With the hotel being newly opened, the facilities were spotless. I enjoyed relaxing in the outdoor pool and jacuzzi, admiring the sunset behind the Hira mountains. Dinner was a meat lover's dream, with every course bursting with flavor and perfectly paired wines. The next morning, we indulged in a breakfast made from fresh Omi vegetables, delivered via room service so we could savor it while taking in the scenic view of Lake Biwa. And the staff were all incredibly friendly.

When I was younger, I have always put "10" on booking (if there was a bed and a shower someone nearby). Then I became older and started to value comfort, and my average rating reduced to "7". But this stay deserves 12/10. RyumaHirai (the host) was super helpful and very nice, he assisted us in everything! Check-in process was super-easy, and instructions were clear. Although the studio is not very big, there is everything you need. There is a small yard if you want to spend some time alone, and (not relevant to me) you can smoke there. If I ever come back to Otsu (which is likely, as the town is very nice) I will be happy to stay there once again.

The house is tastefully decorated and has all the amenities you would need, including a washing machine that you can use for a small cost. The host speaks good English and explained clearly about everything in the house. The room was clean and tidy, and the futon was very comfortable. I would recommend others to stay here.

It was the best place to stay in Shiga, Takashima and was the highlight of our trip in Japan. We stayed for two nights. The kindness of Fujiwara-san has constantly surprised me. He is very welcoming, attentive and helpful throughout our stay. We even received a beautiful thank you note from the host! It was a nice touch. The place is very clean and the scenery is gorgeous. It was a memorable experience for us. Will definitely come again ❤️

I did park at a parking lot next to the hotel parking lot (as this was full) and the staff was very kind to give me vouchers for the parking which meant I ended up parking for free which was excellent. An amazing 4-star hotel located just next to the shoreline, and all rooms have a view of the beautiful Lake Biwa. Right next to parklands and Nagahama castle, and 5 mins from the city centre and old town market street. Staff is always really helpful and polite, the room was impeccably clean, and there is also free parking. If the hotel would have been located in Europe, a room would probably have costed twice as much as it normally does at Kitabiwako Hotel Grazie, and if you travel during the rainy season or similar, you can get a room for as little as £50, which is astonishing! The hotel also got an Italian restaurant, which I can strongly recommend, because it serves proper Italian cuisine to a reasonable price; normally, when something is advertised as Italian food in Japan it is either something that would make an Italian person cry (and not of joy), or you got yourself a proper but exclusive Italian eating place in Tokyo or Osaka that serves delicious food to a very high price and only to the select few. It is rare to get something that is proper Italian in Japan and 1) outside the big cities, and 2) will not ruin you for a simple meal. You know, if you want to take a short break from all the sushi and ramen...
