Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We’re currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil, and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we"d publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The place is impeccable. We enjoyed our stay. The hotel is very near the Cathedral as well as the main train station which was convenient for us… Mr Hans was kind enough to answer all my inquiries. The breakfast was superb!!! Love the meticulously ironed linens ! And the ladies who help us with our coffee every morning.We will go back again and stay ay this hotel. Thank you for our wonderful experience

The mattress was quite firm, but I guess some people might like that.
Location was perfect, so close to the train station and the Cologne Cathedral. The front desk man was the nicest human I’ve ever met. I showed up at 11am praying a room was available for early check in because I was exhausted, but none were since it was fully booked. He offered me the only room available which was quite small, but I was so grateful and appreciative of it, the size didn’t bother me one bit. I’d stay here again!

car park was a paid public car park, but this is right outside the front of the hotel. So great location, but shame you have to pay for parking

Like me, the hotel feels as though it is ageing a bit
Excellent staff. I got a very warm welcome! Even arriving early. My suitcase had been delivered to my room by the time I returned and I felt genuinely looked after. It’s also in an excellent location for the train station - a critical factor in my choice.

Our room wasn't cleaned one of the days - but probably our fault as we were a bit late going out that morning. And the cleaner turned the radiators (in the room and the bathroom) back on, despite our having turned them off. But pretty minor issues, and nothing that was going to spoil our stay!
Great hotel within easy walking distance of everything - tucked away behind the main station (but not right on top of it) and just up from the river and main bridge. The hotel has a friendly family feel, the room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was lovely. Would definitely recommend this as a good mid-range place to stay when visiting Cologne.

The pillows were too soft and shapeless for me as a side sleeper.
I loved my stay here! The room was updated, super clean, and really comfortable. I especially enjoyed the lovely breakfast room and good array of breakfast options. Also, the location was perfect.

Everything was great!
Exceptional location as it’s just a two minute walk from the Cologne Hbf station. The hotel is very cozy and charming with its retro style. It’s very clean and comfortable! All the staff are super friendly and helpful especially Hans and the gentleman who still made us the delicious breakfast bag to go as we had to check out early to catch our train (sorry I didn’t catch his name but thank you again! It was delicious!).
