of "information operations" and that unfortunately tends to make people suspicious about any reports that come only from Russian sources without independent verification (and Russia isn't especially friendly to independent journalists/reporters). When events like this first appear in the news there are always people who will say things like it was "obviously the other side" or a false flag operation or an errant air defense missile or pictures/video from a different time/place, but it may be a long time before we know what really happened at that bakery (a restaurant named Adriatic) in Lysychansk, if we ever do. However, unless the entire event was faked it does seem likely that over two dozen people in Lysychansk, some of whom were likely bakery/restaurant employees, died as a result of a war (or "special military operation", if you prefer) that has brought suffering and death to tens of thousands of civilians in Ukraine and even some in Russia.

Attack on Donetsk kills 27 people
Posted a year agoI mentioned some of the recent large scale missile/drone attacks on Ukraine and Russia in Journals a few weeks ago so I thought it would be fair to mention today's news of a lot of civilian casualties in the city of Donetsk (internationally recognized as Ukraine, claimed and currently controlled by Russia) where according to the local officials at least 27 people were killed and 25 wounded. I'm not going to comment on the circumstance of the event or who is responsible because that doesn't change the suffering of the civilians in the Donbas region.

Today's news said that Ukraine got to 'celebrate' the New Year with the largest Russian drone attack on Ukraine so far, a record 90 Shahed-type drones (I'm not sure if the 90 was in one day or just since the large-scale Russian missile attack on Ukraine on 30-December-2023). I will try to write a better summary (in a while). Also, according to the Associated Press, "four people were killed and 13 more wounded following Ukrainian shelling on Russian-occupied areas of Donetsk, according to the region’s Kremlin-installed leader, Denis Pushilin. Russian state media reported that a journalist was among the victims, but provided no further details." I hope all the FA members in the territory internationally recognized as Ukraine are all ok and did not lose any family or friends to this latest bombardment.

Russian forces conducted another massive series of drone and missile strikes against deep rear areas in Ukraine between December 31 and January 2, one of which used a strike package similar to that used on December 29, and to which Ukrainian forces appear to be adapting. Ukrainian military officials stated that overnight on December 31 to January 1 Russian forces launched 90 Shahed-136/131 drones from Cape Chauda and Balaklava (occupied Crimea); Kursk Oblast; and Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Krasnodar Krai and that Ukrainian forces shot down 87 of the drones.[8] Ukrainian officials stated that Russian forces also launched four S-300 missiles, three Kh-31P missiles, and one Kh-59 missile from occupied Kherson and Zaporizhia oblasts on January 1. The Ukrainian General Staff reported that later in the afternoon on January 1, Russian forces later launched an additional 10 Shahed drones and one Kh-59 missile, and that Ukrainian forces shot down nine of the drones and the missile.[9] Ukrainian officials stated that the Russian strikes damaged a museum and part of the Lviv National Agrarian University in Lviv City and residential buildings in Odesa City and Esma, Sumy Oblast.[10] The Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) claimed that the Russian strikes on December 31 targeted unspecified Ukrainian airfields, although ISW has not yet been able to confirm strikes against Ukrainian airfield infrastructure.[11] Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed on January 1 that Russian strikes on January 2 would target military infrastructure in Ukraine like the strikes on January 1.[12]
Russian forces then conducted another massive series of missile and drone strikes overnight on January 1-2 and during the day on January 2. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russian forces launched 35 Shahed drones; 10 Kh-47 Kinzhal hypersonic missiles; 70 Kh-101/555/55 missiles; 12 Iskander-M, S-300, and S-400 ballistic missiles; four Kh-31P anti-radar missiles; and three Kalibr missiles at Ukraine on the night of January 1-2 and the morning of January 2 and that Ukrainian forces shot down 59 of the Kh-101/555/55 missiles and all of the drones, Kinzhal missiles, and Kalibr missiles.[13] Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief General Valerii Zaluzhnyi stated on January 2 that Ukrainian forces shot down a record number of 10 Kinzhal hypersonic missiles with Western-provided Patriot systems.[14] Ukrainian officials stated that the Russian strikes caused damage in Kyiv and Kharkiv cities.[15] The Russian MoD claimed that the Russian strikes targeted Ukrainian weapons storage sites and defense industrial base (DIB) enterprises, including those that produce missiles and drones and repair military equipment in Kyiv City and its suburbs, and Zaluzhnyi confirmed that there were hits to civilian, critical, and military infrastructure.[16]

