Moving forward!
Posted 12 years agoI'm in a surreal state right now haha. Did the last few days just happen?
I recently poked through my old writing, and I keep coming back to this little nugget, until I noticed that it had over a hundred views. Now, for some of you artists, that number ain't such a big deal considering a decent drawing gets at least that many views in a few days. But for me, as an author? I was doing backflips lmao. As it stands, Pick A Fight, my youngest story on FA has more views than any other story I've written, apart from Black Sunshine if you add each part's collective views together, but still!
I've gotten new watchers and favs seemingly out of nowhere and that's never happened to me ahahaha. For all you new guys, welcome aboard, and I hope you enjoy what's to come! I've got two or three weeks of classes left until winter break, and I'm wicked excited to get some writing in and do a few streams! :D Hopefully I'll have a whole new story to put up here before school starts up again!

Summer, Identity and Life So Far
Posted 12 years agoSchool starts again tomorrow, boys and girls. And with these last few hours of freedom, I like to reminisce about the good times. And to that end, all I have to say is man, this summer's been a real let-down haha. Two weeks in, I decided that this was gonna a fucking awesome time, I got together with my bffl and we made plans for twoooo months, which included but were not limited to: camping, movies, drive-ins, road trips, bon fires and general adventures.
Know how much of that happened?
NONE.
Kid bailed on me EVERY SINGLE TIME. Dickhead >:U
But, besides that, a TON about me has changed. First and foremost, I've lost about 20 pounds. And if that's never happened to you before, lemme tell you - it's fucking fantastic. Around September I started reading Men's Health and at the time I was average between 185 to 190 pounds. At 5'7", that's not really a healthy weight, and with my parents being obese and my little brother on the way, I said FUCK THAT and started hitting the gym three days a week. After some fiddling around with different routines, I'm now averaging 170 pounds. Still got 20 more to go and I'mmm lookin' forward to it! :D All my old clothes feel so different~
What elsssse. I've been writing a ton more, as some of you have noticed. I actually put out a story that you can read here, which only happens once in a blue moon by itself hahaha. Not my best, could be my worst according to some, but it just feels good to write some new material for a change instead of just...wishing it would happen. And I mostly owe it to a friend of mine who showed me how to use Google Docs and the people that showed up frequently to watch me flail my way through the paragraphs. I owe it to

and my own editor 
for showing up once in a while to help out. It was a lot of fun and I can't wait to do it again whenever I have some free time!
Having said that about my writing, HOLY CRAP I BROKE 17k! :D Gotta thank the new guys watching me! I promise I don't do this life update journal a lot haha.
Speaking of more updates (and getting a little more personal here), I've been kinda struggling lately with my identity, both here and in real life. When I joined the fandom like...seven years ago when I was 13-14, I was a nerdy little kid who wanted to grow up to be a tall, buff, handsome dude that got all the ladies.
Did that happen? Nope lmfao. But I made myself a character that represented that desire to be attractive and well-liked, and I named him Apollo. Time went on, I grew up, and no matter how hard I tried, real me could never be like Apollo, because he's a tall, blonde-haired, blue-eyed handsome skater punky dude. In reality, I'm a short, broad, mildly pudgy guy that's slowly losing his pudge. I have brown hair and brown eyes, and I dress like something between a hipster and a comic book nerd that doesn't actually read comic books. If you compare any picture of me (check my scraps!) to any picture of Apollo, you may more may not notice a mild disconnect between appearances.
Some of you might be saying "So what? You don't look like a walking talking dog man whats the deal yo." That's true, but, being one thing in real life and acting like I'm something else on the internet is just...it goes against who I am, which is an honest, real person.
SO, to fix this, I'm making a new character. Some of you may know my pen name, Jack Blue, and I've decided to put a physical character to that name now. What he looks like, I'm still thinking on :B But ya'll will see him some day when I can get the money together to commission a picture of him. The goal is to make him more like me, buuut we'll see how that goes.
This does not mean that Apollo's going away! I've vested too much into his story to just let him fade away, and now that he's not "me", his story might even get better! WHO KNOWS. I still have to write it lmfao.
So yeah. Now I go by Apollo or Jack, just like always. Jack's a main character, Apollo's an alt I use.

