NEW OPPORTUNITIES
CHACC, short for Congress Heights Arts Culture Center, is more than just an organization—it's a close-knit family and a vibrant tribe. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, our mission is to expose, inspire, and educate both youth and adults about the abundant arts and cultural opportunities available in Wards 7 and 8. We aim to provide a comprehensive perspective that encompasses both the historical and modern aspects of these communities.
Our roots lie in the exploration of arts and culture within the African Diaspora, with a particular focus on African American communities residing East of the Anacostia River. By doing so, we strive to develop and expand cultural and artistic opportunities for our residents. One of our top priorities at CHACC is to actively involve children and youth in the ongoing economic revitalization of Wards 7 and 8.
However, CHACC is more than just a creative hub for those living East of the River—it is a place steeped in legacy. The center, which was once the residence and business space of our Executive Director's father, stands as a tangible example of black ownership, generational success, and cultural heritage. It serves as a reminder of the rich history and enduring legacy that we aim to celebrate and preserve.
At CHACC, we are dedicated to fostering a sense of community, promoting artistic expression, and empowering individuals to embrace their cultural heritage. Join us as we continue to build upon our legacy and create a brighter future for East of the River.
