Featuring a terrace and a bar, Chez Maria Julia Boutique Hotel is located in Praia, a 7-minute walk from Cova Figueira Beach and 0.7 miles from Praia de Quebra Canela. It was our first accommodation on Cape Verde and even though it was a bit pricey compared to other options, I am happy we chose it for starters for the least possible cultural shock :) It is very modern, clean, organised with the most amazing breakfast buffet full of local and traditional goods. The choice of fresh juices was insane and i was falling asleep looking forward to the breakfast. And the coffee was very good too. The owner came to speak with us during our breakfast and explained us about the dishes we were having, which was a nice touch. The AC in the room was very helpful for transitioning into tropical climate and the thick curtains made it possible to sleep off the jet leg a bit longer in the morning. The staff spoke english and was very helpful with everything we needed like car hire.

Hotel Viajante is located in Tarrafal, within a 3-minute walk of Tarrafal Beach and 400 yards of Mar di Baxu Beach. The location in the very center of the village in proximity to grocery stores and restaurants was nice. The facility looks new and well-maintained. A good and substantial breakfast was offered. A terrace on the roof with a view of the Monte Graciosa and the village, two hammocks, nice flowers, and a pergola were a great addition.

Splanada poilon features a shared lounge, terrace, a restaurant and bar in Assomada. The hotel is pretty new (about 2 years old), modern and well designed. It was designed by Hamilton, the owner, who worked 19 years in France. Therefore he can speak french, which can be useful if you do not speak Portuguese or English. Hamilton is really nice and very helpful. He picked us up at Praia ship port, the way to Assomada, is about 40 mn. He also accepted that we keep a room later on the last day as our flight was late. One of his employee drove us to the airport (at a correct price). The hotel has a swimming pool ( cleaned daily), Wifi in the lounge (soon repeaters will be installed), electricity is by solar panels. The restaurant is really good! The rooms are huge, modern with all comfort. Showers with hot water and good pressure! Moreover, the biggest tree of Cabo Verde is at 10 mn by walking ( you see it from the terraces) and City center is only at 15 mn by walking. The staff is also very nice, the cleaning women do not stop! It is very family friendly.

Small Town with Amazing Beach and a bit of History
A small town with the best beach in Santiago. There is little else, the town is incredibly quiet on weekdays and outside summer months, when people from Praia come to Tarrafal for the weekend. Additionally, the Tarrafal Camp is a 15-minute walk from town. The former concentration camp for political dissidents and African revolutionaries opened by the Portuguese dictatorship has been turned into a museum, recently refurbished and reopened (January 2016).

The host António was very nice and gave us many tipps about what to do in Tarrafal, nice restaurants, where to buy groceries etc. The place is very close to the santiago dive center, where one can go diving and snorkeling (which I totally recommend doing, it was beautiful!). I can recommemd the place to anybody going to Tarrafal. If I happen to go to Tarrafal again in the future, I would definitely stay there again. We had a great time. Thank you :)

Nice located hotel (10min by foot to plateau, 5 min to the main beaches by taxi, ca. 1€) The rooms are modern, clean and well equipped with a fridge, television. The room service was good and caring. We enjoyed especially the breakfast on the terrace which was diverse and freshly prepared. The restaurant has a daily changing menu with is worth to try. In general the service was really attentive, helpful and gave good tips for the stay. I would recommend this hotel for anybody who wants to stay on Praia/Santiago.

The spacious apartment is very tastefully furnished and spotless clean. From the terrace you have a beautiful view of the sea and nothing blocks your way. I would say it’s the best view in town. The area is safe and peaceful, you can reach the beach Quebra Canela strolling along the promenade and there are some really nice cafes and restaurants close by in Av. Santiago in Palmarejo. The hosts are very lovely and helpful and provide you with all information you need for your stay!

Very nice place just in front of the two main Tarrafal beaches! Breakfast is just spectacular, a mix of continental and typical and staff is super nice. They really helped us arranging taxi at a very good price from Prahia as well as for local attractions! Highly recommended!
