  • Equestria Girls Dance Magic Music Video Follow Up

I said I would do its own follow up for it and I did. The music video is pretty much part of the special for Dance Magic, but there’s a few good things to touch on with it. Is it still a generic pop dance song? Yes. Are the lyrics pretty basic that anyone could’ve written? Probably. Is it still worth mentioning? Absolutely. Even as a generic song, it’s a fun generic song. For some reason I say that a lot about EqG music in general. Not all of them are a Past is Not Today or Help Twilight Win the Crown with either character development or being a catchy ear worm. But I give credit that even for generic, it’s simply a fun dance song with a fun music video to it. The moral is pretty much in the lyrics themselves. Get into the groove no matter what it is? Either that or tell someone to bring back disco. Those were fun times.

  • Equestria Girls Perfect Day for Fun Follow Up

It times like this that my ideals on music kind of go out the window. I’m fully aware of what makes an ear worm and this was probably one of the biggest ear worms since “Helping Twilight Win The Crown” in the very first movie. This time it’s a music video from the time of Rainbow Rocks. Continuity wise, I have no idea when this takes place in terms of the movie and the other shorts for Rainbow Rocks. It’s obviously after everyone magically got their instruments and realized “hey I grow pony parts when I play music”. But most likely after Twilight was able to use Celestia’s book to get back to the human world…for a fair. If I were to give this short a moral, it would be there’s no harm in having a good day with friends. You don’t always need a reason to hang out, but it’s fun to do so. Either that or actually type where you are instead of using emojis to describe your locations. Anyway, getting too long winded for a generic pop song so let’s take a look at it.

  • Equestria Girls Accountibilibuddies Follow Up

In any music festival, there’s always the chance of disaster striking when you least expect it. It could be a wardrobe malfunction, losing an important item, or in this case, getting you foot stomped out at a hoedown. But when disaster strikes, you can always count on your friends to at least stick with you and not abandon you when there’s a performer you want to see. I guess I can say that would be the moral of this short. Either that or make sure there’s a pillow or blanket in the wheelbarrow if you need to move your hurt friend anywhere. Those things can be uncomfortable. Let’s see how Applejack does with an injury when trying to see her favorite country idol.

  • Equestria Girls Lost and Pound Follow Up

It’s that time again where a battle of the odds happens in the comments over best ending. Actually I don’t think that ever happens. You guys are just too awesome for that. But we still get an interesting set up for a little lost puppy and what’s best to do for her. There are laughs, heartbreak, and mud. Lots and lots of mud. If I were to give this short a moral, it would be to be kind to all animals when in need. Either that or make sure you have a friend who can talk to animals on standby. Let’s get this puppy rollin’. (I’m sorry)

  • Equestria Girls Pet Project Follow Up

If there can be one constant in your life that you know will cheer you up and be there for you when the times get tough, it’s a little animal who sleeps in your bed and can possibly scare your neighbors. As Lyra has said before, there is nothing like a best friend and here, that includes pets. All the Mane 6 have a pet in their lives from the sensible Tank the tortoise to the high maintenance Opal the cat. But in the Humane 7, we have one with no pet of her own. If I were to give this short a moral, it would be that one of the first friends you make that becomes like family is a pet. Either that or be mindful of your pet laws depending on where you live. Not everyone can have an alligator with no teeth as a pet. Let’s take a look at the fun and furry.

  • Equestria Girls Increment Leather Follow Up

You know, there’s always something to really enjoy about these “Choose Your Ending” videos. For one thing, I kind of wished the original show had shorts like that. Can you imagine trying to change the ending for just a random short. Maybe even having Babs Seed with a different Cutie Mark instead of scissors? But If there’s one things I love is the choice of taking advice and turning it on its head in your favor. That’s apparently a talent I didn’t realize would come from Rarity. If I were to give this short a moral, it would be to look on the brighter side of things and be ready for anything to happen. Either that or trends are strange and should probably be taken with a grain of salt when you see them on social media. Let’s see how our fashionista deals with a fashion emergency.

  • Equestria Girls The Last Drop Follow Up

It’s summertime and that means getting some form of the party started and for that, we need some good music options. I’m at that age where the music I grew up with is too old to be retro so maybe some interesting dubstep options is more in favor. If there was a moral to this short, it would be to understand every form of music even if it’s not to your taste. Either that or try not to completely be random with a random guest star to help you with your act. Just a bit on the risky side. Let’s see how Vinyl Scratch turns up the tunes with our special options from the audience.

