I love that it is a small city with plenty of history! I live in traffic rushed Sydney so the laid back friendliness of Hobart makes me feel calm and happy! My favourite spot to visit is Bruny island and the country side around Bothwell. Both within 1.5 hours drive. We hired a car and were able to navigate quite easily as everything is well signposted. We ate a two course home cooked meal every night at the hotel and had a big all you can eat breakfast each day as well! For under $40 for both meals! This hotel also has the best mini bar prices I have ever seen! Would recommend Hobart ..in fact all of Tasmania ...for a visit. But take your time and explore! It's worth every minute!
Wow if you enjoy the effort of walking into Tasmania's untouched beaches or climbing a mountain, walking a beach, hopping on a comfortable boat, then this is the place to go to get easy access to beautiful unspoiled scenery.
Lots of interesting things to see and do in the city easy walking distance, and for day trips away from the city. City Park, James Noah brewery, National Automobile Museum, Design Tasmania Centre, Radio Museum and Community Radio, Cataract Gorge walk, and heritage walks ....all in the city. Easy Days drive to Beaconsfield Mine Museum, George Town and Low Head Pilots Museum and lighthouse.
I've travelled to Hobart for work and play for almost 20 years. The change in the city over the last five is phenomenal. Great destination for food, unique Tasmanian made items and buzzing with culture.
Major city with small town hospitality, beautiful coast line and lovely people. We drove in from Launceston but from the Hadley’s Orient Hotel we were able to walk to some key spots and opted for a half-day tour of Hobart and the Devil’s Port Arthur full-day tour for a more extensive look at Hobart’s highlights and history. We greatly enjoyed the Taste of Tasmania festival and would recommend Salamanca Place for lunch/dinner or to pick up some of Tassie’s famous apples. We were pleasantly surprised by the size and detail of the Tasmania Museum & Gallery, which is free to enjoy (donations welcome) and offers an in-depth look into the people and events that shaped Tasmania. We had a fantastic time in Hobart and if you’re looking to get away from busy city life for a while this is a perfect place to do it.
Hobart worked as a hub for us to visit the east of Tasmania: Freycinet and Port Arthur. We visited wineries, MONA, Salamanca market, Mt Wellington, Port Arthur and we tracked in the wineglass bay hazards beach. Restaurants and cafes in Hobart were really good! Would have been great to have more time to go upper north and to Cradle mountain.
Day trip to Mona - must do Port Arthur worth a visit Our trip was to play golf, Royal Hobart and Tasmania finishing with s trip to Barnbougle and Lost Farm for final two days.
Cradle Mountain is a must visit when travelling in Tasmania. For the more adventurous take a 3hr walk to Marion’s Lookout overlooking Cradle Mountain and Dove Lake
Deloraine is one of my favourite places to visit in Tasmania. The scenery is breath-taking and the town is conveniently located within reach of many other tourist destinations. It is easy to visit Trowunna wildlife sanctuary, the caves at Mole Creek, Chudleigh Honey, Liffey falls and other spectacular viewing areas using Deloraine as a base. It is a very pretty town with a river running through it. It has a great bakery and friendly staff at the visitor centre. There is a display at the visitor centre of yarn artwork which shows the history of the area and a statue of Malua who won a Melb Cup. Don't miss the deli opposite the visitor's centre. It is easy to access from the Spirit of Tas or from Launceston airport (by car). You can then head on to Cradle Mountain which is one of the most beautiful places on Earth (but first enjoy Deloraine).
I found Hobart to be a very quaint city. It has a lot to offer without the feel of a big city. Lots of history here, the people are very friendly and helpful, several very nice attractions, and great food. I loved dinner at the Old Sydney Hotel and lunch at Small Fry. Walking The Soldiers of the Avenue to the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens was very enjoyable. The Botanical Gardens is a great place to spend a couple hours or half a day...bring a picnic lunch. Walking where I wanted to go was very easy. I have no complaints and would love to come back here someday.
Low Head
fantastic historic location. cottages have been beautifully preserved and well maintained. They were sparkling clean, comfortable & warm and cozy. The museum and their fabulous staff made the history of Low Head come to life for us. absolutely amazing museum ~ it was a highlight of our visit to Tasmania. If the museum staff hadn’t been so friendly and passionate about the history of Low Head, we could have missed out on such a memorable experience. thank you sincerely Jane & Adrian Boys Western Australia
Your Hotel was a five star. We enjoyed our two night stay and the room was so comfortable and clean. Great large bathrooms and lovely views from our room. We had breakfast and dinner at your restaurants and was very happy with your beautiful friendly staff and the food was five star.... Only one suggestion that would of been good to have is an indoor pool. Other than that it was the best Hotel we have stayed in during our 12 day trip to Tasmania
St Helens
Many thanks to Attila for the warm introduction. When our group arrived at the hotel, Attila gave us a detailed introduction of where the restaurants are better and where the scenery is worth seeing. Not only the local ones but also the whole of Tasmania were introduced, which gave us a clearer understanding of many things that were not available from public introductions. Zhen 28-12-2022
The location was superb. A fabulous view of the Tamar River a beautiful spot. About 20 minutes from Launceston, it was the perfect place to end our holiday. The food in the restaurant was to be recommended (booking advised) and the room was serviced every day. A small problem was dealt with promptly and fixed. I would recommend this Hotel and would stay again on our next visit to Tasmania.
