Such a nice big cabin, well heated, staff were wonderful! Beautiful area! Read on a previous review that there was a gas smell from the heating which made me worry but there was no gas smell at all! It was an incredibly pleasant stay.

There was also a nice sun-room-like sitting area. The food was great and they were able to accommodate for ovo-lacto vegetarian diet. Everyone was very attentive and polite. The location was excellent and has easy access to the busstop and Hell's Valley. Having a private bath was great!

Everything from the check in experience, the food, the service. It was winter solstice and they prepared yuzu bath for good luck. They also clean your shoes as they keep them.

Tsuruga Resort offers luxurious accommodation and hot-spring baths by Lake Shikotsu. Massage services and a fitness centre are on offer. The spacious rooms include a flat-screen TV and seating area. Loved everything here. The dinner and breakfast is sublime. The quality of the food served at the buffet dinner and breakfast is good, and there is a wide variety and options available. They turn their desserts into artwork and that pleasing both visually and gastronomically. The onsen experience was good especially the outdoor ones. In the resort, they give you white socks to walk around, and that is the testament on the cleanliness level as the socks are still white after a night's stay there. We enjoyed having drinks at the bar near the hearth at the lounge, and just chilled to the talented harpist playing her tunes. Wished we could have stayed another night, but there aren't many activities around the area during winter.

Featuring natural hot-spring baths and fresh Japanese meals, Kashoutei Hanaya Ryokan offers spacious rooms overlooking the Oyunuma River. It is a very nice traditional style ryokan with its own onsen. We had a Japanese style room with dinner and breakfast in the room. The ryokan had everything we were hoping for in our first experience. There are two onsens per gender, one inside and one outdoors. It is very nicely organized and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. We read the reviews about not so good location but no. Bus stop is 2 min from there. The village and he'll valley walk 15 min stroll. So everything is easily accessible and hassle free. We also used the shuttle service on the way up from Noboribetsu Station. Everything was calming and relaxing. Just like an onsen should be.
