Absolutely fantastic little guesthouse (and observatory) right off the beaten track and in the most peaceful hillside location, you’re really up in the hills with great views. Very affordable Japanese style rooms, really clean and comfortable even for a group (8) sharing a large family room! Shared bathrooms with good showers and a lovely warm bath. You can request breakfast (Japanese style) and a basic noodles or curry & rice dinner which is simple, but really hits the spot after a day exploring the Iya Valley. The folks running the guesthouse were super friendly, helpful and generally all round lovely, showing us round the observatory and helping us with stargazing. We only intended to stay one night but loved it so much we stayed an extra night! Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend, such a very special place.

Breakfast and dinner was superb with excellent service. The staff was friendly and went out of their way to accommodate our every need. The rooms were spacious and the view amazing. This is truly a dream come true kind of hotel.

I absolutely loved staying here. It was so quaint and peaceful with the best view. It was in a great location with lots of sights nearby. Would definitely stay here again

Got the in-room rotenburo option and it was just what we were looking for - temperature is suitable for smaller children, and they could play with the water inlet flow without disturbing other guests in the public bath.. Faciities as expecte and functional.

Set in Kochi, 36 km from Daizen-ji Temple, Hotel Takasago provides accommodation with free bikes and private parking. Loved this hotel for its kindness, cleanliness, and atmosphere. Had friendly staff and koi pond a the bottom. The friendly staff held our luggage for the day but also let us check into the room a few hours early, and it was a lovely spacious Japanese style room including tatami floors but with two twin actual mattress beds. The room was huge with a nice view and was only a short walk from Kochi Station. It's only a short walk to the city area as well. Loved the Japanese style breakfast. My friend was ill so the staff were really helpful to help me take her food to our room and eat it there. It cost a little more than our usual budget but it was worth paying a little extra for a fancy night of Japanese style accommodation with friendly staff.

Sansuien features an open-air natural hot spring bath, a Japanese garden and Western and Japanese-style rooms, only a 5-minute walk from Kochi Castle. This was a true, bonafide, traditional Japanese ryokan experience! There is so much history that it justifies the facilities being older. The whole experience was wonderful, especially the kind and excellent staff.
