Our landlord forced us to renew our lease today, when it wasn't up until October 31st. We are dealing with a landlord who, for 7 years, has done MINIMAL maintenance on this apartment. We have floor panels coming up, shorts in certain wall sockets that they refuse to fix, black mold, and water damage caused by one of HIS own maintenance guys, because he turned on a dishwasher upstairs, and then WENT ON LUNCH, with it still on. Due to some issues with it, it burst, and water suddenly was pouring from the ceiling above our sink, and we watched lines of water form on our ceiling from the dining room, to the living room, and a bit to the bathroom. My partner's mom is on oxygen, and can't really do a whole lot. She's been trying to bring it to his attention, and he ignores it. Now, with the new lease he gave us, he put it in there that the damages and issues are now "No longer his problem, it's our responsibility to pay for the damages and repairs"
And before you suggest talking to a lawyer, we can't. Three tenants before us tried. They were served 3 day evictions, and then on the 3rd day, cops were there, and they were forced out. So, right now, our goal is to GTFO, and get settled, then we will worry about going back at him. We are trying our best, and me and my partner both have jobs. We just need help.
I will be doing any commissions, of all sorts, to assist in helping us move. But, anything helps.