I did very poorly my first semester last year, and I'm going to have to repeat some of those classes this year, so I've got something to prove haha. The Olympics
Posted 12 years agoWell guys, the closing ceremony is tonight and I gotta say, after almost completely zoning out in the Beijing Games, the London Games have really inspired me, and it feels reeeeal good to see the United States sitting on top of the medal count, both in golds and overall (WHAT'S THAT ABOUT AMERICANS BEING FAT AND LAZY? SUCK IT COMMUNISTS), it just makes me so proud :3 104 medals, 46 gold. So much goooold <3 Gold is my new favorite word.
But man, what a ground-breaking set of games. Michael Phelps, now the most decorated Olympian in history. David Boudia stealing the gold from China. Bryshon Nellus, randomly shot in both legs, told he would never run again, comes back to win silver. Oscar Pistorias, a double amputee running in these games, that's my second favorite thing about these games. My FAVORITE thing, however, is all of the women that came to these games - for the first time in American Olympic history, there were more ladies than dudes, and more ladies won gold than dudes! (NO MORE EW BOOBS AND VAGINA JOKES ANYMORE FURRIES. CUT THAT SHIT OUT.)
It's also good to see that Great Britain made it into third place on the medal count! I found myself cheering for Mo Farah and Tom Daley whenever I could. It was also cool to get a much broader taste of British culture with the opening and closing ceremony, the opening one compleeetely blew China's out of the water in my opinion. Heart > Power.
So proud of our USA athletes right now <3 And once again, I find myself inspired to purse my own goals in fitness and health. Time to finish off the closing ceremony! Truly an amazing Olympics, I can't wait for Rio in 2016!

Being humble (The Colorado shootings)
Posted 12 years agoI went to the midnight premiere of The Dark Knight Rises like a lot of other people last night. I was pretty excited to see it, right up to the point when the movie glitched and sent us back an hour into the flick haha. The manager said he was sorry and that we'd just have to sit through it again. We get to the same scene, and it happened again. I wasn't even mad because I'd made friends with some strangers I sat next to in that theater. Most people left at that point. Then someone pulled the fire alarm, ruining the end for everyone else in the other theaters.
Naturally, there were some absolutely furious people DEMAAAANDING this and that and free tickets. Personally, I wasn't angry. I rarely get angry, like /truly/ angry. I knew there was going to be another hundred opportunities to see it again. I got my refund in the form of a free movie pass and went home and slept like a baby from a long day.
And then I wake up to hear about the Aurora shooting. What kinda of person do you have to be to open fire on a room full of helpless people, killing 12 and injuring another 50, including a 4-month-old infant?
So glad the fucking coward was caught before he could do himself in. It's going to be good to see justice served for once. And I hope the people that freaked out at my theater last night appreciate that something like this didn't happen to them and that they think twice before flying off the handle over something as common as a movie.

Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut DLC - Videos Discussion
Posted 12 years agoAlright, if you hold a controller or had an ear to the internet around March, you might have heard about the MUTINOUS UPROAR over ME3's original endings that was given to the fans.
Personally I felt no tragedy in the original endings (I thought it was kinda lackluster but I wasn't ROILING WITH INDIGNANT FURY about it. I found closure :P), so these endings are kind of like extra icing on the cake for me.
Mass Effect 3 was a fucking stellar game. The best science fiction game on the market. The way the story and the sense of dread and helplessness kept building and building and building as you delved further into a wiiild rollercoaster of action, guns, aliens, emotions and cliffhangers is something I have never experience before on an interactive level. I walked away from the ending feeling mostly content.
And then I heard about the huge stink over the endings. At first, I felt like I was watching a spoiled child SCREEAAAAMING at his parents because he got french fries and not french fries with ketchup. I wanted to slap them all. QUIT BITCHIN' YOU LITTLE SHIT.
Buuut, then I considered all the time and energy I'd put into the series as well as the connection I felt with my Shepard. You really, /really/, felt like Shepard. It was /you/ saving all those civilzations and endings conflicts and other Paragon options I can't conjure up at the moment. And I became understanding.
However...to go back and change your work? It's virtually unheard of in the movie and video game industry. Never has it happened before. It just goes to show how UNBELIEVABELY dedicated Bioware is to its fanbase and how FUCKING STUPID EA IS. I really hope EA went up to Bioware and said uhhh yeah, we kinda messed up and we don't know to fix this. Help us please? :D

Anyway. I went on my xbox and I waited OVER AN HOUR to download almost two gigs, TWO GIGS of data lmfao. That's single-handedly the largest DLC download I've ever accepted. I just loaded the game from just before you jump into the beam and apparently I missed some stuff beforehand, and if you play the game over from before you attack Chrono base, you get EVERYTHING that's been changed. I've yet to do that but meh.
ANYWAY. The four different endings! I can't find the videos indivdually on youtube quite yet so here's a link to IGN. The other three endings are in the scroll bar to the right.

