One of the most beautiful archipelagos in the world, the six islands of Thailand’s Ko Phi Phi are an undeniable picture of paradise. Beach-fronted jungles coat towering limestone cliffs, surrounded by crystal-clear waters and coral reefs. The two main islands of Phi Phi Don and Phi Phi Leh are where most tourists head, with the surrounding islands of Bida Nok, Bida Nai, and Bamboo Island offering more pristine beaches and snorkelling spots.
Most beaches across the islands are ideal for swimming, snorkelling and diving amongst colourful coral and exotic fish. On Phi Phi Don, the powdery sands of Monkey Beach attract visitors keen to spot the native primates that give the beach its name. If you’ve seen ‘The Beach’ starring Leonardo DiCaprio, you’ll be familiar with the beautiful spot of Maya Bay on Phi Phi Leh that served as the film’s location. After being closed to the public for four years due to overtourism, the stunning sheltered bay is accessible once again by chartered boats from Phi Phi Don. Other highlights on Phi Phi Leh include Sama Bay, Pi Leh Bay and Viking Cave.
While the islands’ beaches and bays are the main draws for tourists, there are many other attractions which shouldn’t be missed. A hike up to the Phi Phi Viewpoint is well worth your time, offering a wonderful view over the island’s distinctive sandbar flanked by piercing turquoise waters on either side. Other activities include rock climbing, Thai cooking classes and cliff jumping.

One of the best places to visit , it has enough activities for the younger set crowd, but has a hidden peace and soul for the older crowd. Plenty to do or plenty of time to chill. Some of the excursions are a bit busy. But just hire your self a long boat and take it all in at your own pace. Paradise x

Our experience refers to a four-night trip to PhiPhi in the Longbeach, Viking and Rantee area. It can offer various alternatives for all budgets, either for the more party-loving especially in the Tonsai and Dahlum area or for those seeking relaxation and tranquility as in Longbeach or a more private and secluded experience as in the resorts reachable only by taxiboat, the last two options being the ones we chose. The surrounding nature is breathtaking as is the sea where you can swim in crystal clear waters and snorkel with numerous excursion options, the only flaw but unavoidable is the crowding in some areas, when we visited Bamboo Island it looked like the subway at rush hour. The central part of Tonsai and Dahlum offers everything one needs even at late hours, such as small restaurants, streetfood, laundromats, tourist and health services. While moving to the outer areas one must remember that usually between 8 and 9 PM the restaurants close. As for travel, it is either on foot by land or by boat, depending on sea conditions and night hours. In tonsai bay, taxiboats are also active at the dark.

The outer islands (away from busy Phuket) were absolute Paradise! Seriously!! It’s a long slog of bumpy speedboats/ferries & longboats to get there but if you stay a few days, well worth the trip!

Its definitely place of energy and a little bit of culture mixed in. You get some of the nicest beaches here, Long Beach is exceptional and away form the port the water is lovely. The island has a huge market structure to it and you can find absolutely everything from traditional thai street food, Muy Thai boxing, cannabis shops all the way through to Irish pubs fire shows and tech house DJ's. By day its bubbling away, where you can do some nice walks and head up to the view point and by night it comes alive. I really recommend visiting, see what the fuss is about and stay a few nights to really get the feel of the island. Worst case scenario you are at one of the best ports to visit everyhting else in the area, with trips and boats to phuket, Krabi and beyond.
This is the prettiest island of my life!

This is the prettiest island of my life! I would go here again and again! It’s island life so of course it’s busy but it never felt crowded and overwhelmed. We went to phi phi coco resort and it was quiet but so much fun! And the phi phi island private tour was the best experience of my life. Prices are really good on the island too! And night life is great even though we only went to a Muay Thai fight but it was so cool and a great time!