<quick update, 2-January-2024>
It just keeps going... Kyiv and Kharkiv in Ukraine got hit by Russian missile again, reportedly about 100 missiles of various types including 10 of the expensive high-tech hypersonic ones. I read that 5 Ukrainian civilians died and around 100 were wounded:

Today's news said that Ukraine got to 'celebrate' the New Year with the largest Russian drone attack on Ukraine so far, a record 90 Shahed-type drones (I'm not sure if the 90 was in one day or just since the large-scale Russian missile attack on Ukraine on 30-December-2023). I will try to write a better summary (in a while). Also, according to the Associated Press, "four people were killed and 13 more wounded following Ukrainian shelling on Russian-occupied areas of Donetsk, according to the region’s Kremlin-installed leader, Denis Pushilin. Russian state media reported that a journalist was among the victims, but provided no further details." I hope all the FA members in the territory internationally recognized as Ukraine are all ok and did not lose any family or friends to this latest bombardment.

Russian forces conducted another massive series of drone and missile strikes against deep rear areas in Ukraine between December 31 and January 2, one of which used a strike package similar to that used on December 29, and to which Ukrainian forces appear to be adapting. Ukrainian military officials stated that overnight on December 31 to January 1 Russian forces launched 90 Shahed-136/131 drones from Cape Chauda and Balaklava (occupied Crimea); Kursk Oblast; and Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Krasnodar Krai and that Ukrainian forces shot down 87 of the drones.[8] Ukrainian officials stated that Russian forces also launched four S-300 missiles, three Kh-31P missiles, and one Kh-59 missile from occupied Kherson and Zaporizhia oblasts on January 1. The Ukrainian General Staff reported that later in the afternoon on January 1, Russian forces later launched an additional 10 Shahed drones and one Kh-59 missile, and that Ukrainian forces shot down nine of the drones and the missile.[9] Ukrainian officials stated that the Russian strikes damaged a museum and part of the Lviv National Agrarian University in Lviv City and residential buildings in Odesa City and Esma, Sumy Oblast.[10] The Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) claimed that the Russian strikes on December 31 targeted unspecified Ukrainian airfields, although ISW has not yet been able to confirm strikes against Ukrainian airfield infrastructure.[11] Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed on January 1 that Russian strikes on January 2 would target military infrastructure in Ukraine like the strikes on January 1.[12]
Russian forces then conducted another massive series of missile and drone strikes overnight on January 1-2 and during the day on January 2. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russian forces launched 35 Shahed drones; 10 Kh-47 Kinzhal hypersonic missiles; 70 Kh-101/555/55 missiles; 12 Iskander-M, S-300, and S-400 ballistic missiles; four Kh-31P anti-radar missiles; and three Kalibr missiles at Ukraine on the night of January 1-2 and the morning of January 2 and that Ukrainian forces shot down 59 of the Kh-101/555/55 missiles and all of the drones, Kinzhal missiles, and Kalibr missiles.[13] Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief General Valerii Zaluzhnyi stated on January 2 that Ukrainian forces shot down a record number of 10 Kinzhal hypersonic missiles with Western-provided Patriot systems.[14] Ukrainian officials stated that the Russian strikes caused damage in Kyiv and Kharkiv cities.[15] The Russian MoD claimed that the Russian strikes targeted Ukrainian weapons storage sites and defense industrial base (DIB) enterprises, including those that produce missiles and drones and repair military equipment in Kyiv City and its suburbs, and Zaluzhnyi confirmed that there were hits to civilian, critical, and military infrastructure.[16]

It just keeps going... Kyiv and Kharkiv in Ukraine got hit by Russian missile again, reportedly about 100 missiles of various types including 10 of the expensive high-tech hypersonic ones. I read that 5 Ukrainian civilians died and around 100 were wounded:

Large-scale missile attack on Russia
Posted a year agoAfter yesterday's massive missile and drone attack on Ukraine that killed at least 39 civilians and wounded more than 150, the news this morning carried reports of more drone & missile attacks on Ukraine as well as stories about multiple explosions across the Belgorod and Bryansk regions of Russia that border Ukraine which have reportedly killed about a dozen civilians, wounded more than 100, and done damage to things like apartments and automobiles. While there have been civilian deaths inside the territory that is internationally recognized as Russia previously during this "special military operation" (aka war) and I even wrote a Journal about the first civilian death inside of Russia that I read about back on 11 May 2022, the death and destruction inside of (internationally recognized) Russia has tended to be few and far between compared to the scale of civilian deaths and destruction inside of Ukraine, including far far behind the 'front lines'. I hope all the FA members in both Ukraine -and- Russia are all ok today and did not lose any family or friends to this latest bombardment.
Since I made a FA Journal about the explosions and civilian deaths in Ukraine yesterday, I would be remiss to not mention the explosions and deaths in Russia today (Saturday, 30 December 2023), which appears to be the largest amount of civilian casualties inside of Russia in a single day so far (even though they are less than what Ukraine suffered yesterday and a tiny fraction of the total that has been inflicted on Ukrainian civilians and civilian infrastructure in the nearly two years since February 2022).

Large-scale missile attack on Ukraine
Posted a year agoThere was a very large scale Russian military missile attack on Ukraine today (yesterday for some people). Apparently this is the biggest missile bombardment of the war so far; at ~122 missiles (plus more drones) this is bigger than the previous biggest assault in November 2022 when the Russian military launched 96 missiles at Ukraine. I saw the attacks and injury/death toll in the news this morning and it is now up to over 150 civilians injured and at least 31 killed. I hope the FA members in Ukraine are all ok and did not lose any family or friends to this latest bombardment.

Hey all,
I need to restart my life at a new place and I need help.
As some of you might know I am currently living in Ukraine with my grandma and mom. Six year ago my grandmother got a cerebral stroke, after which she became totally different person and needed care. To help my mother, I stayed to provide both caregiving and financial aid, but dealing with someone who only gives negativity and takes more and more of your time and nerves is hard.
And so the stress began to accumulate. At first it wasn’t so bad, but year after year my own health has deteriorated. It began to affect my drawing, and art that I was finish in 1 day started to take 2-3 days. Stress due to my family situation added to fears of the resulting delays in commissions led to 2 surgeries for me in the last 2 years. I’m really grateful that you all supported me during those times and will definitely do my best to fulfill ideas that were entrusted to me.
Then the war started in the 2022, adding oil in the flame. My mother started to have problems with work, leaving me the sole provider for bill, food and other necessities. As of 2 months ago my sister, who had lived separately from us for 14 years and has two kids, one with special needs, sought shelter. I don’t have good relationships with her but as she was without a place to go we took her in. As a result my budget started to fall apart. This, in turn, has wrecked my already struggling budget, as I'm left trying to afford the bills for six people, in a home meant for far less, until my sister was able to find job.
Finally she got a job money, and then it turned out so I suddenly find myself no longer needed and the target of family drama and harassment, on top of being in a crowded, noisy, toxic household. Unfortunately, this is leading to enough stress and household drama that I am unable to sleep. Lack of sleep is leading to my inability to draw. My inability to draw means I can't earn an income. The lack of income leads to stress that prevents me from sleeping, so on. The downward spiral continues and it's not good, to say the least.
My mental state is quite unstable and I am afraid that this current situation could lead to irreversible consequences. It seems like the best way to deal with current situation is to leave this place that I can’t call home anymore.
So, I need to rent a studio apartment to move out and get my life back in line. I need $500-600 USD a month; this would cover all of my bills, rent, food and other necessary spending, plus give me a small buffer. This is something I can accomplish once I get settled.
For me, to be able to move out on my own though, I'm gonna need a chunk of cash up front. My goal is $1,500-1,800 USD. This gives me enough to move out, get a place, and have at least 3 months worth of bills covered. I hate to have to ask for it with nothing really to offer in return, but I'm going to get back to work on drawing and design. This is the point of this life change. Hello. It's been quite a while.
The last half of the year were quite challenging and a lot of negative events happened that took a massive toll on my mental health, to the point where I am currently looking for the therapy. On top of constant stress due to loved ones being in Ukraine (I've emigrated last year just on the day when the war broke), I've been dealing with massive mental problems, that's been boiling in me for years since my grandma's diagnose with cancer and her horrible passing. The chain of tragedies since then mentally broke me apart and I am no longer a person I've used to be 5 years ago. Since Russia invaded Ukraine, I've been separated from my family and haven't seen neither my mom, my other grandma and brother with niece in 1.5 years. If not the kindness and patience of my boyfriend and his wonderful family, it could been a complete ruin.
Then the summer hit, and do it got so much worse. Kachovka's dam cynical explosion absolutely broke my heart apart, and things were not easy since. My brother's apartment suffered via the shockwave, so he had to replace the windows and the doors. Thankfully, his family was away by that time. But this event made my fears feel even so real. And then.. My friend's boyfriend drowned, in a horrible tragic accident, my friend's life completely turned upside down with no bright future whatsoever, and I lost someone i personally knew, met and interacted with. And I was too far to be with my friend in this horrible moment.
Since then, I've had a dark period that I am not proud of and the way I've acted towards the people I love so deeply. I couldn't talk to my closest ones, I've closed up and been simply crying for days. So I had to took myself together. Currently, I'm looking for a manual work to get my head in order and integrate into the absolutely new society for me. It's not smooth and I've been rejected already on my recent interview, and while I wait with anxiety I do my commissions. I'm really sorry they are going so slow - the creativity part of mine got affected the most by all the stress endured during this few months.

