The curphew! We were floored. It was 9:30pm. Since we arrived late they gave us until 10:30pm but at 10:20 the owner was already ushering our guests out. Our family who we hadn’t seen in years were rushed out. We understand people have to sleep but it was odd. At 9:30pm all guests must be indoors. We suggest they give a set hotel quiet hour and let guests at least have until midnight to be out.

The location is incredible. It’s an old mansion with incredible architecture. Victor the reception desk manager was so friendly. We loved him.

The bathroom wasn't fully private inside the room since the wall didn't go all the way to the ceiling.

The room we had was huge! It looks a bit like a church inside. The ceilings are super high and they have old decorations. The location was great and doing laundry with them was cheap

The hostel was a bit rough around the edges; the room I was in definitely needs a new showerhead as the water was barely coming out

The owner and his sons were very friendly and helpful; large room; wi-fi worked really well in my room as did the air-conditioning; great location not far from the main square, shops, and restaurants

One of our rooms had a minor ceiling leak during a very intense storm that passed through the night of our stay. However, the staff was diligent in addressing it and keeping us dry.

Loved the history and upkeep of the historic building. The staff was very nice, shared building history and helped make us comfortable.

Trying to get in/out of the hostel was hard because we always had to bluse the door bell- in saying that this seems to be an issue in a number of Santa Ana hostels. Some free water would have been great.

Very close to town, nice and helpful staff. We has air con which helped a lot. The building was lovely and classical, I personally had no issues the maintenance of the place. Our private room was huge.

Our only complaint is the noise. While it is a nice room, it was impossible to sleep. The room is right on the road, and I guess because it's an old building, there is not much blocking sound out. It feels like you're on the road with the cars. Because of its central location, cars are driving by all night long. Still fine for the price, but be aware when booking that if you're a light sleeper, this will be a tough place to stay.

Excellent location, right by the park. The room was really big, as was the bathroom. Staff is kind and available to help. There is a really nice courtyard inside.

The hosal front door was in a state of disrepair, meaning it was difficult to open sometimes.

The location is perfect, being 2 blocks from the cathedral square in the center.

The property itself was just fine; rather, it’s a bit more of a challenge finding the right bus terminals either for the volcano hike or to go elsewhere like San Salvador. it’s all doable though and is more of an indictment on El Salvador not being quite as tourist friendly as other countries.

Just 2 blocks from Central Park; the price is hard to beat; Pepe is a very helpful and good soul!

The building is a bit run-down in places, but it is still beautiful and great value.

Great value for money and very close to the main plaza. The old building is really beautiful. Chris and Pepe were both super-friendly and spoke good english. Definitely the friendliest place we stayed at in El Salvador.

Staff seemed at bit uncoordinated, unable to locate keys for awhile, forgetting towels, not realizing we'd paid and not knowing we'd checked out when we came back the next afternoon to get our luggage. Also, we were charged $1 more than the Booking.com price, which (thankfully) seems to be much less common these days.

I have to admit, it feels pretty fun to be staying in such a historic house. The rooms were massive (as I suppose one might expect, given it's presidential past) and there was a nice courtyard inside. It would have been hard to get much closer to all of the activity in Santa Ana's main square than this hostel and the area also felt surprisingly safe (even at night). Although we don't remember seeing it advertised, there was a kitchen available (though it was pretty dirty and not the most pleasant to cook in).

Owner is a scammer. He claims he doesnt receive payment from booking and demands you to pay what you already paid thru booking.com. I had issues with them not knowing i was supposed to be there, they couldnt find the keys to one room. The place smells old, wet and stagnant. The lights are dim and fail/flicker. A funeral home has a better ambiance than this place. No wondwer the place is only inhabited by the guard and the receptionist who also complained of not being paid by the owner. When i got the owner on the phone, he was a complete jerk going as far as to say he doesnt care at all as long as he gets your money and tjat he can complain of you with booking and get booking to not return your money

    Nothing at all
