Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We’re currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil, and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The room was a little tired looking, could do with some love and a bit of a birthday.
Staff were lovely, absolutely no issues at all, the place is just a little tired and needs a bit of a birthday!

It's relatively far from the city but you don't have to worry about that if you're driving.
The rooms are large and the hygiene is good. The staff is very friendly.

Not enough power points Kitchen facilities were outdated eg PowerPoint for kettle was on the side of the stove....weird Shelves in fridge constantly fell out. Mould in bathroom Pay tv did not work

There was a bed in the living area which was strange and not requested by us. The TV also needs to be updated to smart TV or invest in Chromecasts so streaming from phones and devices is possible as Sky TV had nothing of interest and the signal was horrid so could not watch anything properly

Bed was very soft and lacked extra pillows. Tv wasn't tuned so was unwatchable. Rooms a little tired and dates

Really comfortable and convenient place to stay. Beds were nice and comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed for self catering. It was nice and clean and very good value.

Maybe the layout TV is off to the side and couch at end of the beds probably should be set up with them in opposite locations.
The owners were very helpful and accommodating with traveling to Wellington with a trailer in tow they were very helpful allowing me to park it in a safe spot and helping me move it.

Although the double bed was soft, it rocked when the partner turned over etc. The shower cubical was small.
No breakfast, but milk was provided for each day. Roomier than I expected & it had a closet & kitchen. Free parking out front door. Heating was fine.

I would just warn people that like most motels it is set on a busy main road so if you have young children or pets you will need to be vigilant with regard to road safety and not leave your door open for little ones to wander out- but this type of positioning is normal for a motel- not a criticism of the motel itself. There is a beautiful park a short walk behind and lovely flower-filled, quiet neighborhoods if you go wandering around the blocks behind the motel; so no need to be put off by the busy road. My husband and I are active people and don't have a car and we were able to walk into Christchurch centre from there about 30 minute brisk walk; local buses only take cash and not cards at this stage so come prepared if you don't have a car. Christchurch is a beautiful garden city and deserves to be explored!
Very good sized motel room with full kitchen and living room areas included. Retro interiors have been well-maintained despite 1960s/70 era building. Solid place to stay and practical for self catering. We stayed with our two cats for a week and were very comfortable. It is just across the road from the "Warehouse" which is a big low cost department store/supermarket open until 12 midnight which sells not only foodstuffs but all sorts of practical homewares, clothing and electronics you could need- we found this hugely practical. Vivian the manager/owner of the motel was extremely welcoming and helpful with information. Excellent pet-friendly motel offering studio-apartment style amenities.

Upon booking it said free parking was available, we had 2 cars which there was only parking for 1 small vehicle and ‘free street parking’ down the next block - I think it should be stated before booking that only space for 1 small car