Hobart
Comfortable clean rooms with all amenities. Fantastic view overlooking harbor and bridge. Close enough to walk to Salamanca bay and constitution dock. Fantastic eateries, bars and hotels with a great emphasis on historical events. Short drive to Mt Wellington which is stunning. World class view of southern Tasmania. My first visit and can't wait to return. Brilliant.
Great value for the rate we paid. Really helpful friendly staff. The restaurant meals were well above your average pub standard, and were fairly priced, as were the local Tasmanian wines. Quite location (at night) however, can get very busy during the day. Great historic surroundings including the venue 1827, you must see the oldest convict-built bridge in Australia.
Rebecca goes above and beyond to make you feel home. We have had a great surprise with the accommodation. So comfortable and cozy. Temperature of the apartment always nice and ward (in freezing Tassie!), nice warm bathroom floors, comfy beds, impeccable clean white towels and lining. I would come back to Tasmania just so we can stay again here! 10/10!!
Swansea
Everything — it is gorgeously curated and is aesthetically perfect to match the wild, rugged and quaint Tasmanian coastline. Each cottage/suite is unique, perfectly cozy and luxurious. A true 5 star gem. Homestead Restaurant is also fantastic. I’ve traveled extensively throughout Australia (and elsewhere), and this is my all-time favorite property.
I liked the architecture, decor, and history of the hotel. The room was exceptionally clean, and the bedding was superb. The bed was dreamily comfortable. I ate dinner at the restaurant and it was very good. A waitress by the name of Chelsea was stellar and super sweet. I highly recommend the First Tasmanian Ice Cream- cucumber mint!
Stanley
The view from this hotel is absolutely stunning! Our room faced The Nut, giving us a perfect sunrise view every morning. 🌅 The room had everything we needed, and the bathtub was just amazing. 👍 This hotel made our trip to Tasmania’s best spot, Stanley, even more memorable. If you’re heading to Stanley, this is the place to stay!
Rosevears
Everything. The view of the adjacent River Tamar was especially amazing. We were content with sitting on the patio watching the day go by. Will definitely stay here again for our next trip to Tasmania. Apartment very clean, including toilet and patio. Nice odourless fridge. Comfy beds. Woolworth's about a 10min drive away.
Staff at check in, Charlie in particular, were fantastic! Very helpful and cheery. Location is magnificent. Restuarant very nice. Hotel (rooms and Bathrooms) is getting on in years but just remembering where you are and appreciating the facilities you have, right in the middle of this beautiful, remote part of Tasmania.
Cradle Mountain
the property is actually amazing. every little path u go down on the grounds has a wombat, wallaby, echidna, platypus, possum and more waiting to say hi! perfect for anyone visiting Tasmania and if you think it’s expensive you’ll be surprised how much of an Australian experience you get by staying here so pay the extra!
Stanley
The best part of this place is its incredible view of Stanley. The kids loved the play area where they can play and see some very cute goats nearby. Fast internet, which is unfortunately not too common in Tasmania, felt like a blessing. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom was nice and tidy, and heating was great.
Very well located, and although small, facilities were good and best cost-benefit in comparison to any hostel I've stayed in Tasmania: has a car park, laundry is just $2, clean towels offered, comfy communal area. The staff was very friendly to me, and the cleaners in the common area seem to be doing a great job!
All the staff are friendly and very accommodating. It is quiet and extremely comfortable. Old fashioned service and their business acumen is to be commended. Beautiful old Hotel with character, set in such a pristine and serene part of Tasmania, only 50 minutes from Hobart, in the Huon Valley.
The hotel provided us with a large spa room which was lovely. The hotel and room had old world charm. The room was large and provided us with all required amenity. The hotel had an excellent restaurant called Luz located on site (privately operated) and the meal was the best we had in Tasmania.
Coles Bay
Easy access to Park. Excellent breakfasts and dinners. Staff went out of their way to deal with luggage my husband left behind while loading the car. We were travelling for an additional 7 days around Tasmania and they got my bags to our final hotel destination in Hobart.
St Helens
Very clean and very well presented unit. Very comfortable sofas. Good size bathroom and all you’d need in the kitchen. Communication with the owners was very easy. If we visit the east coast of Tasmania again, we wouldn’t hesitate to stay at Georges Bay Apartments again.
Strahan
👎To be truly honest this park is in need of a major upgrade! G’day parks need to review the facilities & management now! I have stayed in a lot of G’day caravan parks and this is by far the worst park in Tasmania and or Australia, sorry to be so blunt.
