Quick addition to this: If you want to keep posting on FA while still switching your central hub to a different site, Postybirb might be helpful to you - it's a great tool for posting to multiple furry sites at once ^^

To be honest, for me FA has become seriously stagnant for increasing my following. I don't post much here anymore because I just don't see growth. Might not be a problem for others though :)
The new rules do seem like they're over compensating...
I do mostly post on the Evil Bird App - I find that engagement there is better with my following, but it depends what you're looking for I guess? Main problem with that hell scape is I'm just watching for the day I get cancelled for something innocuous haha

I cant recommend Inkbunny enough, heck even Sofurry is fantastic and run by the coolest Orca owner.