Synthesis
I liked that the geth and quarians got to live together on Rann, and that you saw a quarian's face, a REAL face! Also, EDI's newfound emotions touched me, but overall with her dialoguing the whole thing, it felt like the entire series was about her :v Also, everyone glowed. Not really cool.
Control
I really loved this ending and it is my favorite by far. Shepard is immortalized as the guardian of the Milky Way and he can finally save them all (think back to the very beginning of the game, when he was talking with Anderson. The Paragon conversation path lead Shepard to say "...no matter how hard you try, you just can't save them all." It brought a touch of tragedy though, because Shepard wasn't really...himself, y'know? I still think it's fucking badass though. Was sorta...Doctor Who-esque. I liked that :3
Destroy
This one was okay. Definitely for the rednecks who wanted TO KICK SOME REAPER ASS. FUCK YEAHHHHH. PLANET EARTH, MOTHERFUCKER, YOU DON'T TREAD ON US.
Refuse
This felt like Bioware saying a big FUCK YOU to either EA or the fans. FUCK YOU to EA for rushing the ending, orrr FUCK YOU to the fans for making them go back and redo something they thought was put to bed. It's kind of haunting, but at the same time, extremely realistic given the impossible odds of the fight at hand.
Angry Joe does a great job of summing up the changes, and provides some other insights I've probably glazed over.

Anyway. I went on my xbox and I waited OVER AN HOUR to download almost two gigs, TWO GIGS of data lmfao. That's single-handedly the largest DLC download I've ever accepted. I just loaded the game from just before you jump into the beam and apparently I missed some stuff beforehand, and if you play the game over from before you attack Chrono base, you get EVERYTHING that's been changed. I've yet to do that but meh.
ANYWAY. The four different endings! I can't find the videos indivdually on youtube quite yet so here's a link to IGN. The other three endings are in the scroll bar to the right.

Synthesis
I liked that the geth and quarians got to live together on Rann, and that you saw a quarian's face, a REAL face! Also, EDI's newfound emotions touched me, but overall with her dialoguing the whole thing, it felt like the entire series was about her :v Also, everyone glowed. Not really cool.
Control
I really loved this ending and it is my favorite by far. Shepard is immortalized as the guardian of the Milky Way and he can finally save them all (think back to the very beginning of the game, when he was talking with Anderson. The Paragon conversation path lead Shepard to say "...no matter how hard you try, you just can't save them all." It brought a touch of tragedy though, because Shepard wasn't really...himself, y'know? I still think it's fucking badass though. Was sorta...Doctor Who-esque. I liked that :3
Destroy
This one was okay. Definitely for the rednecks who wanted TO KICK SOME REAPER ASS. FUCK YEAHHHHH. PLANET EARTH, MOTHERFUCKER, YOU DON'T TREAD ON US.
Refuse
This felt like Bioware saying a big FUCK YOU to either EA or the fans. FUCK YOU to EA for rushing the ending, orrr FUCK YOU to the fans for making them go back and redo something they thought was put to bed. It's kind of haunting, but at the same time, extremely realistic given the impossible odds of the fight at hand.
Angry Joe does a great job of summing up the changes, and provides some other insights I've probably glazed over.

I haven't really fleshed out a COMPLETE story, all I know is I'm writing a story about an earthbender that wakes up in the morning! GONNA SOC* THIS SHIT. YEAHHH.

Posted 12 years agoI got fed up waiting for my cat to come home, so my mom made some flyers the other night and today I handed them out to a large part of my neighborhood. Went door-to-door for this shit, you'd better believe I'm trying to find her >:U
It would've been really painful and awkward for me to do it all by myself, so I posted on Facebook asking if anyone wanted to come along and lo and behold, an oooold friend of mine that disappeared off the face of the Earth popped up out of nowhere and said he and his girlfriend would help me out! It turned a gloomy journey into a small adventure and that's all it took to keep it from being depressing.
I love my friends <3
So most of the neighborhood's on watch, tomorrow me and old buddies are going to the humane society to possibly look for her there. Keeping my hopes up <3
