Cute family run bed and breakfast. The mother and son duo (I believe) are professional and so caring. I ordered their Tochigi wagyu steak for dinner and it was one of the best meals I had in Japan. Incredible marbling of the steak and the complimenting dishes were amazing. The breakfast was also amazing and they even gave me a snack pack before I left. Amazing hospitable hosts that I would recommend for anyone. There are two private onsens available 24/7 on site too. Tobu bus stop right across the street for easy access.

This guest house is a hidden gem! The room was in a beautiful traditional Japanese style with Tatami floor and futon beds and our host was just the kindest and nicest person! :) it’s located right next to the canal there is a bento shop on the first floor. A supermarket, the Tochigi station and a boat ride on the canal are all in walking distance.

Great staffs, very attentive and helpful, their English is pretty good, too. We stayed in the Annex Wing, which is the renovated one. The building looks old but the room is very well-equipped with modern facilities. The room is also very clean and spacious. The window offered us a peaceful view over the front yard of the hotel with mountains in the back and autumn foliage. Our booking includes breakfast and dinner. Both are delicious with fresh ingredients. The menu is a bit limited though, in terms of variety of food, and we need to pay extra for some dishes. Still, we were happy with the size of the portions and quality of food. Last but not least, PERFECT location: just next to Shinkyo Bridge and a few steps away from the main Shrines. We could visit all of the main attractions on foot. There are also bus stops in front of the hotel, from which we can go to Chuzenji Lake as well as Nikko station. Overall, we enjoyed our stay a lot and felt very welcomed at Nikko Kanaya Hotel.

staff friendly and polite, I made the hotel reservation on the booking website, after completing the reservation I realized that the room was for smokers, I asked for a room change, they promptly moved me to a non-smoking room, The meal had a huge variety of food, the breakfast was also fantastic, I definitely want to stay there again

It was a relaxing area. The staff was amazing. The rooms were clean and had great amenities.

I like how you can have easily access to all of the hotels amenities, I also enjoy the view and the onsen

The location is amazing and you can walk to the shrine. Just a short bus trip to the train station.

There are many activities to do like Karaoke, Table Tennis, Game Center, Body Massage and Foot massages etc. Room is spacious with nice veranda. There are a number of onsen to choose from. Outdoor onsen is great. Provision to reserve a private onsen is a good point. Good selection of food for the buffet dinner and buffet breakfast.

Brakfast and dinner were excellent. The room is spacious.

The location over the river is amazing. Super tranquil and relaxing stay.

I was here for my 60th birthday. I asked for a room that was quiet and with a view. Both of those were absolutely accommodated for on the 12th floor, no less. I could see the beautiful mountainside while listening to the river below. What an incredible view and experience. From the moment I arrived, the wonderful lady at the front desk made sure my stay was beyond expectations. She spoke great English and was helpful in every way imagined. She truly went out of her way to make me feel special. She and all of the staff were like family. I will never forget them and the wonderful time I had. They are truly in my heart. The hotel truly is a ray of sunshine. That is because of its staff and absolutely picturesque location. The food is also quite delicious. I truly found peace and solitude. Thank you Kona

I was originally interested in this hotel because I read that the Onsen had a Museum full of Kishio Suga's work. I had been following this amazing Japanese artist for a number of years... so that fact was a deciding factor for me. But, the Onsen, the staff, the care that we felt they put into everything they did, the atmosphere of the place, the gardens also designed by Kishio Suga, the delightful guests we had the pleasure of meeting, our room and the food we were served - and let's not forget the tour of the museum! - made me love this place. Itamuro Onsen Daikokuya has history. Someone told us that the Onsen was 500 years old. Most of the Japanese guests we met there went to purely relax. The kind and capable staff take amazing care of all the guests: A Japanese friend in Tokyo told me I should celebrate the Winter Solstice while I was in Nasushiobara. She explained that on that one day, it had always been traditionally celebrated by putting YUZU fruit in Japanese baths and eating something made of pumpkin. I asked the hotel about all this. I really don't think it was part of their plan... but, they did it all: the YUZU in the baths and the specially prepared Pumpkin desserts. It was all to please us, their guests, and make sure our stay was perfect. I was so grateful and felt so pampered and happy. I enjoyed that fruit in the Japanese bath more than you can imagine. So, If you want to relax in a beautiful Onsen with history, go see great art at the. Suga museum, to have a beautiful experience,and be pampered in a very Japanese sort of way...you must come to Itamuro Onsen Daikokuya.

Hotel & facilities were superb from the breakfast & dinner buffets through to the indoor / outdoor rooftop spa. Staff were very friendly & helpful. Free drinks, including alcohol, soft drinks, coffee, ice creams & snacks was also a very nice touch.

I love the close to old ryokan ambiance and the onsen is the best part.

Food is delicious😋, especially oyster fry .. childrens friendly environment and wide variety of foods selection.
