Quick Anime Review - "Problem Children"
It's been a while since I posted anything in my journals, I'm going to experiment a little with short reviews of games or anime that I watch and want to recommend to others.
Also known as "Mondaiji-tachi ga Isekai kara Kuru Sou Desu yo?"
Summary:
Izayoi Sakamaki, Asuka Kudou, and You Kasugabe have tremendous psychic powers and are bored with the regular world. An envelope arrives for each person, and when each opens their envelope, they are stunned to see the scenery around them change to a world they had never encountered before. They've been summoned by the Black Rabbit to help the community "No Name" to overthrow the Devil King.
What makes it worth watching:
The characters!
The three main characters are surprisingly intelligent, they quickly learn how to work together, they form good plans and show that they can overcome problems with a good mix of their unique powers but also their heads.
At first glance Izaya appears to be a typical shonen protagonist, strong, stubborn and always looking for a fight. But he also shows a desire to learn about many things and while he is super strong, he doesn't let his power cloud his judgement, some of the best plans the characters do come from Izaya.
Asuka has a power similar to Lelouch from Code Geass, that is she can give people orders that they can not resist. Sufficient willpower can allow a person to resist or ignore her orders though. The twist is that she hates her power because she doesn't like to manipulate people and throughout the series she tries to change her power.
You Kasugabe's power is to borrow and enhance abilities from animals she befriends, copying a cat gives her super dexterity and reflexes for example. She can also communicate with animals. Her reason for going to Little Garden is to make new friends. A lot of her character development centers around her insecurity and feeling of being the weakest of the group.
The show contains a mix of comedy and action. There's a bit of fanservice but all of it mostly focuses on Black Rabbit, because of the outfit she wears normally.

The setting:
Little Garden, the world the 3 main characters are brought to is a place where myths, legends, stories and history intertwine, it's filled with gods, demigods, legendary heroes, ancient artifacts and so on.
The rule in Little Garden is that you can host a game, with specific rules. Those who join a game can use their money, land, artifacts or even their own powers as betting chips.
While it is called "Little" Garden, it is certainly anything but that, the surface of the world is comparable to that of a star, no wonder since its filled with almost every myth and story ever.
Throughout the series we only see a few stories, the greek myth of Perseus and various artifacts from it, a gryphon, the story of the Piper of Hamelin and a few others.
Hopefully a second season will come soon with more stuff, thanks to the setting of the world there's infinite possibilities.
I definitely recommend this show to anyone who likes a well written anime with good fight scenes, fun characters and a unique setting.