Thank you guys for little help with teeth, I'm feeling better now. But doctor said that I need dental braces because crowding of teeth, which I have now after surgery with removing wisdom tooth.
The cheapest braces costs 550-600$, so I need money for it (thanks god, It's not urgent, I'm still have a lot of time before putting braces).
But it's not really matter for me, I need antidepressants for now, because depression killed everything in me, I can't even doing simple tasks, drawing is started to be a very hard challenge, but I'm trying my best.

Heyo and happy holidays! I wanted to start this journal by calculating how much money I have left to pay for my mother’s operation, but the reality is that I am still VERY far from the required amount, and in addition to this operation, I also buy her mandatory medications for ~7 thousand hryvnia (~$186) every month, and even for the second month in a row I can’t pay even a penny for apartment utility bills; by the end of the month I’m simply below low.

At the moment, I myself am below low, seeing how empty my list of drawing debts is, very bad thoughts begin to roll over me, and I once again realize that I have entered into a cycle of work-sleep-work-sleep, which allows me to forget about depression and poverty, and as soon as I miss a day due to poor health, I begin to panic, as if the house of cards from my weekdays begins to tremble and crumble on me. I'm tired of this war and poverty. my asset on all social networks has dropped to 0, I put very small prices for drawings, but they still don't buy them, I'm stuck in artblock and procrastination, and all that makes my mind move is my parents who need help and support for their child. I am so far away from my home, from my loved ones, that it seems as if I am left alone on this planet. my family is torn apart all over the planet. I see my parents only in a paper photo that stands next to my monitor. I want to be happy so much, despite my psychological traumas, panic attacks and anxiety that I experience in dreams where I dream that I am in the epicenter of war, people are screaming, and bomb explosions and the whistle of rockets are heard everywhere. there are a lot of dead homeless animals, abandoned children, poverty and devastation. that's what my homeland has become over so many years of war. I want everyone to hear about how terrible any wars between people are. I just hope that one day I will return to my native home in Ukraine, and my parents will be so close that I will even be able to hug and comfort them. Why do I need all this? for what all this is to all of us. I am still in Crimea, where, despite my bitter fate, I continue to help homeless animals and wild dolphins of the Black Sea free of charge. One day I will get out of this hell. soon the autumn depression will begin caused by exacerbations of my mental illness. I'm not sure that anyone will read this magazine, I just want to speak out, it's like my personal diary, which can be read by anyone who cares about how the fate of an ordinary refugee from Ukraine develops. It's been almost a year since my native street was shelled and destroyed, and my grandfather's grave, which no one visits, has been overgrown for a whole year. I have several diagnoses, but the most severe and incurable of them are post-traumatic stress disorder and borderline personality disorder. it's not curable, and I have to take a bunch of pills so that I can exist, and so that I have the strength to write such messages without shedding a bunch of tears. I wish everyone peace, and that the war ends. that's it.