  • Equestria Girls "Let It Rain" Follow Up

Well since the area I’m living in is getting some intense rain and floods, might as well do an intense power ballad music video about rain. It seemed only fair. And boy what a music video it was. Lots of great lighting, great lyrics and power slides. Because you can’t have a rockin’ acoustic power ballad without power slides. If I were to give this music video a moral, it’s pretty much in the song itself. Even through the hard times, you have to know there’s a light at the end of it all. It’s all right to feel the pain or sadness as long as there’s hope that it gets better. Either that or become Zeus and get lightning powers to force through the weather. Whichever metaphor works for you. Let’s take a look at a Sunset singing in the rain.

  • Equestria Girls Wake Up Follow Up

Like any time for summer, there’s gonna be moments where you can’t fully sleep in past noon. Why and how that would be a thing is beyond me, but apparently for healthy people it should be taken seriously. But it looks like Sunset didn’t get the memo and now needs some help in getting up. Makes me think if the human world and the pony world runs on different time zones and the jet lag from going from one dimension to another when she first came here. If there was a moral for this, it would be to get plenty of rest so you can wake up refreshed for more fun things to do the next day. Either that or be careful of crashing. Caffeine and junk is a blessing and a curse in a lot of cases when you can’t handle it. Let’s get the Sunset to sunrise after the break.

  • Equestria Girls Five Line You Need To Stand In Follow Up

Leave it to Pinkie Pie to find joy even while standing in lines. I guess this is still on character with the short A Fine Line since the moral was basically call your friends so you’re not bored waiting in line. But this time it’s a Pinkie video about the best lines to stand in, which should be zero, but who knows. She might convince me…maybe. If I were to give this a moral, it would probably be to appreciate the little things you deal with like standing in line for something. It can be just as rewarding as getting to the end of the line. Either that or bring plenty of rechargeable batteries for handheld video games and cellphones. All line and no end makes Penny a bored girl after all. Let’s check out some lines and hopefully see where they lead to.

  • Equestria Girls How To Backstage Follow Up

So I will not deny that the moment I saw the title card, I wanted to write about this one. It’s Sunset Shimmer and it’s Sunset Shimmer this happy. This was a mighty need. So we have another YouTube based blog styled short with Sunset touring the backstage life of music artists. But since this is still a children’s show (as far as they know), they have to be more wholesome than popping bottles of champagne and drug use. We even get to know the real stars of these music festivals. If I were to give this short a moral, it’s to always appreciate the little things in these music festivals and not just the band. Everybody and everything is just as important as the performers. Either that or check on the swag bags before recording how cool they are. Never know what you’re gonna get. Let’s take a look backstage with Sunset and see how the VIPs live it up.

  • Equestria Girls The Road Less Scheduled Follow Up

Well had to get to a Choose Your Own Ending eventually and I can’t but love these whether your favorite option is there or if it’s too many good ones to choose from. This time we’re exploring the other obsessive schedule fan with Twilight. It kinda makes me think back on Sunset’s Backstage Pass that maybe Twilight could’ve been a good mediator to have Sunset on time for the concert and to have her and Pinkie still able to explore the venue. But this time her schedule will be a bit more random with a few…interesting surprises. If I were to give this one a moral, it would be to go with the flow. Just like with Sunset, she had to learn about having fun on the journey, not the destination. Either that or invest in water proof cases and screen protectors for phones. For someone as prepared as Sci Twi I’m surprised that slipped her mind. But let’s see the set up and maybe catch a lot of new information about old characters, too.

  • Equestria Girls Festival Filters Follow Up

Hang on to your cellphones because we’re gonna get heavy with the new age of photography. But not really in a serious sense. Just whatever filter is on a standard smart phone…and then some. This is probably the most easy going, least zany short you could find with EqG only because it’s just friends having fun with camera filters. Nothing really too crazy, but kind of a good thing in this case. If I were to give this uneventful short a moral, it would be to be in the moment. Pictures can be pictures, but they also mean a whole lot more. A good memory, a fun event, a record of all the people you’ve met or hung out with. There’s a reason most people would be flashing cameras like crazy from concerts to conventions. And yeah, filters are a fun spice to everyday selfies, but nothing beats the scene in all it’s glory. Ok enough sap, let’s get to some really fun images.

