This is a lead, backend-heavy role requiring hands-on coding and ownership of the systems. You will work closely with a couple of other engineers who are also new to the systems, collaborating to maintain, enhance, upgrade, and potentially re-platform key aspects of the project.

  • Collaborate with business, product, and design teams to deliver new features.
  • Collaborate with a small team of engineers to deliver high-quality solutions, mentoring and guiding them through the complexities of the systems.
  • Review, maintain, and improve upon code across various systems, taking ownership of technical debt and implementing best practices.
  • Integrate new technologies where appropriate and contribute to re-platforming projects.
  • Write clean, scalable code, following TDD principles and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Ensure data integrity and system performance, working across both SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Participate in code reviews and technical discussions, continuously improving team processes.
  • Learn and adapt quickly, understanding the complexities of legacy systems through code and documentation.

  • 7 years of professional experience in web software development
  • Proven experience leading development teams or being a technical owner of complex systems.
  • Expertise in Java, Hibernate, Spring (older versions), and working within a monolithic architecture.

  • Proven experience with AWS and building scalable, cloud-based enterprise solutions.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to complex systems by reading code and technical documentation.
