Venlo is a quaint town in the middle of Limburg along the river Maas. It has a lot of nice surrounding villages which makes it perfect for hiking and picturesque biking. The town center is very lively with a very nice town square and city hall. It is also good for shopping. Good food options are the Aubergine (in a suburb called Tegelen), Alde Mert and Chez Philippe. There is plenty to do for kids as well. There is a big outdoor play area at Klein Zwitserland and a huge indoor one at Ballorig as well.

Varied breakfast, for all tastes. And the town is quite atypical for the Netherlands: it is located between hills, crossed by a fast river, and there is even a chairlift. We had never been to Limburg and it is beautiful there! Check in was easy, and although there wasn't a wheelchair accessible room available, the room we had was fine. Since we were there for only 1 night, an accessible shower was not necessary. Had we stayed longer, the staff would have moved us when an accessible room became available.

Great place, close to train station. Hotel had lots of bikers training for race on April 15th. Limburg has hills. Great bus ride via de Bemmeler road back to Maastrict.
