Shokinkan is set in Yasugi, 27 km from Lake Shinji, 29 km from Lafcadio Hearn Memorial Museum, and 25 km from Mizuki Shigeru Museum. Staying with Shokinkan is an unforgettable experience.Before our stay, I contacted the owner about shuttle bus and they replied promptly. To our surprise, the owner gave us a ride from Adachi museum to the accommodation. Talking of the location, Shokinkan is inside temple complex. You need to go through the pavement of the temple to reach there. Regarding room, it is spacious and the scenery from the window is beyond expression. Green fresh momiji with red azalea. What a combination! We are welcomed with matcha and local sweet upon arrival. Before dinner, taking a shower and immersed in the bath to erase the tiredness from travel. They provide Shojin Cuisine for dinner. No matter the food or the utensils are with high quality and sensibility. The owner’s wife suggested us the local sake, which matched with food perfectly. The portion of dinner is generous. Seasonal vegetables are very tasty. The next morning, before breakfast, we explored Kiyomizu temple during rain. After check out, the owner took us all the way back to Yasugi station.

Set within less than 1 km of Shimane Museum of Ancient Izumo and a 12-minute walk of Izumo-Taisha Grand Shrine, NIPPONIA Izumo Taisha Shrine Town offers rooms with air conditioning and a private... There were so quiet and peaceful and the staff was so kind.

Enclosed in the scenic woods of west Shimane, Ryokan Nushiya is a 250-year old traditional house established in the Edo period, placed in the middle of a 10,000 square metre private garden. This was our fourth trip to Japan and we've stayed in many ryokans. This is one of our favorites. The space we stayed at was huge. It was a two-story stand alone building. The seats looked out onto the courtyard with a pond and a lot of trees, which was very peaceful. I'm usually not the type to stay in my hotel/ryokan all day, but this place tempted me to do so due to the serenity of the courtyard. There were two private onsen that were easy to access due to the small number of guests that stay here. The food was fabulous. While walking around one morning I found a hiking trail that led up to castle ruins. The next morning I hiked up to the ruins and down the other side and came out near the Moss Land.

Ohashikan is a 5-minute drive from JR Matsue Station and a 15-minute walk from Matsue-jo Castle. It offers Japanese-style accommodation with 2 indoor baths, free parking and free Wi-Fi access. Stunning, authentic and clean room(s), kind and understanding staff who spoke to me slowly in Japanese to assist with checkin, and rules were reiterated in English on documents anyway despite Matsue being relatively rural. Absolutely beautiful view at both night and in the morning, I was shocked! Onsen came free with the stay. Zero complaints, the best stay of our trip around Japan.

Featuring free WiFi throughout the property, Onsen Guest House Aobato no Su offers accommodation in Matsue, a few steps from Tamatsukuri Onsen. Free private parking is available on site. Highly recommended guest house. It’s valuable for solo traveler to stay and enjoy the Japanese onsen culture The staff is super nice. They will notice my note and pick up from the JR station. I have lost my watch in the hotel and then the staff help me to deliver it . I really appreciate the help from them.

Featuring sea views, Mihokan offers accommodation with a garden, a terrace and a bar, around 11 km from Mizuki Shigeru Road. So close to the fishing harbour, the room I was assigned was facing it and it was a wonderful view to wake up to every morning there. The room is clean, the futon is very comfortable!

5.4 km from Lake Shinji in Matsue, Hotel Gyokusen features accommodation with access to a sauna, hot spring bath and public bath. Top to bottom, I’m traveling 16 days, so far best ever. Old style Japanese Life music to so many choice , fancy dinner, great Onsen to its view. But one day to make other day to female , you can have even you stay a day, either morning or night It worth it every penny. Stay there two days. I did one but already scheduled other town, if you do , please try two days

Counting an almost 200-year history, Fukumakan features Japanese-style rooms and freestanding cottages, some overlooking Miho Bay. The staff are incredibly kind and accommodating. The accommodation itself was absolutely beautiful; because I am traveling with my pet, I was in the Annex, which exceeded my wildest dreams in terms of comfort and privacy. The town is a small seaside area in a quiet bay, with a gorgeous Shinto temple and absolutely beautiful historic area. I can't wait to come back once I'm better at Japanese, I suspect there's much more to be discovered in this area! Oooh, and oh my god, the food! I went for the half board, and was absolutely blown away by the variety, quality, and presentation of my meals. I am so grateful for my time here.

Featuring free Wi-Fi, Noren Yado Meigetsu is a traditional Japanese building. Set in Tsuwano and surrounded by hills, it offers a Japanese garden and massages. We arrived much later than planned due to the cancellation of several trains because of a typhoon, and were very surprised to see someone waiting for us at the train station with a car. The meals are visually beautiful, very tasty and abundant, the staff is very friendly, the facilities ate simple, traditional and enjoyable
