Absolutely fantastic. This was a big splurge for us, and to be honest we were quite nervous about the cost. As soon as we arrived the service was amazing. The room is beautiful, the hot spring as well. The evening meal was the best we had in Japan, and the breakfast was delicious. The staff attentive and kind. Simply put, if you’re like us and treating yourself - don’t hesitate to book this place, it was one of the best experiences we had in the Japan.

The property being next to the road was not ideal as you could hear the road / traffic noiseProperty had too many levels being built on a slope. Walking to and from the room to the lobby for meals quite cumbersome.
The tea area could be improved with more snack offerings. Currently very limited.
Located in Minakami in the Gunma region, Nakaya Ryokan provides accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking, as well as access to a hot spring bath.

We loved staying in this little ryokan. The staff are really friendly. The baths are great. We got 2 private bath times to use the wooden and stone baths. The place is so traditional and quiet. Parking is right next door. We loved making up our own beds and the free tea station.

Staffs were very helpful. Location was ok, just 10mins walk from the Ikaho onsen stone steps bus terminal. Hotel room was big and clean. Love the view from my room window.

Very friendly staff, some of them could speak English well, the room was spacious and had a very good view of the mountains, futon was comfortable to sleep in, appreciated that they topped up the water in the kettle, the onsen was delightful, the snacks were delicious, amenities provided were good quality, location was up on the steep hill but the bus stop is maybe about 100 meters away. Overall, it was worth it and a delight to stay in.
Experience culture authentically with a stay at this traditional Japanese-style accommodation. Sleep on the floor (on a futon roll) in a room furnished with tatami flooring and sliding doors. Guests can often expect access to a communal bath plus a complimentary Japanese garment called a yukata.
What a beautiful hotel! I could relax in the hot spring after arrival and before breakfast! The homemade tofu at breakfast was amazing! There was so much variety of food that I started my work day off in great spirits. The hotel staff was also very helpful in helping me find my way around town.
Onsen inside of the hotel was amazing.
Resturant had amazing food for a good price. English menu also available
Rooms were super spacious even for the single room. Beds were comfortable and had independent air-conditioning.
Staff were super friendly and the guy that checked me in was able to assist with english which made it super easy to check in.
