This was a perfect base for our stay in the Lake District. The hotel is charming and staff were friendly. Breakfast was huge and delicious. The absolute highlight was the daily cream tea with scones. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Not much. Food was sub par at best. The staff were the only saving grace.
I’ve stayed at better equipped B&B’s
Noisy room, no privacy, no heated bathroom floor, uncomfortably small bathroom. Ill appointed design layout of the bathroom.
Walls so thin, I heard everything from my neighbours (kids) and constant foot traffic meant no privacy at all!
The pub stinks of chlorine and affects the palate, so nothing can be enjoyed!
Whoever designed this place, did it with only packing as much in a small place as possible and with no regard for the actual visitors.
I wouldn’t stay here again even if you paid me!
Staff were very good though and a shame they have to support this I’ll designed over priced forgettable spa.
Not worth it at all at any price.
Howgill is located in Windermere, just 1.1 miles from World of Beatrix Potter and 23 miles from Derwentwater. Guests can go for a swim in the heated pool.

Very spacious living room and dining. Very private apartment and convenient parking. Beautiful view from windows.
What better way to unwind after a day of sightseeing than at a health and wellness spa? Spa hotels focus on maximum relaxation for their guests, providing luxury features like hot tubs, thermal pools, and professional massage services. Some spa hotels use mineral-rich water pumped straight out of the ground, helping to maintain and restore good health.
Comfortable spacious room with good shower. Loved the locally produced luxury toiletries in the bathroom - even went and bought some to take home! Excellent breakfast with choice of cooked breakfasts. Varied evening menu in comfortable surroundings meant we ended up eating in every night. Liked the comfortable residents only lounge. Pool and sauna lovely and relaxing after a day walking in the hills. Staff very friendly.
The Rothay Garden Hotel and spa lived up to our expectations. The breakfast each morning was excellent. We ate dinner on the first night, all three courses were delicious. The spa was very relaxing, including sauna, aromatherapy room and bubble pool.
Beds were huge and so comfy, rooms spacious and clean, huge bathroom with a really powerful shower. Breakfast was so delish and staff were amazing, nothing was ever too much trouble and they were always smiling. Spa was lovely and relaxing, could just do with more things in there like a hot tub/relax room. Could do with more loungers as well, we was lucky to get one as people was leaving but a lot of the time people was coming in and nowhere available to sit.
Very clean, spacious gorgeous rooms. Attentive friendly staff. Lovely help yourself cream tea on arrival and lovely breakfast. Location can’t be beaten. Great parking also with space allocated before arrival. We all loved it and had a great NYE here, there were fireworks at the sister hotel few minutes walk away. Didn’t use the pool at the sister hotel but we took a look and it looked lovely and clean and welcoming with a relaxation room and sauna. All perfect.
Gorgeous hotel in a picturesque location. The room was gorgeous, spacious and very comfortable. Great amenities in the main hotel, including the pool, sauna and relaxation room. Breakfast was lovely and we also had a fantastic dinner in the restaurant. The hotel is atmospheric and cosy, we can't wait to stay again.
Staff extremely friendly and went out of their way to help us. Room was upgraded which was a great surprise. A great location to explore Grassmere and the walks in surrounding area. Weather was perfect during our stay. Spa facilities consists of sauna aromatherapy room, jacuzzi and beds for relaxing. If you wanted a massage this had to be booked at a cost of about £60.00.
very luxury stay. we really enjoyed the pool and sauna was very relaxing and quiet. staff were very friendly and helpful, bed was huge, amazing view and was happy with everything provided. parking was enough room for cars or if you want to park out the way. the food at dinner and breakfast was also really good ! will be staying again :)
The hotel was very relaxing and tranquil. The room was comfortable and cosy. The breakfast was good with waitress service.
The Spa was small but had all the main options to be able to relax, with sauna, aromatherapy room, jacuzzi pool. Unfortunately it was not clear prior to arriving, but one had to reserve in 45min slots...
A friendly check in, complimentary upgrade to a beautiful suite. Really comfy huge bed, clean and stylish room. Spa - sauna was hot, jacuzzi was great with good view. Slept so well, very quiet, comfy. The breakfast was lovely, great service and excellent food. We really felt pampered and spoiled. A really relaxing and wonderful 1-night stay. Thoroughly recommended.