I need to restart my life at a new place and I need help.
As some of you might know I am currently living in Ukraine with my grandma and mom. Six year ago my grandmother got a cerebral stroke, after which she became totally different person and needed care. To help my mother, I stayed to provide both caregiving and financial aid, but dealing with someone who only gives negativity and takes more and more of your time and nerves is hard.
And so the stress began to accumulate. At first it wasn’t so bad, but year after year my own health has deteriorated. It began to affect my drawing, and art that I was finish in 1 day started to take 2-3 days. Stress due to my family situation added to fears of the resulting delays in commissions led to 2 surgeries for me in the last 2 years. I’m really grateful that you all supported me during those times and will definitely do my best to fulfill ideas that were entrusted to me.
Then the war started in the 2022, adding oil in the flame. My mother started to have problems with work, leaving me the sole provider for bill, food and other necessities. As of 2 months ago my sister, who had lived separately from us for 14 years and has two kids, one with special needs, sought shelter. I don’t have good relationships with her but as she was without a place to go we took her in. As a result my budget started to fall apart. This, in turn, has wrecked my already struggling budget, as I'm left trying to afford the bills for six people, in a home meant for far less, until my sister was able to find job.
Finally she got a job money, and then it turned out so I suddenly find myself no longer needed and the target of family drama and harassment, on top of being in a crowded, noisy, toxic household. Unfortunately, this is leading to enough stress and household drama that I am unable to sleep. Lack of sleep is leading to my inability to draw. My inability to draw means I can't earn an income. The lack of income leads to stress that prevents me from sleeping, so on. The downward spiral continues and it's not good, to say the least.
My mental state is quite unstable and I am afraid that this current situation could lead to irreversible consequences. It seems like the best way to deal with current situation is to leave this place that I can’t call home anymore.
So, I need to rent a studio apartment to move out and get my life back in line. I need $500-600 USD a month; this would cover all of my bills, rent, food and other necessary spending, plus give me a small buffer. This is something I can accomplish once I get settled.
For me, to be able to move out on my own though, I'm gonna need a chunk of cash up front. My goal is $1,500-1,800 USD. This gives me enough to move out, get a place, and have at least 3 months worth of bills covered. I hate to have to ask for it with nothing really to offer in return, but I'm going to get back to work on drawing and design. This is the point of this life change. So I can only offer detailed commission slots in advance and try to reach my goal with as fast and with as few orders as it possible. Hello. It's been quite a while.
The last half of the year were quite challenging and a lot of negative events happened that took a massive toll on my mental health, to the point where I am currently looking for the therapy. On top of constant stress due to loved ones being in Ukraine (I've emigrated last year just on the day when the war broke), I've been dealing with massive mental problems, that's been boiling in me for years since my grandma's diagnose with cancer and her horrible passing. The chain of tragedies since then mentally broke me apart and I am no longer a person I've used to be 5 years ago. Since Russia invaded Ukraine, I've been separated from my family and haven't seen neither my mom, my other grandma and brother with niece in 1.5 years. If not the kindness and patience of my boyfriend and his wonderful family, it could been a complete ruin.
Then the summer hit, and do it got so much worse. Kachovka's dam cynical explosion absolutely broke my heart apart, and things were not easy since. My brother's apartment suffered via the shockwave, so he had to replace the windows and the doors. Thankfully, his family was away by that time. But this event made my fears feel even so real. And then.. My friend's boyfriend drowned, in a horrible tragic accident, my friend's life completely turned upside down with no bright future whatsoever, and I lost someone i personally knew, met and interacted with. And I was too far to be with my friend in this horrible moment.
Since then, I've had a dark period that I am not proud of and the way I've acted towards the people I love so deeply. I couldn't talk to my closest ones, I've closed up and been simply crying for days. So I had to took myself together. Currently, I'm looking for a manual work to get my head in order and integrate into the absolutely new society for me. It's not smooth and I've been rejected already on my recent interview, and while I wait with anxiety I do my commissions. I'm really sorry they are going so slow - the creativity part of mine got affected the most by all the stress endured during this few months.

Thank you guys for little help with teeth, I'm feeling better now. But doctor said that I need dental braces because crowding of teeth, which I have now after surgery with removing wisdom tooth.
The cheapest braces costs 550-600$, so I need money for it (thanks god, It's not urgent, I'm still have a lot of time before putting braces).
But it's not really matter for me, I need antidepressants for now, because depression killed everything in me, I can't even doing simple tasks, drawing is started to be a very hard challenge, but I'm trying my best.

In the frontline city where I am located, there is active fighting, constant shelling and destruction.
In such conditions, there is practically no work in the city and my psyche is in constant stress.
I want to go to Europe and I need to have some money for that.
I also need information on how to leave the country.
Since my city is under the control of the Russian Federation, I will have to leave through this country.
I am a trans person. But according to my passport I am a man of draft age and exit from the country for me is limited.
If anyone has information about how I can leave the Russian Federation and seek asylum in the United Kingdom, I would be very grateful.

