Biwako Hanakaido features outdoor and indoor hot-spring baths, 3 dining options and rooms with a balcony and Lake Biwako views. It also has a garden and a sauna, while the lobby offers free WiFi. Modern facilities while keeping traditional japanese decor with tatami mats. Comfortable beds/futon. Had fun with wearing yukatas in the premises, also for dinner and breakfast. Lovely traditional multi course dinner! Simple nutritious breakfast as well. We had a party with a nut allergy and they took it seriously with substitutions for some items on the dinner menu. Our private onsen in the room was great as well, perfect temperature with a nice little view of Lake biwako. Some of us also enjoyed the public bath. All staff were amazing, from the receptionist, to the waitresses and the driver. All of us felt we were very well taken care of despite only staying one night.

長浜城下 町屋ホテル 和乃リトリートひといき features a sauna and free private parking, and is within 14 km of Hikone Castle and 8.6 km of Maibara Station. Our room was wonderful. The amenities were thoughtful and high quality. The host was extremely friendly and treated us to a tour of beautiful Nagahama.

KAMENOI HOTEL Hikone provides a hot spring bath and free private parking, and is within 2.7 km of Hikone Castle and 6 km of Maibara Station. The staff were extremely kind and helpful. We had some delay in reaching the accommodations, but they allowed us to have our dinner right as we entered, before checking in. They also helped us to call a taxi to the train station on our last day. My mother left an item behind, and they kindly mailed it over to my address in Tokyo after we left! Compliments to the chef, the food every breakfast and dinner were so delicious, and my family and I got to try many local delicacies in the comfort of the hotel :) My parents also enjoyed their very first experience of onsen here!

Located in Hikone, within less than 1 km of Hikone Castle and 7.2 km of Maibara Station, Honmachi Juku provides accommodation with a garden and free WiFi as well as free private parking for guests who... The homemade Japanese breakfasts were phenomenal and a very good value. Almost unbelievable. Each day was different, with a healthy balance of vegetables, proteins, and carbs (rice). Authentic, and served by a wonderful woman.

Only a 5-minute drive from JR Ogoto Onsen Station with the complimentary shuttle, hotel Yuzanso features Japanese-style rooms with a private open-air hot spring bath and spectacular views of Biwako... Meals were served in the restaurant instead of in the room. The meals were delicious and deceptively filling (as in, you wouldn't think you'd get full but you do!). Our room was amazing with a great view. The in-room onsen worked perfectly.

Biwako Ryokusuitei offers Japanese-style/Western rooms with Lake Biwako views, a flat-screen TV and free Wi-Fi. Dinner was amazing and the staff and service was so attentive. Anzono our waiter for our dinner service went above and beyond. When one of us had to leave dinner before dessert to make their massage appointment, he offered and prepared a plate of the full dessert on a tray to be taken to the room for enjoyment afterwards.

Featuring 1-star accommodation, Tobaya Ryokan is set in Hikone, 1.5 km from Hikone Castle and 7.7 km from Taga-taisha Shrine. This ryokan features a garden. historical building, excellently maintained, great privacy. authentic experience, excellent and welcoming host!

16 km from Enryaku-ji Temple, Yumotokan offers a recently renovated 4-star accommodation in the Ogoto Onsen district of Otsu. Everything. Dinner was superb and they recognized my allergic ingredients I had informed since booking a half boarded room. Nice outdoor onsens including one on the top of the building. Plenty of free parking.

Ebisusou is located in Takashima, 39 km from Ruriko-in Temple, 41 km from Enryaku-ji Temple, as well as 42 km from Mount Hiei. The place is a little bit odd yes, but it’s a wonderful example of a traditional Japanese hospitality (even if the building doesn’t look traditional… but 70s) the hot bath was one of the best I ever had in Japan and the food was incredible. And I paid only 8250 yen for a half course stay (1 person). And the owner did his best to explain everything (with a digital language translator).
