The house is wonderful, spacious, luxury and quiet. Bassam is a great host and the staff are excellent too. We had a great time exploring from here or just enjoying doing nothing much at all. It is a bit outside Shela, but not that far and a nice village walk.

Every detail exceeded expectations from its preserved traditional Swahili architecture, plunge pool, and cozy pergola to the spacious rooms and comfy beds. The house is conveniently located, a short walk from the seafront and popular points of interest, with Mr. Safari and his team going above and beyond, from airport pickups to being just a call away. I loved the thoughtful addition of standing fans, which kept us cool in the Lamu heat! I’d 100% recommend Andavelo House! The location might be surprising initially, as you pass locals going about their daily lives and navigating some less-than-ideal surroundings (like open sewers and donkey dung). However, this is not a reflection of Andavelo House, which is a stunning oasis that makes the journey worthwhile.

The pool was so nice to cool off in the HOT Lamu climate. Honestly, I dont think we could have survived the heat without the pool. The service was amazing. We felt so welcomed. Like a home away from home. The chef provided an impromptu cooking class to show up how to cook the fish we caught. Carol provided good advice and has a reputation for being a good, honest, and caring manager. There are alot of areas to lounge in the shade. Its quiet but close to everything. When we come back to Lamu, this is the only place we will stay due to our warm, lovely experience. THANK YOU!!

It was such a fun stay and different than all our other hotels on our trip. Totally recommend the 3rd floor room because it has its own balcony. The breezes in the morning out there were incredible. Jamhuri was a great host and helped us book a walking tour and sunset dhow. Will be back!