Hi'ya folks, how it's been?
I've been doing well enough lately, that's what I thought. It seemed like I had solved all the little troubles recently, had almost finished all the pictures from the art queue, as well as some of mine, even had some volunteer work irl for a while. But suddenly life decided to be unkind again.
Straight to the point: my family is in trouble, and by the end of the month we need a huge pile of money so that things don't get much worse. They will do what they can, but I have to do something too, because otherwise the consequences will be bad for me as well. From my part I must contribute approximately at least 800 eur, and do that before the end of this month (the end of October 2023, that is). Of course, I was not ready for anything like this at all, so I sincerely ask for your help - anyone who can order some commissions and do this during this month!
Regarding my part, I'll try my best to finish all the art you order during this month by the end of this year, perhaps even until the end of autumn. And I'm especially open to Halloween-themed pictures right now!

Heyo and happy holidays! I wanted to start this journal by calculating how much money I have left to pay for my mother’s operation, but the reality is that I am still VERY far from the required amount, and in addition to this operation, I also buy her mandatory medications for ~7 thousand hryvnia (~$186) every month, and even for the second month in a row I can’t pay even a penny for apartment utility bills; by the end of the month I’m simply below low.
But the good news is that I have already drawn all the purchased YCHs slots, trying and working/drawing a lot! (there is only one comm and an order from Patreon left in my to-do)

At the moment, I myself am below low, seeing how empty my list of drawing debts is, very bad thoughts begin to roll over me, and I once again realize that I have entered into a cycle of work-sleep-work-sleep, which allows me to forget about depression and poverty, and as soon as I miss a day due to poor health, I begin to panic, as if the house of cards from my weekdays begins to tremble and crumble on me. -- 'Signal boost' this Journal or write your own version of it (you may use anything from this one); Write a Journal with your own personal experiences (there are people who can help with English and editing); Draw art about your town/city/region; Contact other people on the list; Watch them; Give them 'emotional support' (nice comments) & 'signal boosts' when they need help; Look for people from your area that 'go dark' (stop posting art/Journals and no new 'favorites') and check on them; Organize; If you've fled somewhere safer then provide support to the people who remained in the area; Promoting ('signal boosting') the needs of others from your region helps remind people of your own suffering and needs; Give the situation publicity, do not be silent; Draw an artwork about your region/town/city; See this regarding psychological help; See my 'mental health' Journal; See Links of interest to Ukrainians, & any who wish to help.
2) for Ukrainians 🇺🇦
-- See the 'locals' suggestions above; If you are from a safer region of Ukraine (e.g. central or western) then PLEASE HELP those artists/furries from the regions that are under attack, are near the 'front lines' or are destroyed/occupied (I have noticed some people from Kharkiv/Donbass/southern Ukraine feel forgotten or abandoned), even if all you can do is offer nice comments and 'signal boosts' or draw 'gift art'; Occasionally search to see if new Ukrainian artists are posting on FA; Direct new Ukrainian artists/furries to the appropriate support Journals where they can get attention/assistance/help (one example is the big support Journal); Look for friends & allies (wherever you can find them) and be sure to thank them; Avoid blaming large groups or whole countries, hold individual people accountable for their own actions or inaction; Read The Art of War (a roughly 5th century BC strategy book by Sun Tzu), it is still relevant (even if you are not a soldier); Draw patriotic or peace-themed artwork.

This wasn't one of the big headline-making Russian missile attacks on Ukraine that kill a dozen civilians and injure dozens more, but it did appear in the news when I searched for it, and over 24 hours later it was becoming easier to find the Chernihiv missile strike mentioned -- Ukraine's President Zelensky even mentioned the deaths of two women in a Russian missile attack on Chernihiv in his 21-July-2023 video address. I thought that if anyone was skeptical it would be good to include the news reporting of the event (see below). For each of the headline making events like a missile hitting a shopping center or apartment building or busy cafe, there are probably dozens of these 'everyday' events where only one or two people are injured or killed that barely get mentioned in the news. There are just under a million people in Chernihiv Oblast, Ukraine, and only two casualties seems 'small', however in this case one of the two victims turned out to be the mother of a FA member (and an artist that I support on Patreon). Sometimes the world is a small place.
