Overview:

 This course explores the evolving landscape of the pharmacy profession and its impact on care delivery. Participants will delve into various aspects of the future of pharmacy, including emerging trends and pharmacy access, as well as how to partner with pharmacists and leverage pharmacies for improved patient outcomes.

Lucas Berenbrok, PharmD, MS, BCACP

Associate Professor, University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy

Dr. Berenbrok is a distinguished Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacy and Therapeutics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. He is recognized for pioneering OTC hearing aid education for pharmacists, conducting innovative research on the accessibility of community pharmacists, and leading the integration of pharmacist-led pharmacogenomics services into family medicine practice. Dr. Berenbrok's dedication to cultivating pharmacist leaders and improving patient health and medication outcomes with multidisciplinary outpatient healthcare teams has earned him accolades, including the Stanford I. Cohen Teacher of the Year award and the American Pharmacists Association – Academy of Student Pharmacists Faculty Member of the Year recognition. Beyond the classroom, he has established transformative pharmacy services at the University of Pittsburgh and the UPMC Health System, including a Comprehensive Medication Management Benefit and an outpatient pharmacogenomics service. His groundbreaking research, notably his work with large datasets and geographic information systems during the Covid-19 pandemic, has garnered widespread attention, underscoring the vital role of community pharmacists in enhancing individual and public health.

Dr. Patel is a healthcare executive with over 15 years of clinical and industry expertise, has a strong background in academia, patient care, and healthcare consulting. With a doctorate in Pharmacy from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and a post-graduate residency at VA Boston Healthcare System, Dhiren has authored textbooks, published research in peer-reviewed journals, and delivered numerous presentations for top life sciences companies. Currently, he serves as Co-Founder and Partner at Taurus Health, specializing in healthcare consulting, AI, and digital health solutions, as well as strategy and investment services for healthcare-focused investment firms.
