Breakfast was sumptuous and beautiful. Shabu shabu dinner, ordered after arriving, was excellent. The milk tofu and shashimi entrees were amazing, so were the meat and vegetables.
We were very happy with the owner’s recommendation of the cruise to Chikubu island.
The onsen was fabulous. Walking distance to the train station and many good restaurants in spite of being a small town. We enjoyed walking along the lake and listening to the waves. We would highly recommend this ryokan.

It's a very traditional Ryokan with baths, dinner and breakfast. I believe this one is family run and they try hard to make every guest feel important starting by having your name on the guest list of the day in the window.
Also loved the dinner spread which I finished everything laid out (I had beef shabu shabu). Morning breakfast was simple and filling.

We loved the private bath as well as the spacious and traditional room. Having a massage chair looking out over Lake Biwa was an added bonus. The staff were also very friendly, responsive, and kind.

Very traditional type of accommodation slightly modernized in a cool way. Slap bang dab in the middle of the old town. Feels like you’re on a movie set, or you’ve gone back in time. I’ve been to Japan a million times but I’ve never had accommodation quite like this before. Bedroom has a really nice ambiance. Reception host speaks fluent English and was very helpful with all inquiries.

The atmosphere is traditional and, homely, with a cost free area where you can unwind with other guests and eat..with small lodgings for no hand than a handful of guests. The service was strong by western standards. The owner even drove me to the nearest convenience store when I made dinner enquiries and wanted directions to the nereast convenience store. I was delighted by the washoku breakfast, set me up perfectly for the day.

The staff at this hotel were exceptionally kind and welcoming! We arrived on motorcycles and were able to park them for free under the shelter right by the entrance. The room was spacious, and we had a wonderfully comfortable sleep. The bathroom was also impressively large, with an equally spacious bathtub.
The location is excellent, making it easy to go for a walk, sightsee, or find something delicious to eat nearby.

Experience culture authentically with a stay at this traditional Japanese-style accommodation. Sleep on the floor (on a futon roll) in a room furnished with tatami flooring and sliding doors. Guests can often expect access to a communal bath plus a complimentary Japanese garment called a yukata.
Excellent stay at this beautiful guest house during our cycle around Lake Biwa! It's an absolute gem of a place. The property itself is very well maintained, with traditional features throughout (such as the tatami room and the Kotatsu in the living room). The owners were extremely friendly and went above and beyond to make sure we had a comfortable stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would love to come back! Highly recommended.
Host was hospitable and friendly. Onsen usually closed in the morning but he offered to open upon request from 6am to 8am. Room was clean and spacious.
Everything about our stay is perfect. This Ryokan is full of character. Great hospitality from the owner - they are very friendly and made sure our stay was comfortable and provided good dinner recommendations. Having an onsen in the ryokan is a huge bonus - this is probably the highlight of our stay. Authentic Japanese breakfast served. The location is near the train station making sites around Lake Biwa accessible. We're so glad we stayed here.
I met the owner, Iki, who was very friendly and accommodating. Her house is lovely with all the facilities that we need. It has parking spot that can fit 2 MPVs. The house has good heater system (we went in winter), washer, tatami & beds, kitchen for us to cook with basic appliances. The location is about 10-15mins away from the Hakodateyama Gondola (our main target was Mt Hakodateyama to play snow). The house was easy to find as per the google map's direction.
Wonderful experience in a traditional house in a deep mountain of Japan. The dinner and breakfast were exceptional, prepared and presented with care and love. We rented a car to get here and visited nearby small towns for shopping. The onsen nearby has good facilities, and the quality of the water was excellent.
Strongly recommend if you wish to experience a traditional Japanese living and hospitality.
I stayed here while biking around lake biwa. The dinner was delicious and the onsen felt great after a day of biking! The owner was kind and gifted me keychains and candy 🥹 Thank you very much 🙏
