Situated 20 km from Cape Town, the elegant Steenberg Hotel & Spa offers a unique experience of heritage, fine wine and excellent cuisine. I don't usually write reviews as I work for one of the largest travel, leisure and hotel groups in the world, but this stay was so exceptional that I must. From attentive, friendly staff that would always go above and beyond, through to a beautiful location and thoughtfully appointed rooms. I would highly reccomend this as a place to escape and relax. If you like high quality, this is definitely the place to be.

Spacious room with all necessities and bathroom it should not be more. The breakfast was something different every day and just as delicious as our mother's food. Everything was SUPER.

The place is a peach - tick all the boxes! The blend of modern styling and rustic furniture is a certain winner. The place is quaint and oozes charm. Rafters (with real rafters!) is the plum in Plumstead, and truly feels like home away from home. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by the charmin Fiona and husband Rod. After exchanging a few pleasantries, our host, considered as they are left us alone to settle in - with a class of an excellent red wine. And then I saw the rafters - and fell in love with the place. I shall most definitely return to listen to the whispering in the rafters - at the RAFTERS!

It's difficult to put into words the amazing time we had at Plotsklaps. The beautiful property is in a perfect location in the Tokai neighborhood of Cape Town, equidistant between downtown and all the attractions around False Bay and Cape Point. It sits beneath a picturesque mountain near many great dining and shopping places as well as the Constantia vineyards and Kirstenbosch botanical garden. Guests stay in a two-story guest cottage next to Dave and Rachael's house, both of which are architectural wonders with their high thatched rooves supported by exposed log beams. Our two kids (aged 9 and 11) slept soundly in the bunkbeds in the downstairs room, with their own bathroom. The master bed upstairs was very comfortable and the bathroom was very spacious. There's a full kitchen (with washer and dryer), dining room, office area, and living room with hundreds of TV channels and DVDs of classic movies. We really appreciated the welcome items of coffee, home-grown eggs, bread, milk, and delicious jams and rusks that Rachael makes herself. It was particularly nice to be able to wash our clothes after a week on safari. The property has a spacious pool and poolside pavilion with a barbecue pit and a large yard where the kids could play soccer and the chickens and cats roamed free. Dave's generator was much appreciated during "load-shedding," i.e., set periods each day when the government-run electric company turns off everyone's electricity because the power plants can't handle the overall demand. Dave and Rachael were fantastic hosts, attending to our every need and providing great recommendations about local activities and dining. They were extremely communicative, always happy to chat about where to go, how to get there, and what to do while there.

Apartment is connected to the hosts’ property but still very private with its own garden/sunbathing patio.

A lovely cottage in a very safe area only a few moments away from the winelands and 30 minutes away from most other Cape Town attractions. The host was kind and attentive. The cottage was well decorated to a high standard and easily accomodated our family of four. The garden is immaculate and pool very clean.

Tranquil Tokai is located in Tokai, a 5-minute drive from Blue Route Mall. Free WiFi is available and free private parking is available on site. First class accommodation in a peaceful setting.

Located on the slopes of the Cape's Constantia Mountains, High Timbers Lodge offers spacious accommodation with free Wi-Fi. Breakfast was very good. Perhaps could have been more varied.