  • Equestria Girls Festival Looks Follow Up

Well I can’t hold out for too long with wanting to write about these so how about a little teaser of what’s to come soon. For this short we get some fashion advice when going to a music festival. Haven’t been to one? Well…yeah a lot of people haven’t lately, but it doesn’t mean you can be prepared. And it’s not just with Rarity, but everyone getting ready. I can’t really give the short a moral since it’s pretty much all useful information…well, for some it’s useful. Maybe not always take Pinkie Pie’s advice. Let’s see how the girls get ready for a festival in their unnamed video sharing recording.

  • Equestria Girls "So Much More to Me" Follow Up

So this week we’re approaching Fluttershy Day so I’m getting a head start with a music video about there being more to our little shy gal. Nothing says “check out how not shy I am” than singing to a crowd of pets while at the shelter. Probably not my preferred set up of performances, but anything with cute animals is fine with me. If I were to give this a moral, it would be not to underestimate the shy ones. As quiet or reserved as they are, they might surprise you with a gift or talent that makes them shine the brightest. Either that or make sure the door is locked before doing karaoke. Let’s get some fun pop music going from our little Flutters and see what the pets get to enjoy when we’re not around.

  • Equestria Girls Find the Magic Follow Up

Well this was a long time coming and I’m glad I can talk about probably the best villains we’ve had in this series. With the EqG movies, we basically get a lot of villains being magically rainbow magic to good and it’s not usually a bad thing. But I like the idea of still having villains. Not everyone can be your friend and thinking about it that way is a really mature thing to teach children. But with The Dazzlings, our antagonists for Rainbow Rocks, they were pretty much powered down and slipped away into obscurity. Well…show wise. The fans on the other hand? Months of Dazzlings. And after some of the hype died down, here comes a brand new video. If I were to give this music video a moral (and these girls sure and sugar need one), it would be to keep going regardless of your setbacks. And when one dream ends, start anew. Either that or make a Youtube or Tik Tok. At this point, you can be famous even while using auto tune. Let’s see what our favorite evil sea ponies are up to after losing the magic.

  • Equestria Girls Road Trippin Episode Follow Up

Well now that the girls have their own tour bus (though I think we’re not gonna get much use out of it to go to Las Vegas or something), they get to travel to their first gig outside of school functions. We really only see them perform with school dances, school trips, or stopping a group of sirens from taking over the school. The only thing that moth be a bit of a hassle is the designated driver for this trip. If we were to give this a moral, it would be to trust in you family that they can help you get through tough situations. Either that or maybe use another family member that’s not too…out of it to drive a bus. Let’s see how their short and long their trip turns out.

  • Equestria Girls Show on the Road Episode Follow Up

Nothing says getting things done in less than 5 minutes than doing it with a music montage. Not like I have ever had a problem with things getting cleaned or fixed up in this format because…why not? So just to cement The Rainbooms as an actual band, we get a tour bus being made in a music video. Very fitting. I know it’s just a music video montage, but if I were to give this a moral, it would be that nothing is impossible s long as you have friends to help you along the way. Either that or maybe choose investing in better transportation. Seriously, the bus before the make over was a dump heap that I’m very surprised it even started. And maybe be sure to have all your shots before touching a giant hunk of rusted metal, too.

(Editor’s Note: So I’m not 100% sure, but I think this title card is the closest we’ve gotten to clear letters in the human world even if it’s not spelling anything)

  • Equestria Girls Blue Crushed Episode Follow Up

Well with having to re-watch Flutter Brutter, I had no choice but to talk about another moment with Fluttershy’s very…interesting little brother Zephyr Breeze. I can say he means well sometimes, but like any sibling that’s randomly tossed into the show, he came with a lot of…quirks? Yeah we’ll go with that. For this short, his little quirk is lying to the point of almost getting himself killed to hit on Rainbow Dash. If I were to give a moral to this short, it would be to just be yourself and not lie about things you can do just to impress someone. Either that or be sure to keep receipts when you make impulse purchases to impress a girl and you know you’re not gonna use it ever again. Let’s hang ten with some surfing mishaps.

  • Equestria Girls Turf War Episode Follow Up

A NEW CHALLENGER HAS ENTERED THE ARENA…mostly for overly helpful purposes to give Applejack a run for her money in terms of helping people. This was such a random short to watch, but I don’t deny both Applejack and Timber Spruce being not just competitive, but being competitive in being helpful. The “pick me” energy is quite strong in these two. If I were to give this a moral, it would be that it’s better to work together with someone than against, especially if you have the same goals. Either that or don’t try to argue with each other while trying to save someone. Not a good look for volunteer lifeguards. Let’s dive in and see what kinds of troubles these two can prevent.
