So, couple of big things!

First, Nanuk, moonunit, and I are at MFF in Chicago this weekend! We're staying in the Crowne Plaza, across the street from the con, and will be hosting a couple of cuddle parties (including a naughty bachelor room party because of big thing #2). Second, Nanuk and I are officially getting married on December 5th! We've been engaged for a while, and we wanted to finally get the official business out of the way, so we have an appointment with the county clerk's office on the 5th to complete the process marriage process. As for wedding ceremonies, we want to hold one at FC this coming January, and then hold a family ceremony later next year with more planning.

Bit of an odd night right now! My little brother decided to visit and Nanuk went out to a furry meet, so I'm gonna postpone the stream that was scheduled tonight for tomorrow night. See you guys then!

It's amazing how quick the users of this site can be stirred into a panic as fear-mongering assumptions and rumors about the future of FA are passed around faster than con-crud at Further Confusion.

I'm not going to pretend that I'm not a little concerned about how filled with ads FA is going to become or if IMVU is going to push for the inclusion of a "Premium" member system. However, you all need to stop worrying so early about what IMVU is going to do with our content. Despite their censorship in their own 3D chatroom product, I doubt they'd be so stupid that they would impose censors here. Considering the fact that the majority of the most-viewed work on this site is pornographic in nature, furries would leave FA behind as a ghost-town if IMVU restricted adult content. That would lead to the end of FA and, as such, be a waste of money for IMVU (seeing how they just bought it). No, what they're going to do is keep the content untouched and focus on monetizing as much of the site as they can to take advantage of the volume of visitors the site gets every day. Basically, this site is going to start looking more like deviantART, with ads and premium features.

Is that good? Is that bad? I dunno. We'll just have to wait and see. On one hand, deviantART has done pretty well for itself with these kinds of monetization tactics. On the other hand, IMVU has pretty much no experience in hosting user-created content. I'm going to stay positive and wait for the changes to roll out before I make any big decision about my presence on FA, but just in case, I will be redoubling my efforts to post equally between FurAffinity and Weasyl (unlike right now, where I pretty much ignore Weasyl most of the time).


For those of you who may be thinking about jumping ship to Weasyl out of precaution or paranoia, here's a useful, step-by-step guide to help:

GUIDE TO SURVIVING THE IMVU-POCALYPSE

STEP 1.) Calm yo titties. Research this purchase of FA on your own, don't listen to the fear-mongering being spread around right now.

STEP 2.) Decide, after giving yourself some time to rationally think it over, whether it is still in your best interest to abandon FA in favor of Weasyl (the next-best-thing to FA).

Sorry that I've been so quiet lately, everyone! Dealing with finals week for my summer class, and since it's a compacted schedule, my professor threw a lot of shit at us this week. My Crotch Commission Streams will resume on Tuesday night next week after my final exam that day, starting with a pic for Ez. See you then!

Sorry my streams have been on pause, everyone! This week proved a little more challenging in my class than I anticipated. I will be continuing my streaming on Monday, after I turn in an essay I've been working on. Luckily, everyone at AC should also be back by then. Anyway, hope to see you all on Monday!

Just a heads up to my usual stream viewers: my Crotch Commission stream tonight (6/25) is likely to be postponed for later in the evening or tomorrow afternoon. A lot of stuff came down on myself and Nanuk, from work to be done for a website I'm working on, to a ton of classwork for me. Nanuk also had his fair share of frustration at work today and didn't make it home until just now. Because of this, our plan to build a TV stand together with the new router and modem we ordered has been moved to now, as we want them in as soon as possible. We also have yet to have any dinner, so we're going to go do that right now.

If I do stream tonight, it will be late (around midnight) and by myself, as Filut has work in the mornings and I'd rather he get some sleep while I do the lineart so he can color them tomorrow afternoon. Anyway, I'll post the verdict later tonight on Twitter. I will definitely be streaming tomorrow, though.

As I write and post this to all of you, my friends and watchers, I'm zooming north along the 5 freeway about 70 miles per hour. Connected to the free wifi graciously provided by the folks at BoltBus, Surrounded by other passengers sitting in the comfortable, black leather bus seats, I'm chatting with friends on Skype and getting some C programming work done as I wait out the remainder of our 6 hour drive from Los Angeles to San Jose, where I'll be met with the gleeful face of my boyfriend, nanuk, and his adorable, little puppy, Zosha.

Hey everyone~!

Sorry I've been so absent these past few weeks. My three classes made the both annoying and somewhat generous choice of making their midterm exams each on a separate week. While it means I've had more time to study for each, it also means I've been pretty much studying all the time these past three weeks. As such, I gotta apologize to all my friends I've been unable to chat with freely lately. Hopefully, when my last exam is over this Tuesday, I'll have time to keep working on some art alongside my classwork.

In other news, it's only now hitting me that this Wednesday, November 6th, is my 24th birthday. Fuck everything, that's a big number. :C

So, going on the research gleaned from the last journal I posted here, nanuk and I have decided to work together to bring the furry community a web-app that will act as a commission/art transaction service. Basically, a website that helps both artists and art buyers find, buy, sell, auction and trade art and art-related services (like art-slaving and such).

Commissions always seem like a pain, people having to fumble around and manage pricing, slots, payments, queues, etc. It's all been very manual in nature, up until now. While there's nothing inherently WRONG with manually dealing with commissions, it isn't very smooth, reliable or efficient. What if an artist could have invoice ready thanks to preset templates? What if a buyer could search through artists based on filters like current prices, current slots open, etc? There are so many ways Nanuk and I knew we could improve the way furries buy and sell commissions, so we decided to make a change.

So how about a commission management system? Something that handles the hard, tedious tasks of commission management for both the artist and the buyer. Something that looks and feels nice, and just flows. Best of all: it's oriented toward the furry community and its interests. This is our concept, and something web both think will be fun to bring to light.

So I have two questions:

What would you like to see in a commission management system, from the perspective of both an artist and a client?

Our current working name is "CommissionFur", but we're also considering "CommissionShark", as I thought having a shark for a mascot would be cool. What do you think of that names? Good? Bad? Suggestions?
