Experience culture authentically with a stay at these traditional Japanese-style accommodations. Sleep on the floor (on a futon roll) in a room furnished with tatami flooring and sliding doors. Guests can often expect access to a communal bath, plus a complimentary Japanese garment called a yukata.
This is a beautiful Ryokan with lovely staff who were happy to have a little chat when we arrived and checked out. The rooms are spacious and very aesthetic with good amenities. The bathing facilities are fantastic and very relaxing after a long cycle route.
Very good for the Shimanami Kaido cycle, it is directly on the cycle route. It is opposite the beach, close to a local cafe, restaurant and bus stop. Very comfortable tatami mat room with a lot of kitchen amenities. Hosts were very kind and helpful. We enjoyed the little shop in reception with local jams. We are at the local okonomiyaki restaurant which was delicious (good for vegetarians and vegans).
The lady working here was so friendly and welcoming, she made me feel right at home! The place was very tidy and it was a 30sec walk from the train station. Perfect if you are doing the cycle way. You get a discount for a local onsen if you buy a ticket at the hostel.
Excellent ryokan. We had one of our favorite meals here and the woman who ran the place was absolutely wonderful and welcoming. I hope to return again in the future.
The location is great. Facilities are modern and comfortable. Very peaceful and great outlook near the water. Staff very helpful and friendly. Nice local food options close by as well. Having free shuttle service to and from public onsen was great too!
We stayed in the Japanese-style room here, which has a beautiful view of the ocean and a beach right outside. The futons were very comfortable, with big fluffy blankets, and linen pyjamas were provided too. The lovely owners greeted us with a fresh juice, and booked a delicious okonomyaki restaurant around the corner for us. We stayed here for one night while cycling the Shiminami Kaido but would love to come back for longer. The room has a little kitchenette in it with a kettle/fridge/hot plate/microwave, and a private bathroom.
A lovely traditional Ryokan with fantastic hosts, unfortunately there were no restaurants open in town...hardly the hosts fault! Close to the rose gardens which were spectacular overall very good
An absolutely outstanding experience, thanks to the hospitality of the staff and Mai-san in particular!
Mai-san went above and beyond, making sure we have a great experience and even drove us to an incredible, local onsen.
The ryokan is located in the middle of Shimanami Kaido cycling route and is a perfect stop for a two-day trip.
if we ever do this route again, we will definitely book Sawaki!
